Yeah a bit disappointing that there is apparently no increase in the specs. I do really like the larger screen though. The increased storage space is nice as is the wired Ethernet port. Much more stable kickstand is certainly better. The black and white colour scheme is ok but I still prefer the black and grey one of the original. Wouldn’t mind trading my original one for this newer model myself. I wonder if this one runs cooler.
Meh. Pretty much what I expected, though. $350 price is stupid. Switch is 4 years old; Nintendo couldn't just sell this new one for the same $300 price and phase out the old model? Also, why not announce this at E3? Nintendo is odd.
honestly, if they put this out at e3, everyone would have shit on it. This is a pretty minor upgrade all things considered.
That said, I suppose it makes more sense. Switch 2 is probably 2 years away from launching. Maybe even less. At this stage of the game, I think it makes more sense to stay the course with the current hardware instead of introducing a higher-end system, only to outdate that with a successor.
Someone over at Eurogamer speculated about the chipset Nvidea as a successor to the Tegra. It incorporates Ampere based integrated graphics, meaning that the Switch 2 would be in the same generation of tech as the latest Sony and MS machines. It'll be less powerfull by a margin of course, but it'd mean that it would be relatively easy to port games to Nintendo's new console.
Now Switch Pro is off the table we need something new to get our hopes up on.
Having looked some more on the image I posted yesterday, I find it amusing that the announcement image shows 2 versions of the design. The kickstand looks different in each image.
I finished the Yuffie FF7 expansion and it was pretty damn cool. She plays differently than any character, it's made more to focus on blocking and movement. The ending is a great tease for the next part, I can't wait.

Can't stop playing Sundered. It's a really good Metroidvania. I'm 8 hours in and 50‰ of the map cleared. The combat and controls are excellent. Its quite addictive pushing in as far into the depths of hell as possible, before you die and respawn to upgrade your armour etc. On the one hand it is addictive on the other I feel the mechanic is kinda cheap in that they will sunder you with ridiculous odds until you die at points. But it is fun making a mad dash escape. Only thing is that you cannot pause to check the map. So you end up on the other side of the map wondering where you are. However I think that only adds to the atmosphere and sense of adventure.
Oh BTW the bosses are not just screen filling but take up 3 vertical screens. The camera zooms out and you're basically ant sized. I feel they could have done far more with story presentation though. It feels like wasted potential.
Finally picked up the Anker Soundcore motion plus. It sounds great! Love using the app to switch between sound modes. I don't even go above half of its capable volume. You can really bring out the bass guitar for a live band feel. Or have ultra crisp clarity and switch modes depending on your mood. So good. Only 75 Bucks, amazon sometimes bring the price down. Its usually 100 Bucks.
BTW Unavowed, this highly acclaimed graphic adventure from pc is now on switch. Also I tried Deponia, its excellent so far. Visually great, funny main character. So many games to play ☺️
I got bored and read through the GU's score index. I didn't mean to read all of it, but Aspro clearly put a lot of time in to it and I felt bad about giving up half way through. Especially since I'm probably the first and only person to have consulted it.
Anyhow I am now hotly anticipating what must be the motherload of all scores as nearly all the games were listed as 'score coming soon'.
I'm still kinda amazed by how Deponia looks. I know it came out quite a few years ago (I bought all 4 games) but it still looks awesome. Really chunky and vibrant, highly stylised. I love just the cohesiveness of the environments too. After Edna and Harvey I expected the game to be good, but its better than I hoped so far.
Stylized? Cohesiveness? My God, and you call yourself a gamer? How many frames per second does it run? Does it feature raytracing? Bumpmaps? Mipmaps? At least some parallax scrolling?!?!

The new kickstand makes it look like a surface product. Although I expect it to be one angle only, and not the Surface 'infinity angle' thing.
There's a strange rectangular hole in the back hidden underneath the kickstand though. Wonder what that's for.

What a shit. No 4k zelda I guess, same 1080p PS3 graphics. So that's an easy pass for me, I hope a proper switch 2 is coming.
