I was thinking that with the imminent arrival of the XbonX I'd wait for some nice promotions and might finally pick up an Xbone. I could then wallow in the greatness of such current and last, even last-last gen games I had not been able to play.

What if the super volcano blows?
I'm getting ready to upgrade my GPU for the first time since 2012. The GTX 680 is still serving me well for 1080p gaming, but you can't really push it over that for any newer games. So if I want 4k, I need to upgrade.
It's basically down to these two cards here. Whichever one I can find a better sale on in the next few months will be it. They're both beasts so I guess it doesn't matter which it is, but my 680 is an EVGA and I'd like to stick with them. They make the best quality stuff imo.

Did you consider getting one of those new AMD GPU's?
I thought about it but to me nvidia's cards are more reliable and better built. I had the AMD 4850 back in 2008/2011...it was a good card but it ran super hot...one of them melted on me. and the driver support was nowhere near as good. I'd be more willing to get an amd CPU than a GPU at this point. But I have an overclocked i5 and I don't see much need for more right now just for gaming.
