My apologies to everyone around me in real life, but my car now has an obscenely loud exhaust system and everything about it is glorious. Until I inevitably get defected. Or a neighbour bashes me as retribution. Fair enough, I like to drive at night. Tinnitus and hearing loss are probably going to be side effects, too. Oh well, have you heard how effective hearing aids are these days?

I admire your choice to publish this here as it would be the most logical place to reach the most people who live in your immediate area. Honestly, I'm sick of the Melbourne-bias present on this site, but I tolerate it.

As for the hearing aid propaganda, don't beleive the hype. Since this law passed anyone can fob off in ear speakers as hearing aids:

Federal Register :: Medical Devices; Ear, Nose, and Throat Devices; Establishing Over-the-Counter Hearing Aids

Sold as a lie to lower costs, it actually hurts consumers by having people not seek medical advice from doctors, instead self-prescribing, moslty to their detriment by overamplifying.

Thank you to everyone on the back pain advice and commiseration. This is an annual event for me nowadays, fortunately with some rest it will go away.

I should have used a heatpad by now, thanks GG fo rthe reminder.

It only hurts when I move LOL

It happens to me once or twice a year when I over exert myself. After an MRI they found a disc in my spine was bulging and the disc is either compressed or ruptured. Luckily it can heal itself, though the doctor said it may need surgery if it gets worse.

I found lying flat in bed with a heated pad works, but it still takes 7 days to fully heal. I couldn't live without a heat pad, I have one that covers my neck and shoulders too from amazon.

The good thing about heat pads is that it's constant, drug free pain relief. It promotes higher blood circulation and healing.

In fact when I had covid, the heat pad was the only thing that kept the muscle pain down too.

New Nintendo Switch 2 details: Possible announcement window, Joy-Con solution and …According to the CEO of peripheral company Blade, the possible price of the console is …

https://www.gamereactor.eu/rumour-new-nintendo-switch-2-details-possible-announcement-window-joy-con-solution-and-charging-system-1438183/

As we always say, this is unconfirmed, but Ruben Mercado, CEO of Blade, a company that makes third-party accessories for game consoles (such as grips for PS5 and the current Nintendo Switch) has appeared on Vandal Radio and revealed information from his close sources about some of Nintendo Switch 2's features.

Firstly, Mercado would confirm that the new Joy-Con will have a magnetic connection system with the console. This could be a cause for concern for some gamers, who believe this could lead to controller connection issues. But Mercado says Nintendo has found a locking solution to prevent dropping or disconnection.

He also questions alleged leaks of images we have seen in recent weeks, based on the joystick design, and that several Chinese manufacturers have told him that it is not possible to create protective grips for the sticks, without revealing the reason. The charging system would have an alternative on the top of the console, thanks to a USB-C port.

The conversation then turned to the announcement window and the possible price of the Switch 2. Mercado notes that, while Nintendo can always make a surprise announcement whenever it wants, the norm when making announcements of this kind that could boost a Japanese company's stock price is that they are usually made six months before the product launch. As the market suggests that the console would already be finished and that the effort is now to accumulate enough stock for a simultaneous global launch, Blade's CEO believes that it could take place in November, although he then qualifies that October is also possible. Finally, he puts the price of the Nintendo Switch 2 at between 400 and 500 euros.

Actress Maggie Smith of downtown abbey and harry potter fame died.  RIP

I often wondered how long she'd still be around.  She seemed to have been very old for ages.

edit: loved her in The Lady in the Van.  Typically smal British story that.

I'm absolutely loving Epic Mickey Rebrushed. So much to explore and find in the levels. It's been so long since I last played it, it feels mostly new again. They fixed everything that sucked about the controls and frame rate issues on Wii. It's 4K60 on PS5 and the artwork looks amazing! The artstyle is really making me want to replay Alice Madness Returns again too.

Bring on Epic Mickey 2 Rebrushed. I will buy it, Disney.

Glad to hear Epic Mickey is finally living up to the name. I always liked it, but that camera was deviously bad. Also, I read they expanded the 2D levels a bit, which is good to hear. Those were my favorite bits of the game.

Always wanted the sequel but I heard the 360 version had frame rate issues and bugs. Same for Wii U version.

I don't remember the 2D levels well enough to know if they've added anything or not, but they are great. I could play an entire game of those.

Yeah, I hope They remake the sequel like they did with Epic Mickey rather than remaster it. That would fix any bugs and performance issues for sure. I have the Wii version and Oswald's AI, or lack thereof, being a bit frustrating for me.

Any thoughts on the new false advertising law in California?

California’s new law forces digital stores to admit you’re just licensing content, not buying it - The Verge

The legislation will force digital storefronts to tell customers they’re just getting a license to use the digital media, rather than suggesting they actually own it.

When the law comes into effect next year, it will ban digital storefronts from using terms like “buy” or “purchase,” unless they inform customers that they’re not getting unrestricted access to whatever they’re buying. Storefronts will have to tell customers they’re getting a license that can be revoked as well as provide a list of all the restrictions that come along with it. Companies that break the rule could be fined for false advertising.

I think its the right thing to do. How many customers feel swindled because they buy something digitally and then are confused when yhey lose that media?
