But there's a plus symbol or connector inside the magnetic gap. The left joycon on Switch 1 is for the minus symbol/button right?

That room looks awfully familiar. I did work experience once at this company and spent some time in the repair workshop where they fixed and maintained Electronics. It looked just like that.

I love that that you bought yourself a Switch disguised as a Christmas present from your daughter, who is now treating it as if she bought you a present that was really for herself. It's beautiful.
