I'd like to throw out a recommendation for Scheming through the Zombie Apocalypse.
I started episode 2 recently and it's really funny with great art. Very foul mouthed.
It's like a (good) episode of Family Guy.
It's an adventure game but with this mechanic where you swap out items based on their value. It's harmless enough and not a punative mechanic in any way.
There's lots of pop culture references too.
Played for a bit and found it to be quite enjoyable. Kind of funny writing and voice acting. Need to play more of it.
Worth it.its Zelda lite
I was on a holiday with the wife last week and I ended up playing a lot of Splatoon3. I was playing ranked splatzone matches to try and get my rank up (duh) and in the end fell one victory short of rising 2 ranks. And since 'sizzle season' started on the 1st this means I fell back to my original rank from before I started playing last week. My attempts were ultimately foiled by our Switch's elderly battery, which died on me while I was doing a desperate last attempt to pass the bar for the next rank.
^ So after having been confronted by the abysmal battery life of our original Switch, and with the Lite having passed on, I bought a new OLED model a few days ago. It's new, the battery lasts plenty and the joycons don't drift. The screen is a bit larger and also a bit shinier, but from all the pooha I heard being poohaad about how great OLED screens are, I was expecting the difference to be more pronounced.
Edit: Try changing the screen settings to Vivid.
Yes that's true. You have to max out the brightness too.
If you ever feel the difference is negligible, hold it up next to any non OLED screen and you see the difference.
The battery is so much better too.
Its the colours mostly that are the difference. Also OLED panels seem to be evenly lit. It's not something I noticed till I got OLED devices.
Most noticeable when the screen goes dark and you get true blacks. On a normal screen you get this grey haze.
A new QLED tv I tested lately is a poor man's OLED. You can even see the corners aren't properly lit.
It may be different on OLED Switch, but I cannot do max brightness on my TV. It'll melt your eyes.
On one hand, I recognize that the game magazine was still in its relative infancy, so maybe there's a degree of experimentation going on. Editors testing different ideas to see what actually works. However, maybe it was in fact a design choice. God knows I read and reread these magazines over and over it, and even after a dozen times I would still find new little nuggets wisdom that I had missed earlier. So now that makes me wonder if that was intentional to keep kids going back to the magazine time and time again and make them feel like they really got their value.
As someone who has easily over 1000 video game magazines, the early runs through the 1990's were universally atrocious in layout, colour and font selection. I struggle with what I am going to do with them all (probably throw them out).
With the amount of time I split the Switch with my daughter I am getting tempted...
The second the Switch 2 is announced to be non-backward compatible I'll buy a OLED Switch.
Walk East youtube videos are really great to utilise the full potential of your TV.
They do 4k HDR 120fps videos. I always use the Fenhuang ancient city video at night.
I'll check it out tonight.

Dr Pepper is now as popular as Pepsi.
Dr Pepper, the un-pin-downable soda brand whose secret recipe is said to include 23 flavors. This week, we learned that the purplish-red canned beverage (see, even its label contains an enigma!) had joined Pepsi to become the nation’s second-best-selling soda, behind category-dominating Coke, according to trade publication Beverage Digest. (Dr Pepper is technically a smidgen ahead, but it’s essentially a tie.)
That news might have surprised even some of Dr Pepper’s most ardent fans, many of whom revel in the kind of weird aura that surrounds their beloved, inscrutable drink. But Pepsi’s fortunes have declined, and the good doctor’s have risen, and now each brand represents 8.3 percent of the soda market. (Coke is ahead comfortably with 19.2 percent.)

I'm a huge fan of NMH, but it's time for the series to die. The first was a great, fresh game, but the sequel was already less inspired and the third just felt forced. As someone in the Eurogamer comments wrote, and I'm paraphrasing "NMH is a great concept, it's just not a good game".
I didn't even know Dr.Pepper was still a thing. I haven't seen it anywhere in years.
