Can someone explain this?

My old dvd player started coming on, by itself then cutting out with an error by itself.

It kept happening until I pulled the cord.

When I looked there was a pool of water underneath it. It wasn't cat piss and no one had spilled anything near it.

None of the other electronics surrounding it had any liquid coming out of it.

I wiped off the liquid, went upstairs, came back down a fee mins later and more water had come out.

There was no water dripping from the ceiling or anything.

It was cold last night, with snow this morning that has all melted within an hour.

I've never had water condensing inside an electronic device which then leaks. The player is quite old now, over 10 years probably.

You may have a ghost, or maybe a large capacitor inside the player ruptured; electrolyte fluid can leak and damage the circuit board. I've never heard of them pooling up outside the case, though.

Duke Nukem is a spoof on 80s action movies in video game form. It's an alien invasion story wherein all of the enemies are either aliens or humans that aliens have possessed (e.g., pig cops) to steal our babes (women).

What in the hell?

The level design is crazy for today's world. They hide secret pathways in totally normal looking walls.

And expect the player to somehow shoot it and proceed to the next area. There's no visual indication or anything.

I can kill everything and still wander every room trying to find a way forward.

That's scary.

The liquid was clear and didn't smell. It was just water.

Yup. That's 90s PC gaming.

I miss the "jump through the painting" trope.

Okay I'm stuck on the final boss in Metroid Dread and Kunai.

I've lost patience as I've aged with tough final boss fights. I get that they are supposed to be difficult, but options to lessen the difficuly Spike feels like what should be a normal option these days.

I've been playing Duke Nukem instead, it all feels so weird to play a game like this today.

I started Scrap Riders this adventure game beat em up hybrid. Liking it alot, especially the Full Throttle vibes.

For hidden weapons and stuff that's fine. But they actually hide things you need to progress the level. Once you've cleared out all the enemies it feels like a big escape room game.

Hmm Scrap Riders beat em up mechanics feel off.

The controls and hit detection are too sluggish. The AI pummels you to the floor then repeatedly knocks you over when you want to stand up.

I can't work out how to pick up ammo, nothing works.

I think its the analogue controls that are the main problem. Should be fine on the dpad. Still need a pro controller variant with a decent dpad.

After finishing Wolfenstein II, I decided to give South Park: The Fractured But Whole a spin. I'm glad I did. What have you been playing this weekend?

I've been playing Pokémon Unbound. It's actually a fan-made game that uses Pokemon fire Red as the engine, and basically added all the different pokémon up until like gen 8. It's very fast-paced and a very impressive undertaking.

Been playing Dragon Quest III HD-2D Remake this weekend. Love the visuals. Also finished my first game of this year which was Still Wakes The Deep. It was, ok. Very much inspired by John Carpenter’s The Thing. Played it through Game Pass and it wouldn’t a game I would have purchased. Probably give it like a 6/10.

Oh no, that's terrible.

You need to wind down your physical activities. Maybe get a scan on your back, if it's related to your spine it can be very bad.

Some Switch 2 tidbits, the controllers leaked.

There appears to be an optical mouse sensor built into the joycons so you can drag it around like a mouse on a mouse pad.

A Chinese leaker said indie devs reported that when they ported their game it performed slightly worse than ps4 pro.

Though the dev admitted they didn't optimise anything and wasn't that knowledgeable when it comes to specs etc.

Oh trying Scrap Riders with a d pad did the trick.

Now it's actually become one of the best beat em ups.

Because it acts like an adventure games most of the time with a good story, interesting characters and world.

Then it seamlessly transitions into action then back to adventure.

Only thing that bugs me is they built in this weird delay when you want to advance the text, so you have to wait after every line of dialogue to press A and go onto the next bit of text.

I've never seen this in other games except for maybe zelda but they usually have 5 lines of text. This game can have essentially one line, sometimes one word before you have to wait to advance. Really strange and annoying choice for a fast reader like me.

I'm still -very slowly- playing through Mario and Luigi Brothership.  It doesn't feel right to not finish a Mario game, but it hasn't improved either.  I just saw some paratroopa's in the game for the first time.  That was nice.

[eurogamer.net]Eurogamer's Top 50 of 2024 (Ranked) Number 50 is Plucky Squire.

Has anyone here played the Plucky Squire?  It looks superb.  It's available on Switch, but I fear that the humble handheld won't do it's visual style justice and it hasn't released on Xbox One.
