Standard ps4 games will take a hit. Optimization will be spent on neo not on crappy old ps4. The bad performing ps4 games will get worse and worse.
It'll depend on what platform devs target. I can see this working out like NFS: whatever on the WiiU, or MHU4 on the New3DS, where the differences were smoother framerate and better textures. I just don't see devs targetting the NEO. It's not like devs will be able to just use higher quality assets they created for top-end PC's, as the differnces in poly counts between current gen consoles and the highest presets on PC are fairly minimal. No 3rd party dev is going to invest much into getting the most out of the NEO. I'm guessing it's stuff like lighting, textures, foilliage density and post processing effects that will see the biggest increase in quality.
I don't think the PS4 Neo sounds too bad myself. All PS4 owners will still be able to play the same games and Sony has placed some good mandates to help control the balance between the two. The only real problem here is just a psychological one where some people may feel bothered knowing that there is a slightly more powerful version of a system they own available. If it's that much of an issue then I say that they should just trade up. It'll be interesting to see how this affects the current PS4 hardware sales from now until the launch of the Neo.
Carnage having a meltdown over neo ps4. He said "Nintendo might be the industries great hope"!
Then NX is unveiled and it's total shit. The end.
This isn't a commentary on how you view Carnage, Vader, but it's kinda sparked something in me that I feel the need to share:
I find it odd that gamers tend to get "stuck" in a "moment in time" kind of mindset.
Maybe it's about the first time you played a game 25 years ago; that game holds a special place in your memory and you tend to look at it through rose-colored glasses, whether or not it's actually aged well over time...
...but it's applied to other gamers too. I find it odd that everyone assumes Carnage is the same guy he was back in the GameSpot days and refuses to get to know him now based on set-in-stone memories. He and I used to argue on the GS forums, we get along fine now; as a matter of fact, he probably appreciates my opinion at the Ring of Fire more than most. Up in Flames and I got into heated debates over GTAIV and I started to dislike him a bit over it; now he and I share a common interest in indies.
It's weird how some people change and others refuse to...
**Oh... that Travo guy over there, tho... he's a real douche... always has been always will be!**
I'm fine with carnage, he's a good guy with a weird phobia of Nintendo. He also rarely plays online, I would love to play with him on some game night with everyone.
But yeah I think he is the same guy, we just understand him better. Actually most of us are still kind of the same. Rag is a good example of someone who has changed, seems like gaming just doesn't do much for him anymore.
Really want to fight him in Street Fighter... see him on all the time, but he hasn't accepted a fight request yet!
I have never played with him on anything and we play most of the same games. It's weird.

I think you're in love with Carnage. He's not a poster here but you talk about him constantly.
Lol, because everyone here has a huge history with him. Don't act like you don't miss him. If VGpress had a main villain it would be carnage.
It's you and your Splathong mongering.
I'm about to reach breaking point at work. Maybe I should give up my job and begin the hobo life....live off the grid for a few years.
The hell! Romancing the Stone soundtrack!
I love that movie.
Damn, hope things get better for you.
I'll be fine. Just tired of jumping through hoops and ungrateful students. I really feel it around this time every year.
