I don't think it'll ultimately be a huge download. The current base game with all the characters they already have is just under 7GB. Doubling the number of tracks, won't double the size of the game, so even as a forced download I think it's reasonable. You can get a dedicated SD card for it for under $10.
Anyway, I think forcing people to download an update is a better solution than splitting the user base. And given the age of the game, once the new levels are out, I don't think you're going to see anyone wanting to play the old levels for quite a while.
Yeah, the Mario Kart 8 Deluxe dlc probably isn’t going to be real big. I think most every game that has online multiplayer automatically updates everyone’s game by downloading the new content via an update patch. If they didn’t do that then people without the dlc wouldn’t be able to play against those that did. Would definitely be a nightmare segregating everyone into different groups for a game like Smash Bros. Ultimate.
Closing the Wii U & 3DS eShops next year reminds me why I still primarily buy physical Nintendo games. Seems way too soon to close the 3DS eShop. Oh, well.
a couple years ago they had a big gaming music event in town, and there was a band that actually did this with mega Man 2. Some guy played while they did the soundtrack for the whole thing. They didn't do the sound effects from The blasters and such, but it was pretty cool to see.

Considering how long they left the Wii store open, I'm surprised they're closing it so soon as well. I doubt there's a lot of transactions going on these days, but Sony is keeping their older online stores open and I doubt there's much going on there either.
On that note, I need to check out my PS3 library at some point and make sure I have all of my purchases that I want downloaded.
Horizon tomorrow!!! One of my favorites, should be amazing. Still I'm even more excited for Elden Ring which I took off of work for next Friday.
in the mean time I am almost done with Obra Dinn, it is not doing much for me. A pretty bland investigation game where the story is simple and the way you uncover stuff is tedious.
I'm two rooms and a boss away from permanently opening the elevator to the final level of Enter the Gungeon.
Got lucky, I have around 7 heart containers but I need 6 fully healed hearts.
The boss with take a couple away but luckily they put a field hospital on the 4th floor which I haven't used yet. Assuming I beat the boss, I should be able to go to the hospital later and fully heal up. Then as soon as the final floor opens I can unlock the elevator.
But worried about the two rooms I have to face as they're quite large and being the 4th floor there will probably be some difficult combination of enemies.
I'm also kinda enjoying playing as what I thought to be the worst character, the pilot.
His main gun isnt very accurate but it has 8 shots, hunter has 6, convict 5.
He gets cheaper shop prices and can hold an additional active item. He can also pick locks, which doesn't always work. But when it does you build up a key collection to be used on more important chests.
Well, made it to floor 5 of enter the gungeon and gave all 6 hearts. That was fairly epic.
Now the elevator mechanic wants 300 in cash and 7 keys.
That means playing without opening chests to get weapons and without using cash to buy hearts, items or blanks.
Another epic challenge. I also finally progressed all the way to the end boss on floor 5.
Using a great weapon as your main with a decent push back helps.
I have a tenancy to use more basic weapons and save the good stuff for the bosses.
Also met the forge keep, getting all the ingredients for the bullet that kills the past will be tough, mostly because of the invisible route over the canyon. Need either a liquid gun or wings/hooks hot.

I’m hoping for Elizabeth myself. He did make for a good tooth fairy after all.

Yeah it definitely sucks when these online stores close down. May grab a few more of those VC games on the Wii U before it shuts down.

Then it revives you when dead once?
Don't know what happened. Boss was Wall monger. I had 6 hearts and somehow 3 hits killed me.
I had no idea my health would be drained that much and the weapons I had weren't powerful or rapid enough to beat him quickly enough.
It's back to the drawing board. 😩
Get back on that horse cowboy.
Also Crunchyroll is now on Switch. 5 years late.
