Indeed! Pretty fun times.
I was on Nintendo's website and they finally have N64 Switch controllers in stock, so I bought one this morning $49.99. Nintendo told me my order was $0.01 away from receiving free shipping.
The lowest shipping cost was $7, so I bought this $19.99 t-shirt and got the free shipping. I like the shirt a lot, so good deal.
I had the basic service, way before the expansion pak tier.
Back then there were 3 games I was actively playing that made the service worth it, Splatoon 2, Mario Kart 8 and Animal Crossing.
Since I played those to death, I cancelled the online service. Which meant I can't play Splatoon 3, it just sits there sadly.
With the introduction of games like Perfect Dark and Goldeneye on the expansion pack service, it irks me that we can't play these games on the basic package.
But also I would rather just pay to permanently own these games.
The expansion pack includes access to dlc like the MK8 expansion, Splatoon 3 expansion and Animal Crossing expansion too.
But I'd rather wait for a great price drop and get them to play whenever I want, not just when I have a Nintendo online sub.
I'm conflicted about the whole thing, I think I want to reactivate the service, but not if I have to pay for a higher tier to get real access to better stuff.
I just have Nintendo’s basic online service really just for the online functionality for some games. Occasionally play some of the NES and SNES stuff from time to time.
I let me subscription expire snd theres not enough older games to lure me back. My kids are playing a lot of Mario Kart lately but just with their cousins and themselves.
I still really don't like the forced option to pay for the service in order to play the older libraries though. I've bought and in some cases, reebot these games on the virtual console already. The idea that I have to now pay another fee to keep playing these games is ridiculous. They know who I am, they know what my past purchase history is, I should be able to continue to play them regardless of the hardware.
And, it's a battle I'm not going to win, but I'm going to stand by it and I won't pay for Nintendo online. Then again, not having a switch anymore makes that a much easier stance to take.
Agreed. Don’t like paying to play online and would rather just be able to buy those older games like we could on the Wii and Wii U Virtual Console. Sucks that they got rid of that. Thankfully Nintendo’s service is fairly cheap although I’d bet dollars to donuts that it’ll go up in price with the Switch 2.
In a shocking twist Monster Hunter Rise Sunbreak wasn’t the only game I played this weekend. I also played Sparkster from the Resparked Collection. Haven’t played that since the SNES days. Still such a great game.
It's been an N64 weekend for me: Pilotwings 64, Wave Race 64, and Mario Kart 64.
I tried The Callisto Protocol again, only to drop it again. I've been playing Perfect Dark on the Xbox this weekend.
