I know technically they didn't make the game, but to me that kind of makes it worse. They're letting outside devs work on their games and don't seem to interested in any form of quality control. I get that they don't consider Sonic Boom a mainline Sonic game, but I doubt the general public realizes that.

Exactly.  Even when Nintendo lets others handle their franchises, they check on them make sure the game will be of a certain quality.  Sega just appears indifferent to it all.

According to IGN, Sega refused to sent out early review copies, so they knew just how bad it was, and released it anyway.

To be sure I am a fan of the genre, but the statement "highest selling first month of sales for a NEW survival horror IP" is kind of like winning the "Tallest Midget" award.  What are they even comparing it to?
