Geez, GG, I'm sorry. I know you've been anticipating this game for a while.

It's sad but truth is I didn't have any expectations for it. The way it was revealed had me questioning what it was from the get go. I had to buy it regardless to see what its like, they've turned it into some live service procedurally generated turd.

That's some damning impressions GG.  I quite enjoyed the first, but don't see the point in a sequel, even if it is of good quality.  I don't think the novel experience of a calming dive could lure me back in.  Might as well just replay the original.  Perhaps a remaster would indeed have been a better option.

You should try the second, it's a much better game, more objective based. Like an rpg really. Kind of like Snowrunner actually, you'd never expect a game about driving trucks could be turned into an awesome RPG, but it works.

I downloaded Tomb Raider 2013 from the Game Pass this morning. Still looks great.

I've been playing Stellar Blade this weekend. It's a fun game but it has just enough Souls-like timing/gameplay to kick my ass repeatedly . . . on STORY MODE!! LOL

Returned to playing Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice this weekend and finished it. Pretty cool game and enjoyed it a fair amount. Am all ready for Hellblade II when it comes out in the next couple of weeks.

I didn't get any further then about 10 minutes of Laya on my phone, as we went out sailing for the weekend.  It was relatively sunny and the wind was just right to be enjoyable.  Longest streatch of consecutive 'good' weather we've had all year.  Hopefully this turns the tide and spring can finally begin, because we'll be going sailing again soon.

Game Under Podcast Episode 152

  • Facebook Losing $1 BN a MONTH on VR.

VR is a geek's dream, but it's just a curiosity for most people. That's why I believe most people only watch 3D movies at the theater, rather than at home.

I'd still like to try VR.

It's the costs though, you have to weigh it up vs other systems. And try it in person.

The 3D I've seen in cinemas was terrible.

GG, you should get a quest2 if you want to experience VR 'cheap' . With the release of the Quest3, you'll often find the 2 discounted. There are a number of good games on it as a standalone machine, and if you ever get a VR capable PC you can link it with an hdmi cable.

I've only seen one 3D film in the theaters: Avatar. It was blurry AF and gave me a headache. I assume I'm in the minority, though, since it was popular for a long time.

I can see AR breaking through though. Once technology catches up with the potential AR could be a game changer, basically adding a HUD to real life. Could be very usefull for medical purposes, construction, even just pathfinding with GPS.

the problem with 3d is that the concept doesn't play nice with motion blur. It's much more annoying to be viewing something blurred in 3D then on a 2D display. With games devs can predict pretty well where the player will be focusing, but it's more difficult with movies.

Best examples of good 3D ironically are 3DS games as they don' t have the horsepower, nor resolution to attempt motion blurring.

Yeah, I enjoyed playing games in 3D on 3DS. I could play with that no problem.

AR has a lot more potential than VR, especially for special situations like you mentioned. Average people don't seem to know or care about it much, unless there's Pokemon involved, so maybe it just needs more killer apps.

I mean try it for free.

You know what, they should do a 60 day trial with free return. Like QVC.

Unless a friend owned one I'd never try it.
