Not sure if anyone else was interested, but GameStop just released their Black Friday deals. Little underwhelming in my opinion. there's a handful of good deals here, but nothing that hasn't been offered before.
My father is interested in trying VR, so I will be joining you in the FaceBook VR Hellscape (if you end up getting one), Supreme. I'm really hoping the Link improvements continue, because (assuming it doesn't cause fatal nausea) the only thing in VR I can see being of long-term engagement for me is sim racing....which I finally have enough strength and coordination to actually do!
On the bright side, it solves the question: how much is a human soul worth? About $500 AUD, as that's the difference in price between it and the HP G2 Reverb.
If you're willing to go tethered, there are other 'mainstream' options that aren't much more expensive.
There's also a vr humble bundle at the moment. It's on steam, so only available for tethered play.
Also, congrats on building your strength up. Keep up the good work!
I couldn't find any similarly priced PCVR headsets with a resolution in the same league, but correct me if I'm wrong. The Rift S is a way better choice for sim racing and not much more expensive, for example, but the Quest 2's non-existant SDE except on white backgrounds will greatly increase the chances of me being able to actually use VR.
I'm definitely eying that Humble Bundle...and there's also virtual desktop, so technically you can still go wirelss! Pretty sure my crappy ISP router is 5ghz...but it is crappy, so that may not be viable. You can get decent wi-fi 6 routers for cheapter than the link cable lol. Obviously not for cheaper than a good non-branded USB cable, though.
And thanks man, I appreciate it! I've been able to amass 7kg of more (mostly muscle) body weight this year, which is a 10% increase. This is the first time in about a decade and a half I've been able to deliberately put on weight at all, let alone gain some muscle mass. The difference it makes to doing daily activities is huge, and it comes with the added bonus of being able to do things like play DiRT Rally!
What bothers me about the Quest 2 (besides Facebook obviously) is that the ISP can only be set forcefully into 3 positions with 5mm between them. This makes it much less userfriendly for professional purposes with different people.

Some people claim that the software settings automatically adjust to in between positions, too; some people claim they don't. But you can definitely move the lenses themselves between the 3 default settings.
So when will you be acquiring your Quest 2? Since we'll both be selling our soul to mefisto Zuckerberg, how about trying out the vr chat room thing some time?
I'm still playing Animal Crossing New Horizons. Last time I checked I'd played for over 830 hours. That was weeks ago. Surprised the trees aren't brown yet as Christmas is closer. Have to say the online community has dropped off a cliff since the lockdowns have ended. Even with the UK lockdown hardly anyone is online anymore that I can play with. What's annoying is that I can see friends are playing it online but I cant contact them until we happen to have our gates open for a random visit. The best friend system means you miss out on so much interaction with other players.

I started Night in the woods. It's cute, but it's bit grabbing me so far.
I just noticed that you can get a free month of disney+ if you have gamepass. Might watch some Mandalorian that way.

So who bought a new console?
The good news is you actually can!

ETA 20th of November. And for sure!
I'm in next gen!!!!!!!! I have a ps5!!!!!!! Full impressions and a new thread later!!!
I was thinking of waiting for any black Friday deals, but I doubt there'll be any as the quest 2 only recently launched.
You don't seem as excited about next gen. as you were in the past.
