It was like walking into Jurassic Park.
They built a rainforest Eco system, inside a dome and it looks and sounds amazing.
When the door first slides open you're greeted with a mini mountain and running waterfall dropping in front of you.
There are mist droplets and flower scents permeating the air.
The flora and fauna are like being in a cloud rainforest. The stuff there only grows at a certain elevation and they've recreated it here.
Also, randomly, Avatar had a partnership while we were there. There were Avatar characters and monsters there. A huge animated flying beast. There was a cave where you could play with shadows. A booth were you could use AR to make yourself an avatar.
There was a room like a scene from the movie with purple lights suspended in mid air you had to walk through.
A theatre which projected stars on the floor and wall. You could move things around as you walked, like ripples in a pond.
While I felt a bit mixed on Avatar characters being there, overall I'd say the other stuff added to the experience overall.
The flower dome is a bit... Well you have to like flowers.
It's basically trying to be a large indoor European like garden with lots of flowers. The cloud forest had monstrous wonders, carnivorous plants, stunning orchids and unique trees.
The flower dome had lots of roses and tulips. More for chicks.
I've never played Cadillacs and Dinosaurs before; it's a lot of fun. Plays similar to Final Fight..
Last time I played this version of Aliens vs Predator, I was in high school. It's still a lot of fun too.
Shame we'll likely never see either of these released on modern systems.
There was only one arcade in my area of town that had it so I only got to play it a few times. But I was always really impressed that you could play as Willow and Madmartigan. A friend of mine in school told me that if you get far enough you can also play as Sorcia. That sounded really cool, and I was always disappointed that I couldn't make it past the 3rd or 4th level.
Fast forward about 20 years or so when I finally play the game again on a CPS1 emulator. The game is still hard so I pick up a FAQ to help out, and ultimately I learned you only play as Willow or Madmartigan. It took me 20 years to realize my friend was a lying son of a bitch. And I have to tell you, it's an interesting experience when it takes decades to learn that.
Yeah, Capcom had some great games based on licensed properties back then. Konami had some as well. Wish there was more collections of those available for current gen systems. Have seen some like the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Collection so you never know.
Yup. I never would have thought Konami would release a TMNT collection, so anything is possible indeed.
They aren't on Capcom arcade classics/beat em up collection?
I bought an RG351P retro handheld device from Amazon. It came with 49GB of ROMs including those games. I've been reliving my old arcade days.
Sadly no. I wish they were. I own that collection on Switch. Come to think of it, I still need to find a physical copy of Capcom's Fighting Collection.
The only time Alien versus Predator has appeared outside of the arcade was in that overpriced plug and Play joystick dashboard controller that Capcom release a couple years ago.
And I don't think Cadillac and Dinosaurs ever made an appearance after its initial arcade and Home console releases in the early nineties.
Other than the Disney collections that they've put out in recent years, none of the licensed games that Capcom made ever showed up on their compilations.
I'd forgotten about that Capcom Plug 'n Play Arcade stick.
Love the design.
Yeah wouldn’t have minded getting that Capcom plug and play thing. Very cool looking indeed.
They only have 1 game installed, Street Fighter Alpha or other sequel. The screen quality is Suprisingly good.
What happened with Sony/ms/Nintendo. Any noteworthy presentations or games announced?
Sony did a presentation about 2 weeks ago, in the general consensus was a little underwhelming. They showed off a lot of third-party games, but other than Spider-Man 2 didn't have anything first party. And shortly afterwards they made the announcement that The Last of Us multiplayer was going to be delayed for probably a year.
Other companies that had small online showings. Marvelous announced two new Story of Season games and two new Rune Factory games. So us farming game fans are in good spirits.
Other than that I can't think of anything real notable. I'm sure Nintendo and Microsoft will have something to show later in the summer.
I think the big three probably think that they will do just fine without E3 and have moved on. E3 can be a gamble, you can hit it out of the park or be a shitshow.
Microsoft has a show coming up on June 11th and then a Starfield Spotlight event right after..
Went to the Buddha tooth relic temple today.
Fairly modern temple opened 20 years ago, but pretty impressive and opulent. They have literally thousands of mini Buddhas on the walls.
A running fountain where you can bathe little statues of Buddha.
Coin bowls to donate cash. Prayers at the back and huge statues and figurines.
Then headed to the market at Chinatown. There was a thunderstorm and we hid in a bar/restaurant that charged 5x what the dish costs anywhere else IN Singapore.
