I took the weekend off VGPress as I was at the beach. I've come back to not much news. Despite intentions to the contrary I have not played a single thing this weekend, and I doubt I'll get time today (carpet installers).

I finished Bioshock Infinite today. It didn't ferl as exciting as I recall and Columbia felt a little nland compared to Rapture. But as the game went on, I found myself really enjoying the story, maybe my second favorite of the series.

I've been playing SaGa Scarlett Grace. It's interesting take on a budget game. It's traditional SaGa gameplay, although really refined and a horribly ugly art style. And more interestingly they pretty much stripped away everything other than on over world. Towns are just places on a map and when you enter you see one background with a choice to either talk to somebody or visit the blacksmith. That's it. Dungeons are also just places on the map, and when you select them you just go to the battle immediately. There's no wandering and getting lost or trying to find the one important person to talk to who advances the plot. It's a little off putting it first, but admittedly it is efficient.

I’ve been playing Persona 3 Reload on the XSX through Game Pass. Trying to get as much time with my system before Microsoft Thanos snaps it all from existence next week.

I've been playing original NES Castlevania with my arcade stick last night. I've never finished this one before and it's on my bucket list. Arcade stick isn't making it any easier, though!

I overdid it on RE4 Remake this weekend, so I'm taking a break for a few days until my wrist tendonitis flare up goes away. I really want to keep playing it, though. Great remake.

Still loving Octopath Traveler II.

I think it's better than the first game. There are a few blandish story beats but it comes together and surprises you too. Thinking of getting Triangle Strategy now.

So the latest rumours around switch 2 is how it will improve the way your old Switch 1 games look and perform.

So any switch game that has dynamic resolution or an uncapped framerate will be able to boost its performance using switch 2s power. This is where a 1080p screen will be better than a 720p OLED. Switch s games were all 720p or less portable because of the screen. Suddenly playing them portable at 1080p on an 8 inch screen will be a huge improvement.

Xenoblade 2, not looking like ASS portable?

And of course I'm guessing DLSS will be able to improve the resolution portable and docked. My Mclassic already outputs a 1440p image on a 4ktv and it's an obvious improvement.

Yeah, my mom too. I usually can't tell what cutscenes are in-game or pre-rendered anymore.

Looks like the PS2 is getting hit with the inflated retro price bubble now with the console going $150-175 "refurbished".

I was toying with the idea of getting one again for Gran Turismo 3, Ridge Racer 5 and the Wipeout games but nope. Too expensive.

Back in my day, old consoles and games were dirt cheap because they were old. Kids these days! Jeesh!

150-175 is a good price. I still have 3 PS2's but wish I had a back up.... What am I saying? I mean, I should be selling them all!

After a day of meetings I find another SLOW news day. It's like the gaming world has decided to wait until the MS Business Update is over with before releasing any new PR releases.

I also expected some Superbowl talk. I was home from work waiting for carpet installers so got to watch it. I've NEVER rooted for the 49's in my life, but this time, as they were the underdog they had my support.

I thought for a Superbowl game it was a good one, tough to watch at times, but hey, last minute scoring, going into overtime, it was entertaining. I of course did not watch the half-time show.

Here is a dose of smug elitism for you (in case your daily media intake is deficient) : https://www.npr.org/2024/02/13/1231159572/super-bowl-watch

I picture your Mom walking by the TV in 1978 seeing Pacman on the Atari and saying, "That Don Rickles, he's still a handsome fellow no matter how many ghosts he eats".

My Dad was not able to tell the difference between me and the mailman for quite some time, but that's a more depressing story.

Super bowl? What's that? Nyaa

I literally only watched one Super bowl commercial. The State Farm ad with Arnold Schwarzenegger and Danny DeVito. LOL

So that IGN Joe, looks like it's going to be more like a PAX Expo rather than an E3. That's a little disappointing, but definitely not a surprise. Those PAX shows draw massive crowds, so why wouldn't you have something similar a thousand miles away in one of the biggest cities in the world?

That said, I really would like to see some kind of industry show take e3's place properly. I always thought it was a good benefit to fans and the industry as a whole to have a big centralized showcase.
