Ghost Player: Sony patents AI help for gamers
06.01.26 - Sony has filed a patent for a new technology that could allow PlayStation games to play partially or completely independently with the help of artificial intelligence. This is reported by Polygon.
The so-called "Ghost Player" system allows players to activate an AI-generated doppelganger of their character. This could either demonstrate a solution to a certain game section or complete the stage completely.
The patent was filed in September 2024 and published this week in an international status report from the World Intellectual Property Organization. The AI is to be trained on existing game material and not based on predefined inputs.
The system is reminiscent of the PS5 Game Help Service, which already provides players with hints about puzzles and challenges. Sony is not planning an immediate implementation, according to what is known so far, and it is unclear whether the technology will be used in future hardware.
Dragon Quest VII Reimagined is a definite day one purchase for me but am really looking forward to playing the demo tomorrow.
I completed Outlast, only took 7 years.
Now onto the Whistleblower dlc. Decent so far, still hate film grain.
Please yes, this sounds amazing!
Playing RE4 OG on switch 2, it's so beautiful. Game is still the best.
I'm currently playing 'The Lair of the Clockword God' which I bought a while ago during a sale. It's a sidescrolling platformer/point 'n click mashup where one character wants to be a platformer and the other refuses and wants to stick to what he knows, being point 'n click. This results in a lot of witty banter as the platformer chirps on about modern gaming trends and the other loaths the change, on top of the usual charm and wit found in point 'n click games. You can control both characters, with the platformer unable to flip switches or use items, the other unable to scale the smallest ledge. He also moves very slow, which is part of the joke, but a joke that grows old very fast. Luckily I just found a teleport device that allows me to just have him teleport to wherever the other one is.
So far it's enjoyable. The puzzles aren't too far fetched, I've had to resort to a walkthrough once for something that I, with hindsight, would never have thought of.
We also bought a 512GB microSD Express card for the Switch2. Paid about €125 for it. You could find 256GB cards for little over €50, but I feared those would fill up very fast.
For a bit more you could have nabbed a 1tb one. I saw one for £150
You have the remake though? Is the OG still appealing? I wish they would put gyro aiming in. All the other RE games on Switch, played on switch 2 are locked 60fps with gyro.
I've owned it for ages but never tried it. It got good reviews.
They're going for at least €300 here. And I doubt I'll fill up 512GB all too fast. Seemed like the sweet spot.
Pssssj, I played the Metroid Prime Remake with original GC controls enabled.
So by the time one has bought a Switch 2, a pro controller, a memory card and a game they are looking at 1000 euro/bucks spent? Seems very expensive to me.

Turns out she absolutely loved it, which makes sense, because she does share in the twisted sense of humor that flows through most of the family. Anyway, it's now been decided that at the next visit, I'm giving her my PS4 so that she can play the game anytime she wants.
It's an investment in the future! Though one I'm not willing to make myself.
Indeed. In the very near future this will have seemed like a real bargain.
You're looking at it backwards. I'm actually doing some great savings because I can just keep using my old Switch1 joycon for multiplayer. That's €240 saved.
I can also use my old pro cobtroller. Another €70 saved!
And what little value that remains will be covered by the ever rising prices of RAM and GPU's. By the time the Switch2 reaches end of life, those will have become so scarce I'll be able to sell my Switch2 for the price of a small car!
It's 60fps and though I cant count pixels it looks 4k and the textures are very crisp too. Game feels very nostalgic, for fans.
For me playing an old game like this it feels a bit simplistic to me, so I'll stick with Octopath for the time being.
Crazy. Although I played with gyro only when locked on or aiming. I learned too late how to enable totally awesome wii controls.
I used those for prime 4. I've worked out through playing various games, you don't need a gyro centre reset button. You just enable use of the right stick plus motion aiming. You naturally center the screen with the stick as you turn.
I chose MK World as my bundled game and it was only £30.
You can also get Cyberpunk and Star Wars Outlaws for £30 to £35
I don't bother with a pro controller. You can get s 256gb card for £40 but I haven't bothered yet.
Nintendo's big FU for me was not letting me use my old micro sd cards for Switch 1 games.
I have seen the error of my ways. Hope there is still time for me to invest in some Wii2 stock!
