Microsoft CEO Backs "Play Anywhere" Philosophy
MS is looking more and more like the world's largest gaming software company and less of a console manufacturer.

Metroid Prime 4 confirmed for 2025.
So I started playing Borderlands2 with my eldest yesterday. I played through the game years ago in online co-op with my gaming bud and now my son chose the same character (Zero, the sniper. poor choice). Within 15 minutes I was having flashbacks to my original playthrough, as Zero would always pick off the easy targets I needed to get my second wind. I also one time shouted my gaming bud's name instead of my son's when I was in a pickle. I'm getting old, lol.
We also had to quit and restart the game once because of a glitch early on, where my snipin' son sniped all the baddies from a distance before the story elements could kick in, after which claptrap would remain cowering in a corner untill eternity as he was still expecting the baddies to come out and get him. You'd think stuff like that would have been patched out by now.
Such wild predictions! This man must really be in the loop.
Hey if you guys need a quote from a podcast leader, I'll say anything for a few "+" on a post.
Rain Rain rain, We've had 18 inches of rain in the last week. Water everywhere. I had to drive through 7 flooded roads yesterday to get home.
Good thing it stopped, nothing but sun now for the next week.
I've now finished it and I'll say it's a good idea to get all the pages of the instruction booklet. I just looked up how to find the last ones I needed.
By Miu Watanabe.
I am a podcast leader with plenty of sauces. Srirachi, tomato, BBQ, tabasco, I got 'em all.
I love how fluid the movement and controls are. Graphics are great and it's clearly a well made game.
Only thing I'm not a huge fan of is the map which is the least clear metroid map I've ever seen.
The door icons aren't prominent enough, or coloured well enough. There's this yellow square to denote an area with a hidden power up but it just adds visual noise to everything.
The mini map is lodged in the top right corner of the tv which is something of a black spot visually for me to see.
The EMMIs are both great and annoying at the same time. Instant deaths are never a good mechanic.
Loved the first boss.
We'll know to find you when we need a hot take.
It let's you slide through some gaps but only one way so you can't slide back. That traps you in some areas and I'm finding it difficult to find a way out.
You can come across the same sized gap you slid through but need to morph ball back through?
So on the map you see sliding bits which are actually morph ball bits. And unless you really zoom in and study the map in detail, you'll frequently come up against impassable bits.
Yeah, things definitely looking pretty rough for Platinum Games these days.
I remember listening to Nick Des Barre (Nick Rox) talk about his time at Platinum. This would have been 10 years ago. He was really passionate about wotking for them but described it as a debilitating, gruelling nightmare of a workplace.
Two week holiday has commenced. Both companies I work for are closed, so it should be a restorative time. Just have to wait until my daughter gives me my Steamdeck (I am not at primary residence so gaming is limited PC-wise until I get it).
My break began yesterday as well.
Mine is actually A Christmas Carol the Musical. The Kelsey Grammer one.
Whenever someone here hears that they give me a weird stink eye look, because they've never heard of it. It was a cable tv special show, never released on Bluray or even dvd here.
It was buried on secondary tv channels with very low viewership. It's on YouTube but you have to buy it in shitty resolution.
I have a dvd copy but even on a 1080p set it looks like it was made in the 50s the picture is so bad.
Now I want to watch it in the living room on a 4ktv at 65 inches. Even Mclassic won't help.
It might be a toss up between Home Alone and Blackadder's Christmas Carol. With Home Alone, the older I get, the more I am into Kevin's interaction with Old Man Marley. I tear up at the end when he is reunited with his family.
I absolutely love Blackadder's Christmas Carol and its spin on the book's story. A merry, messy Kweznus. I wish the Blackadder special would upgrade to HD.
Speaking of Christmas Carol, the musical, I actually attended a musical version about two weeks ago.
Was it the Alan Menken one you saw?
Yes, it was.
