Been totally absorbed with Metroid Prime 4 this weekend.
Needless to say it’s been largely all about Metroid Prime 4 for me this weekend. Played a bit more Marvel Cosmic Invasion and a little bit of Octopath Traveler 0.
So I have 79% of all scans and 85% of all items. I can probably collect all items but I think I missed some scans.
For me this weekend has been all about Mario Kart World, NSMB U Deluxe and a little bit of Super Mario Galaxy 1 & 2. I also got a few rounds Arcade Archives Donkey Kong in as well.
Yes I was thinking, playing Prime remastered it really made no sense how different elevators went to different parts of different regions.I had to get an elevator from region A to region B, only to then travel through the level to another elevator that went to region C.
There was no direct route from region A to C. It was a bit of a pain in the ass as I was trying to 100% it.
In Prime 3 they changed it so you could fly between areas. It was more simplistic but for me a more welcoming one that made more sense.
For me the desert is a completely logical topography for an alien world. I dont even get the lack of music complaints. Maybe even the lack of stuff to do in the desert doesnt sit quite right. It's a desert, there's usually not much to see or do in a desert and its supposed to be a desolate wasteland on a dead planet, so the ambiant eeerie sounds make sense.
Its true that its too big to have to drive from one side to the other. But I really do view it as the n64 Hyrule field equivalent.
Sure they could have packed it with stuff to do. Maybe they could have gone with the Skyward sword plan and make the overworld one big dungeon?
Personally though the desert isnt brilliant, its so in-offensive it doesnt bother me. Its nice to just drive after youve been stuck in a labyrinth for 3 hours.
05.12.25 - Insider and leaker Moore's Law Is Dead claims Sony is pushing developers to directly support the PS5 Low Power power mode in order to prepare games for a possible PlayStation 6 handheld variant.
According to the report, Sony is sending emails, tutorials and documentation to guide developers to reduce the resolution instead of lowering the frame rate in order to maintain 60 frames per second. The leak mentions Razor CPU, an internal analysis tool for identifying CPU bottlenecks and reducing parallel threads, as a tool.
The note suggests that Low Power could serve as a compatibility basis for the alleged handheld codenamed Canis. In previous leaks, a home device codenamed Orion and hardware-side specifications such as AMD Zen 6 CPUs and RDNA 5 graphics have also been mentioned for the next generation of consoles.
According to Moore's Law Is Dead, Sony plans to use four powerful Zen 6 cores for gaming on the handheld platform, while two smaller cores take over system tasks. In theory, this would allow for higher individual performance, provided studios adjust thread management and background tasks.
This is an unconfirmed report, based on statements from a single, unnamed developer and information from Moore's Law Is Dead. Sony has not given any official confirmation; Plans can change. Industry observers see the procedure as a coordinated preparation, in which already released PS5 games require less adaptation effort should a handheld come onto the market. Whether and how many studios follow the recommendations remains open; the leak also did not provide any legal or technical details, so many details are preliminary.
Interesting, so Sony wants in on the hybrid console biz. How would it work for Blu Ray discs? Would have to be pretty big or maybe digital only. Will there be different versions of the PlayStation 6? Tv only and handheld?
Edit: you should never hive your console a code name that rhymes with Anus.
You would wander about towns with lots of npcs, drive about open worlds. Meet interesting characters.
Jump in your spaceship and have space travel and combat, with multiple worlds.
Then you would go into areas which are just designed like traditional Prime stomping grounds.
I could see them copying the Switch model, where you have a dock and a console that throttles depending on the usecase. It's been succesfull for a reason, and Sony's always been better at itteration on other people's designs than coming up with fresh ideas of its own.
If it's still a few years out it's not unrealistic to expect it to hit PS5 'low power' performance when not docked. As for physical games, I could see the dock including a BluRay disc player, where the handheld would be digital only and where games are just required to be installed to be played in handheld.
I beat the ice station in Metroid prime 4.
Good stuff, liked the boss. Really enjoying the game.
At worst it's an 8/10 and depending on the rest of the game probably a 9 for me.
I think it will be two separate systems with your games being shared between handheld and console through your online account.
"Samus aran being a complete mute and essentially a robot in metroid prime 4 is dumb."
Saw this on Gaf. What say you?
I think if she was a talking character lots of people would hate it.
I think they should say her suit is alien and the Chozo used psychic thoughts so even if Samus talks inside the suit theres no way for people outside of it to hear her.
But when she takes it off she can talk.
PS5 is only in the middle of the journey and we are really planning to expand it even further (Sony CFO Lin Tao)
Actually this suggests they will just release a Playstation handheld and leave ps5 as the main platform for a few more years. Shared game ownership I'm guessing between ps5 and the new handheld.
Same here. Liked the area and it was a fun boss fight.
Don’t mind traversing the desert area either but having to go back to base camp to get Myles to install these upgrade chips each time kind of sucks.
Make sure you collect those green crystals as you go instead of waiting.
Trying not spoil but when she shrugs later in the game, I was cracking up for a few minutes.
Yeah, been doing that while traversing and doing some exploring. I don’t even mind doing that too much either.
It does seem quite weird that she doesn’t talk at all. Some interactions feel like she at least say something. I’m sure there would be some that would hate her having a voice at all but I think they should have given her one regardless.
