Feels very luxurious as a platformer, lots of full on voice acting, lovely art. It has tons of depth to it, I assume, given that there are 10 different pages to swap between on the menu.
Only complaint is that the character models are fairly detailed but small. So there's this fuzziness to the image quality which is a bit off putting.
In other news, They Always Run (see prior post) is very cool. Nails the feeling of being an unstoppable space bounty Hunter. The bounties really run and you have to park our all around the place to catch up to them.
Also some adventure game like interactions. Like when I beat the first bounty I had to collect his body, walk around with it to the ship. You can climb ladders carrying bodies, you have to go in the ship, down to the hold and put the body in a cryo chamber.
But the ship has different sections to do stuff in like an engine room, control room etc.
Beach weekend, got to get some gaming in. In the final stages of life of Spiritfarer. After getting a prompt start to the year this game has dragged on and on. End is in sight so purchased There is No Game as a pallet cleaners.
Nintendo Switch 2 Report Reveals Launch Month and Software Release Plan
Switch 2 will apparently launch in June, but bigger third-party games won’t arrive until later.
Nintendo Switch 2 will be officially unveiled during a special Nintendo Direct presentation next week. Since January, Nintendo has kept a tight-lip on any details related to the new platform, but it seems some leaks are starting to take place. According to a report from Insider Gaming, Nintendo Switch 2 will launch sometime in June. That’s not too surprising, as fans have speculated for months that a launch might happen in May or June, since special hands-on experiences will be taking place throughout the month of April. The bigger part of the report reveals Nintendo’s software strategy throughout 2025.
According to sources Insider Gaming spoke to at this year’s Game Developers Conference, Nintendo is planning a “three-phase strategy” for software. The first phase is the system launch, and the line-up will consist “primarily” of first-party games. In the past, Nintendo has focused on one major first-party game at launch, typically accompanied by a smaller game that takes advantage of the system’s hardware; in the case of Switch, the system launched alongside The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and 1-2-Switch, as well as the digital exclusive Snipperclips. However, there were some third-party games, including Super Bomberman R and Just Dance 2017.
The use of “primarily” seems to imply that we’ll see some third-party games during Nintendo Switch 2’s launch, just not on a major level. Apparently, bigger third-party games are part of the second planned phase. Insider Gaming notes that many third-party developers are waiting on dev kits for the system, and expect to have them in-hand in June. The plan is to have bigger third-party games during that window. This is potentially when we can expect to see rumored games that have skipped releasing on Switch, such as Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order and Final Fantasy VII Remake. However, this is just speculation.
The third and final phase of 2025 is the holiday window. No details have been revealed, but we can likely expect to see some kind of big exclusive in this time frame. In the launch year for the original Switch, this is when Nintendo dropped Super Mario Odyssey. There hasn’t been a full 3D Mario game since, and fans have speculated for months that Switch 2 will launch with a new Mario Kart, with a 3D Mario arriving at the end of the year. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe did not launch alongside the original Switch, but it did release just a few weeks later.
At this time, readers should take all of this with a grain of salt. However, it does seem to line up with Pocketpair’s recent comments at GDC; the game’s community manager told IGN that he was trying to find out specs for the new system, but was unable to get any details. That would make sense if dev kits aren’t being sent out for a few more months. With the April 2nd Nintendo Direct just over a week away, we should know a lot more about what to expect in the very near future.
Can we please talk about your experiences with lag?
I was playing Extra Coin on switch which had this mini game where you press a button as soon as a light comes on. It actually tells you how long that button press takes.
Docked, it took 0.5 seconds from the moment I saw the light, pressed the button and the game registered my button press.
Then I was playing in handheld and the same mini game had my reactions at 0.33 or 0.3 seconds as the response time.
I'd always, sub consciously played Switch in handheld if I had a tough boss fight or platforming section. Mostly because I felt I was better when having a solid grip on it because I tended to play with split joycon otherwise.
But it appears the effect of playing handheld was that my response time was faster too.
It seems to be more noticible with a particular tv. So is it the lag of the tv, bringing up the image too late? Or the lag from the wireless joycons?
It came to a head last weekend, Hotline Miami had me dying when I was sure I'd pressed the melee button before the enemy touched me.
And the controls in They Always Run felt jaggy and I played it handheld today and it felt fine.
Is your TV set to Game Mode? Non-game mode TV settings may add additional lag because of fancy image processing.
Anything above 20 milliseconds of delay can be noticeable by some people. My LG C2 is around 8-12 milliseconds in game mode. Wireless controllers add a bit more. Wired controller will have the lowest possible latency.
Well what do you know? They're really doing a Nintendo switch direct tomorrow. I can't imagine there's going to be a lot of really big games announced, but it's kind of cool that they've got one last one up their sleeve before the real big reveal.

I've tried it in game mode and the image quality is dull.
It is a weird room, the metal tv shelving underneath always f***ed up the Bluetooth on the joycons.
I changed the position of the dock which helps but it still has problems sometimes like delayed button presses and disconnected joycons.
They Always Run is great fun now, if you ever wanted a 2D Batman Arkham game this is it.
Unfortunately it has one huge flaw, it doesn't replenish your life when restarting at a checkpoint.
So if you have 10% health when you reach a checkpoint, it auto saves. Then when you die you restart from the same checkpoint with the same 10% of life.
They like to load certain rooms with 6 enemies or so and it's very difficult to get through them when you are low on life. And the game doesn't replenish your life when you die.
If you get caught in a bit like this, your only choice is to power through and get lucky or restart the whole level.
And there's always the risk if your restart the level that you will still have the game save when your life is 10%.

For sure. Don’t know what they could show here but I’m definitely looking forward to seeing it.
Metroid Prime 4 will be the big spotlighted game. They're still committed to bringing it to the Switch. So they'll show off more of that, and probably mention it's going to be cross-gen.
I wouldn't be surprised if there's a few other ports of older games announced. Twilight Princess and Wind Waker are still gathering dust on the Wii U.
They'll show off some Nindies too. Lesbian Barista Speakeasy Simulator 3 and games like that.
Bought Afterimage, a metroidvania.

Finally got my gun.
Sub $2 prices.

Anyone playing Atom Fall?
It's a point and click/visual novel that looks interesting but grunge like and old. Seems to be 4:3 aspect ratio.

While I’m sure I’ve played a game or two over the many years that has had input lag I can’t really think of any specific names right now.

I adjusted my TVs game mode advanced settings to match my favorite non-gaming preset, so it's near identical.
Mode disables visual options on this tv, makes it look bland.
You can't change color, brightness, contrast, sharpness, etc?
My TV only disables special features like smooth motion, noise reduction, ect.
For sure. Don’t know what they could show here but I’m definitely looking forward to seeing it.
I'm pretty sure Nintendo is just doing it to trull us all.

Mark my words and mark them well, it’ll be the StarTropics 3 game. Trust me, it’s happening!
Yes!
