It might've taken this long for them to dig deep enough to find something, but I doubt it. Nintendo, like most big companies, are bullies. They have money to burn. Hopefully, the devs can defend themselves. Similarities are not infringement, IMO.

Three Romancing SaGa 2 remake demo is out and it's fairly decent so far.

I remember Robio saying that the Romancing SaGa was spiritual predecessor to the Octopath Traveler games. So I added the 4 or so games already on Switch. The remake feels good, I like that I understand it's combat system instantly and it's not confusing me with rpg bullcrap.

Plus it's a great port, really smooth and pretty decent image quality taken to top crispness via Mclassic.

Glad to hear you're checking it out the series.

Romancing SaGa 2 had an interesting story, and after watching the trailer, it looks like they've expanded it quite a bit too. It should make for a really good experience.

Thanks for the heads up.

There's a few of them on the eshop, like HD versions. Do you recommend any one in particular?

I think there are 5 SaGa games that are out there right now on the eshop. Maybe only four, but I know these five are the ones that are available on multiple platforms right now.

1. Romancing SaGa 2 HD - Skip it and just wait for the remake

2. Romancing SaGa 3 HD - One of my favorites of all time, but I'm always a little hesitant to recommend it. It's got some quality of life life fixes, but it's still an old school jrpg and it kind of has a quirk that that the stories and side quests only open up as your character's HP grows. But if you can work with that and maybe consult a guide, you might have a really good time with it.

3. SaGa: Scarlet Grace - I love this game and It goes on sale on a pretty regular basis for a pretty low price. It was originally a mobile game, and as a result comes off looking a little bare bones. But it also has an incredible battle system that makes up for any visual shortcomings.

4. SaGa: Emerald Beyond - I haven't played this one yet. It's basically a follow-up to Scarlet Grace, using the same battle system and art style, just with more enhancements. Should be good.

5. SaGa Frontier HD - skip it. I like it for nostalgia, but I wouldn't recommend anyone else play it. Even with the fixes they put into it, it's a weak entry in the series.

In conclusion, either check out Scarlet Grace or Romancing SaGa 3.

Special edition of the PlayStation 5 is coming out to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the original PlayStation. It's going to be released in the standard gray color that the old one used to be in.

And I must tell you, I can't quite comprehend that the PlayStation is 30 years old next year.... My brain can't grasp this.

For the 25th anniversary they released a dope ass PS4 in the original PS colour (gray). It was extremely limited IIRC.

Think I tried the Emerald Beyond demo, but I'd have to check again. I didn't like the demo.

Are they mostly new stories with each game aside from the ones you mentioned?

The 3d printed Switch 2 model I mean.

Good video, it seems much larger than even the OLED. The joycons are bigger, the sticks and buttons are larger.

I'm not sure what you mean when you say new stories. If you mean standalone stories, yes. None of the SaGa games connect to any others in the series.

One other thing worth mentioning is that in most of the games, you pick one starting main character, and then follow that character's game through the progression of the story. In most cases, each character has a very unique story paths, but may meet up with others and add them as supporting party members. SaGa frontier took it a step farther, and every character has their own unique storyline, that usually has nothing to do with the other characters whatsoever.

The one reason exception is Romancing SaGa 2. It's a much more linear game with one story. The story takes place over multiple generations, so the storyline basically gets passed from parent to child, etc. so while your characters will change, it'll be the same experience that every other player has.

Got a few games recently

Raging Justice is a beat em up. Less than $3 on the eshop, 3 player.

Pretty fun arcade game, gives you a good move set.

The Visuals are the main draw here, it's like a modern version of back in the 16bit Era when devs were trying to do realistic models. It's like 2D Mortal Kombat done right. The animation almost gives a claymation effect.

Not difficult, it could use some voice acting and different font/colours as it looks like someone typed out the menus in Microsoft Paint.

Also bought Scourgebringer.

It's a 2D roguelike where you go in this structure and fight off alien beings. It's like $4. The little character with the white hair is you, the controls are super good. You can run up walls, flip about like a Ninja, bounce off walls, dash in midair, you can attack in midair, dash to another enemy and continue attacking in midair.

Also got Atelier Ryza 1, at £16ish

It looks like a more relaxed JRPG, has lovely music and excellent graphics.

Does anyone have any thoughts on Mafia 2? I've only played Mafia 3, and while I did like that it got extremely repetitive really quickly.

Been quite awhile since I played it back when it first came out on the 360 but do recall enjoying it. Haven’t played the third one so don’t really know how it compares. I have Mafia II Remake or remaster from PS Plus but haven’t tried it yet. Might be better playing that one though.

I'll probably hold off. The more I read about it, the more divisive the opinions of it seem. Some people are saying it's wonderful, some people say it's a relic, and other people say it's a buggy mess.
