The quote from Phil Spencer at 7 minutes into this is the worst thing I've heard spew from his mouth. Kind of scares me about Microsoft's continued focus on the wrong things. Trying to make the quickest buck instead of strengthening loyalty. Typical American company.

Sony's PS2 on PS4 Feature Has Been A Disappointment.

Still not as big of a disappointment as no PS3 games.

There are still many great companies from the USA, let's not be rude. I'll go watch video now.

What he said was true though

Those big single player games like Uncharted, as much as they are loved don't sell like Overwatch, Destiny and PUBG.

Hell, I'm not a fan of the games as service model, but it is the current reality.

To be honnest, I've never been a fan of the current reality of gaming ever since the days of the PS/N64.  I feel that even Nintendo is acknowledging this shift though, with season passes for both Zelda and XC2.  And I probably won't be buying either.

Yeah that is kinda scary. So everyone is now aiming for online multiplayer service like games now?

I mean, if that's all they want to focus on is shooter type multi-player stuff to milk people dry, I'm all set. eSports type stuff is not really my thing, nor is being fleeced for every penny.

I agree with a lot of what the guy says in the video. Especially about MS still not really feeling like they know exactly what they want to do anymore. I feel like since about halfway through the 360 era, they lost their way. And that's right around the time when Sony removed their head from their ass and got really good again. And it's been that way for years now. MS always feel like they're trying to latch on to the latest trend or the easy buck.

What I used to love about them in the OG XBOX days, and the early 360 days, is that they were focused on unique, exclusive content and giving you the best value as a hardcore game player in both hardware and software. I mean the games that I used to love from MS were those epic story based games. Even the first few Halo games...Halo 1 is one of my favorite games ever, and it has little to do with the multi-player. It was because, at the time, it was an incredible fresh FPS with a really cool universe and backstory. That's the kind of thing I would never get from a games as service PUBG type bullshit. The Fable games, Mechassault, Crimson Skies....all great stuff.

For the most part over the last 5 or 6 years their exclusives have gone down the shitter. Halo and Gears are still cool, but they've lost some serious magic. Maybe due to the loss of the og developers. Fable is dead. Mechassault and Crimson Skies are dead. Rareware....lolz. And they don't really have the cool exclusives from 3rd-parties anymore either. But hey...at least they paid for PUBG exclusivity...yay.

You and I are the opposite on this era. The N64/PS1 era is probably my favorite of all time, outside of the Genesis/Snes era. That feeling of breaking new ground and exploring games in 3D worlds for the first time was a very special thing.

Great news on the Saturn, Mega Drive, and Dreamcast stuff in the works. Hopefully the same care will go into these as the Nintendo Analogue systems. Sega consoles with modernized controllers and HDMI...maybe even a way to download the games or use roms would be fantastic.

I'm not saying that I didn't enjoy the era, but it's then that games became grittier, something I don't care for much.  3D and everything, the unlimited potential,...  that was great.

ROMs are going to be a requirement at least for the Saturn features. The really good Saturn games are difficult to find and pretty expensive these days. It would also need to be region-free, given that so many of the Great 2D fighting games the system had never made it to the West.

You didn't enjoy blowing zombie heads off with a shotgun blast in Resident Evil? Or Lara's pointy titties? Or sucking the blood out of helpless villagers in Blood Omen? Sad

Yet love one of the ultimate shooting games, Splatoon. Nyaa

I know how you feel, though. I'm just a generation or two behind you.

I'm kinda begrudgingly playing Splatoon 2.

It's not that I'm not enjoying it, I am.

But the custom gear system and my compulsion to have the perfect gear, means that I am always, always, always playing with less than ideal gear, just to level it up, farm the ability chunks and assign it to a different piece of gear.

And because of this, when I'm finding it tough, I know it would be easier and I would do better with the correct gear, but I NEED to level this shit up.

And I'm facing people who don't care and are just using the correct gear for their weapons. It doesn't help that you need 60 ability chunks to assign 3 minor perks. And even if you level up two through tickets, you still need 30 chunks per item to assign that last slot. Given that there are tons and tons of gear and they even added even more gear in the recent update - this could take a while.

Ugh.
