I thought that might be motivation as well, but if it was, all they'd have to do is cut the price by $50 and they'd get there pretty quick. Interesting to think about, but in the entire 7 or 8 years the system's been around, it hasn't had a price cut.

So Steam updated my copy of Doom 1 & 2 to the new Nightdive Studios 4K@120 version for free. Nice upgrade. Upgraded music and added content is cool. Shame it isn't a free update on consoles too; I checked. 4K doesn't change the visuals much but 120FPS feels great with a gamepad.

Id and Nightdive, please do the same with Wolfenstein 3D.

So the die shrink should help lower the cost...for Nintendo?

From what I've read, if the t239 was on the same 8nm node it was originally built on that is bigger than the Xbox Series S SOC.

And would be so outdated in terms of a manufacturing node that it doesn't make sense financially to produce it on 8nm in the year 2024.

People have said 4nm has come down in price and is much more reliable now in producing a high volume of wafers, with a low junked chips rate.

So it makes more sense that they would have switched, as the smaller node means less heat (there have been rumours that the internals are fanless) longer battery life and faster clock rate for the cpu and gpu.

The dock has a cooler built in.

So I can't buy the older cheaper versions and upgrade for free? Dammit.

BTW Nightdive also did the Turok trilogy remaster on Switch. They were overpriced, but recently started bundling the Trilogy together and slashing prices lower.

I was wrong. If you already own Doom on consoles, it is a separate free download. It doesn't update your previous copy, which confused me. I had to go to the PSN store and download the PS5 version for free. I assume it's the same on Switch.

Ubisoft rumored to port five Assassin's Creed games to the Nintendo Switch 2
Ahead of the release of Nintendo's next-generation console rumors are swirling that Ubisoft is planning to port over five Assassin's Creed games.

The latest rumors come from Nintendo leaker Nash Weedle, who took to X, formerly Twitter, to announce that Ubisoft is currently working on a port of Assassin's Creed Shadows that is planned for the Nintendo Switch 2. In addition to the latest Assassin's Creed game, which is scheduled to release later this year, coming over to Nintendo's next console, Ubisoft is also rumored to be working on Switch 2 ports for the following Assassin's Creed titles: Mirage, Valhalla, Odyssey, and Origins.

Notably, Weedle points out that Ubisoft is planning on bundling Odyssey and Origins together, which is presumably going to be some kind of Greek and Egyptian-themed deal. Furthermore, the leaker added in follow-up posts that the ports would be outsourced. To add some credibility to this rumor, Universo Nintendo editor-in-chief Necro Felipe responded to Weedle's claims and said, "can back up the Shadows part".

Just finished Mega Man X7. Wow.

Worst Mega Man game. Ever.

One of the worst games I’ve ever played just in general. LOL

Probably. Definitely did with this game. LOL

Just got into this Mega Man kick and wanted to play through them all. Really did enjoy playing through MM 2, 3, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, X, X2, and X3 though. Just got X8 left now.

I started that one after I bought the collection. I wanted to see all the later entries that I skipped. I don't think I made it an hour into it. Boy it was rough.

Yeah that’s kind of what my motivation was with these collections. I first dipped out of the classic MM games after 4 but got back in at 7. Dipped out of the MMX games after 4 as well. Wanted to play through the games that I missed out on back when they first came out. There were definitely some rough games in the franchise but man, MMX7 is just so incredibly bad. Kind of funny that both this and Devil May Cry 2 came out in the same year.

Anybody excited for the new Beetlejuice movie? I'm cautiously optimistic, hoping its going be a lot of fun.

As a rule, I've stopped getting excited about sequels to movies when there's 15 years or more in between them. I know there's been a handful of decent ones, like Ghostbusters, but if Blues Brothers 2000 taught us anything, it's that sometimes it's a good idea to leave the things you loved in the past.

I guess I want to be hopeful because its not a sequel thats going straight to streaming like Beverly Hills Cop or Coming to America. But yeah, keeping my expectations kinda low.

I've lost about 99% of my interest in movies in general. I doubt I'll ever watch it unless I'm sick with the flu or covid and need a distraction.

Not really a big Bettlejuice fan so I’m kind of indifferent about this sequel.

Really? Were you a big moviegoer as a kid?

Yes. Watching movies, especially in the theater, was one of my favorite things to do until about 8-10 years ago when I started to lose interest. Now I couldn't care less about them. Nothing interests me enough to spend money and time to see it. All these sequels and reboots don't help either; they actually make me feel sad for the industry. It's largely trying to recapure the past rather than trying to create something unique and new.

I worry about the games industry for the same reasons. I've been moving away from most of the game series and genres I typically play.

It doesn't help that going to the movies with the family is darn expensive these days. With some drinks and chips it'll cost us €100, which is far out of impulse afternoon budget.
