I was playing GB Tetris this morning via Retroarch using a very nice GB Pocket shader. It looks surprisingly great full screen @ 4K too. Far better than any of the screen filter options on NSO. These games deserve better, Nintendo.
This is the farewell edition with some late end game dlc tagged on.
It's good but also a pain in the ass. The two new characters are difficult to deal with in that they have different requirements from everyone else. And I can't feel a bond with these characters. The bat gives you these pain in the ass platforming segments which are tricky without a d-pad. She spouts annoying nonsense.
Then I have this parrot and I'm retrieving treasure, only the game fails to send me the letters on time so I'm sitting around wondering if, when they will come. I've done 2 and the 3rd letter just won't appear.
I just have had enough of the last 10% of what is a great, soothing game and want to get it over with. I'm heading for the Everdoor now.
Started Gabriel Knight Remake on my phone. Looks pretty great. Wtf is up with the voice acting?
Gabriel sounds like a fake southern drawl. Then when you click on things, rather than Gabriel analysing things in his own voice, there's this heavy female Jamaican voice actress narrating things. So weird.
Also, far too many, somewhat useless hotpots and a profound lack of direction in the opening so far. The game just starts and you just randomly click stuff trying to trigger a reaction.
I've seen both Sonic films but still haven't watched Mario movie even though my sister loaned me her Bluray copy a while back (she asked for it back after a month). Sonic > Mario.
I worked from home for 10 days when I had Covid the first time. I enjoyed not driving to and from work everyday but otherwise I hated it. Sitting there working on a work laptop while I could see my games and my dog staring at me all day was Hell.

On the rare occassions I gte to work from home I am 300% more productive. At the office I would say 70% of my day is interruptions. Which is kind of the point of my job I guess.

I cannot imagine it has aged well from a gameplay perspective.
I was actually thinking the same thing while I was playing. If I have to start using a guide on a regular basis, am I really playing the game at that point? Anyway, I'm probably going to be putting it away and moving onto something else. Whatever that might be, it probably won't be a puzzle game.
I think the witness is the greatest puzzle game ever made. It's tough to be sure but it's all achievable. Get some pen and paper, you will need to write down symbols, do some math, and more. It tests every sense you have, it's brilliant in every way. And then comes the revelation, maybe you noticed it.

Was busy this week maybe next time I join, if you need FF7 impressions I got them. Work has been offering tons of extra money for doing overtime so I'm doing that.
FF7! THIS GAME!!!!! The first open world section I was like ok, it’s going to get repetitive and boring. Then the game keeps throwing you crazy mini games after mini games! The queens blood card game could be an entire game of its own! Fort condor side quest was one of the best! The entire Junon sequence was incredible, no one NO ONE does scale like Final Fantasy. Costa Del Sol is a mini game paradise!
So much variety, so many things to do, so much to see! This is the final fantasy I have wanted to see since 12. A globe trotting adventure, multiple fully realized towns. A large party to mess around with, lots of customization and ways to build your squad. The combat is the best in the series, Remake was already my favorite and this is an improvement on that. Boss battles have been stellar.
I can’t believe they have done everything, everything and more.

For sure, they really went all out on this game. I did everything I could do in the Grasslands before moving on to the Mythril Mines. I’m currently in the Junon Area. Did a couple of the missions in the Fort Condor quest. So cool. Combat in the game is so much fun. Looks like I now need to head into Junon to progress now. This game is fantastic. I’m absolutely loving it.
Been catching up on the GU podcast. This new cadence is hard to keep up with. Currenlty listening to ep.147. Kind of confused what this' Aarny 4: remake' game is, but good listening nontheless.
On that work from home topic that was brought up by Rockstar on the GU podcast, I have found that the companies that seem to be the most against it are the ones that have already made significant financial investments in permanent locations. Basically the ones that own large buildings with very few people working inside. So whenever I see those companies vehemently refusing to allow employees to continue working from home, it's difficult believe the arguments are made in good faith.
I've worked in a home office several times over the past 15 years, not just in the covid era. I've definitely seen the challenges in teams working together in projects, although it's never been as easy as it is now. With a little bit of patting myself on the back, I can say I've done a pretty damn good job over the years and getting my team too online collaboration without missing a beat in person.
I'm certainly not saying a company that provides legal service support to attorneys is going to be the same as a video game developer, but I also don't think their needs are as dire as they might be saying. During a crunch time, it probably is more effective to have employees in person collaborating, but that really seems like a temporary need. If I were them, I would probably set the standard of end game development being done in person while the rest of a 5-years game cycle (or however long it is) can continue to be done at home.
Nearly finished Spiritfarer at 43 hrs.

Isn;t Civ 6 a permanent rash for you by now?

Nah, it flares up every 2-3 months or so.
Sid Meir thanks you.
Can you imagine a photo of Neil Druckman doing a photoshoot like that with Last of Us on his monitor (unironically).

That's not Civ on the screen. He must've made all that money on his flight sims.
