Croc is a name that I haven't heard in quite some time.

I don't know. Crocs seem to have been everywhere for the last 2 decades.

I recently got an Englisch book with 300 'dad jokes' for my birthday from my kids.  As a present it was a great idea, but the thing is that whenever I'm browsing through it, I'll often snigger at which point they will ask what the joke was.  Since these jokes are nearly all puns, I've often had to tell them that they won't translate to Dutch.  The eldest started learning English in school last year, so for him there's some worth in it.  I've had to disappoint the youngest a lot though, which is a shame as he really enjoys jokes.

As for gaming, I've been playing more Splatoon3 and have been on a horrible losing streak.

Zelda will be able to wield a sword in the upcoming game, but only because she finds an enchanted blade that transforms her in to 'sword form', which is basically Link. It'll be on a timer as well, kind of how magic used to work.

Is it just me, or is it a tad mysoginistic to imply Zelda couldn't possibly wield a sword without the help of some enchantment?

She should wield dual kitchen knives and reek a bloody trail through Hyrule.

And the castle kitchen.

How's the turf wars compared to Splatoon 1 and 2?

I preferred 1 as you could feasibly use weapons other than machine guns, as they were balanced right or had the right sub. And the maps had choke points.

2 had maps which seemed too open and machine guns dominated which eventually made it duller in the long term (after many hundreds of hours)

Is 3 a machine gun fest? Or can you feasibly use rollers and gatling etc without feeling hobbled?

Strangely, I find physical copies of games go down in price much more frequently and sooner than digital. Guessing that stores are attempting to unload their unsold inventory. However that doesn't work for a Series S owner. Plus, Nintendo never seems to discount their titles.

They do a standard 33% discount every few weeks.

I haven't played Turf Wars in ages.  In Splatzones the best classes are Blasters, Gatling guns and Bows.  If you're up against a team with 3 players using such weapons, you know it'll be very much an uphill battle.  Then there are some other weapons with one hit kills to take in account.  And with Snipers you never know on forehand.  If they're skilled they can dominate the match.  But just as often they'll have no clue what they're doing.  Same with Rollers.  And lastly there are some supers that are way OP and can turn the tide of a match, up to 5 times during a 5 minute match.

Basically the game would be much better if there were no one hit kills.

As for the maps, I feel that the new maps are better than those in 2, but the original still has some of the best.  Very happy to have seen Floundering Heights return.

I am now the proud owner of a DeLorean. Spent a couple hours upgrading it and racing various tracks in VR. A lot of fun to drive. Sadly, there's no Flux Capacitor upgrade in the Tuning shop.

Good band but no. I never listen to music while driving. Same IRL too. I enjoy the sounds of the engines and tires.

Don't listen to music while driving??? I bet you're also the type that:

Don't need money,

Don't need fame,

Don't need no credit card to ride this train...

One hit kills? Like a roller point blank in the face?

Or from a machine gun?

I was playing some retro arcade games on the tv.

And I got into them much more than usual. Then realised, it was because I was quite close to the tv screen.

Remember in the arcades the screen was 2feet away from you?

It's more immersive and the borders on the ports aren't as noticeable.

I decided I was going to buy and play more of these old games. Then I remembered that I don't actually have a controller with a proper d-pad.

I have a joycon that does, but it doesn't work wireless.

Then I started watching lots of youtube gaming retrospective.

There are so many games we still don't have access too. Like the arcade version of Golden Axe the revenge of Blackadder.

Or SNES Batman Returns. I watched videos on all the past Robocop games too.

I push up my recliner to about 4-5 feet from my TV while playing games. 4K really looks great up close. Playing arcade DK on it that way also gives me that little kid staring up at the arcade feel, especially when using my arcade stick.

SNES Batman Returns is a good beat 'em up. I boot it up every so often.

My favorite Batman game is Sega CD Batman Return driving levels. Those had amazing scaling at the time.
