Saw a few videos and articles. Doesn't screen tearing mostly happen when you're running a game at a higher fps than your monitors refresh rate? So a lower framerate wouldn't trigger that?
Screw it. I'll get a LED 1080p TV instead. It will be more expensive and smaller. But you guys have freaked me out.
wait, what? I could get screen tearing?? Why do I see so many 75hz monitors?
That's the thing you're trying to avoid. I think? Although you're probably right, actually, that it's caused by the frame rate being too high. Personally, I've never had any weird effects on playing a game running at a little under 60FPS on a 60hz monitor. This is the sort of thing audiophiles complain about with speakers etc., I suspect. You really didn't need to cancel your order.
On the other hand, when it comes to speakers...
Also, there are plenty of 75hz monitors because PC games aren't limited to a frame rate set by the developer.
I ordered the TV last night. Its coming today. Its just for a bedroom, I was looking forward to a 27" as I've been using this old ass Sony 17" since 360 came out. The TV is 24" LED 1080p and supposedly has a "razor sharp" picture according to the manufacturer. Reviews seem to agree. It's hard to find good 1080p tvs under 32"s so I'm glad I got this model. Thanks for the help guys, I wasn't even aware of this frame pacing or tearing issue. I ordered a 5 in 1 out HDMI.
Looking forward to hooking up Wii U, especially because I can also play wii games through it (at 1080p with Mclassic) and hopefully my VC games will work. Streets of Rage 2 and Super Star Wars will finally be played again!
Then I need to find a cheap Xbox 360 Slim, it has an HDMI out right?
If Mclassic works out I'll be getting a retrotink to use with it. I have an old multiscart adapter that will see the first use since the days of Gamecube 😅
I'm really leaning towards solidly recommending Mclassic to you guys. Its 100 Dollars, think about the price of an HD remaster, it pays for itself within 2 games and can be used with so much different content.
Doesn't look good on a 4ktv (well, some good on some games, marginal improvement depending on the game) but if you get a 1080p TV or cheap monitor your consoles, even XB1 and PS4 level and below can look great or at least a bit better.
1080p Blurays through Mclassic look better on a 4ktv almost universally.
Hopeful on dvds through Mclassic on a 1080p set, as it can make dvds 4k but the end result even when decent is still irritating, colours are different, the frame rate sticks out more like there are frames missing.
Once I move the Wii u over next week I'll give you a report on how it looks in 1080p as I've only played wii games in 720p on a crappy 1080i tv
It was on a stand like point blank in front of me. It used to be all right but it's lack of hdmi made it a bit of a nightmare. Getting converter cables and audio extractors. Thing looked like a Frankenstein monster, so many cables coming out of it. Had to be hooked up to a stereo for sound. Only 720p so I was never happy using it for anything above 360 level hardware.
I started playing Panel de Pon (Super Famicom) on Switch yesterday. I never played any games in this series before, but I'm having quite a lot of fun with it.
Damnit the TV is no good. Its okay but I can't live with it. Wondering if it's because of my amazon stick. I use it to watch YouTube and Netflix but YouTube high quality videos now look skanky. They looked fine on the 720p TV. I've been watching a lot of 4k YouTube, maybe that's throwing me off. Gaming looks decent but not vivid enough for me. Blurays look... Okay. Meh! You guys screwed me over! On the positive I found a great hdmi switcher on amazon, beautiful form Factor, high quality, 5 hdmi inputs and self powered, self switching, has a remote that you don't really need.

I hope you're all happy now!
Everyone apologize for freaking GG out. Or not...it's amusing.
RIP Michael K Williams. He played Omar in The Wire.

Wtf a 17" TV.

21:9 ultra wide ratio. How exactly would 16:9 games look on it?
