On June 5th, I'm looking forward to Arcade archives Riiiiiiidge Raaaaaacer! Thankfully, it's not a Switch 2 exclusive.

This weekend, I defeated the third Divine Beast. I'm going to wrap this game up before the Switch 2 arrives.

Been playing Metaphor Re Fantazio this weekend. As is typical with these games it can take awhile to get things going with all introducing of characters, game world, story, etc. Things can seem a bit daunting as the game introduces its systems and game mechanics but you come to grips with it pretty quickly with practical use. Am several hours into it now so things are starting to get going. The story is intriguing and I’m interested to see where they go with it. Gameplay is pretty solid.

I’m getting pretty hyped for the Switch 2 launch. Really hoping that I can walk into my local Walmart or Best Buy this Thursday and get one off the shelf.

I traveled to Missouri this weekend for some family visits so no gaming for me. But I did start book 7 of Dungeon Crawler Carl.

I've bought the Advance Wars remake for Switch this weekend.  I bought it because I know it's something the kids would love and the youngest doesn't speak English (yet).  I also bought it because they're games I always massively enjoyed and I haven't been playing much for the last month or two, so I'm hoping to reinvigorate my passion for gaming through this.

So far I've only played the first few missions.  in the intro you're asked if you're familiar with Advance Wars or not, but saying that yes, you are well known with the series just triggers a reply that this tutorial will be a good refreshener then.  Hrm

The visuals are every bit as sterile as I imagined them to be.  Gone are the expressive pixel art troops, welcome sterile puppet like replacements.  So far it also seems like you can't skip the battle animations as you could in the GBA and DS games, which will become a pain in longer campaign missions.

Also, there is some voiceover work here and there and it's done with a painfully obvious Dutch accent.  Man, do I wish you could set your language per user and not just system-wide.

Other than those niggles, it's still sweet, sweet AW gameplay.

Is Missouri worth a visit?

Yeah small bit of FOMO on my part. But only for Mario Kart, which I am terrible at online. Happy

I'm not getting it unless it's savagely discounted. I hear you can play it with copy though.

I'm not getting a switch online membership anytime soon though, not till Animal Crossing.

Gamechat is weird it's supposed to require a switch online membership but then they said its free to use till spring 2026.

But how does one use it for free if you can't play online without a paid switch online membership?

Is Switch online free till 2026? They would have mentioned it if it was.

I completed Miles Edgeworth investigations 1.

Took over 28 hours. The last case is ridiculous, you reach so many fake climaxes and the game keeps going.

Pretty great fun, although it's definitely a lower tier Ace Attorney series so far. Very fun though, Larry and Edgeworth relationship is hilarious. At one point we're having a heated interrogation with a high level diplomat.

Larry and Wendy Olgbag show up and interject. Edgeworth shouts

OBJECTION! dramatically.

Then he just says "Go away!"

Gamechat is game agnostic, you don't have to be playing the same game to use it.  It's just a way of hanging out together while playing games, like how nearly everyone has been using voicechat for years.  Only difference is that with Swotch2, you can add a crappy quality feed of your own face to it.

They've just provide it for a full year, free of charge. Like a free trial. It's perfect for my kids who are always gaming with their cousin. Too bad the one game (Roblox) they play together is not on a Nintendo platform.

I see.

But I'd still need a Switch online account to actually play games online with someone. Meh!

I miss the days of free online gaming.

Still playing Clair Obscur. It seems most people shorten it to Expedition 33. What uncultured slobs.

I suppose. It depends what you're looking for. Keep in mind, my views as a tourist are completely warped after living in Florida for over 20 years.

It's a large state and I can't speak to what most of it has, but the 100 mile stretch that I've been on in the south and southwest corner of the state is pretty cool. There's lots of route 66 history here, and some natural sites like an extensive cave system.

Perhaps most impressive is a town called Uranus that has a fudge factory. So if you ever wanted to see how the fudge is made in Uranus, visit the Uranus Fudge Factory. And no, I'm not making this up - https://www.uranusgeneralstore.com/
