Well, DOTA 2 right at the top of their list kinda makes it look like random bullshit...
Why, DOTA2 is the biggest game on steam?
Because every single person who "owns" it has played it. Obviously that is highly unlikely to be true.
Its free to play, the only reason to download it is to play it. Its not like other games that get packaged into bundles or have a crazy sale so you buy and dont play for who knows how long.
Of over 45 million people who had downloaded the two games when they collected their data, are you seriously telling me everyone had played them? At the very least there might have been thousands of people who had finished downloading them, but not had a chance to play yet; even if they were going to within the next few hours. But maybe all this is explained in their data collection article (I can't be bothered reading it, though). But without that it appears utterly absurd.
I am just happy that consoles are not dead.
Good point.
The only point in downloading Dota 2 is to at least try it, but I see Foolz' point too.
This is a photo from the NY Times.
Looks like something outta Forza to me:
The Sonic Boom topic on CryEngine 3 is rather misleading. The one thing that the engine couldn't handle was split screen rendering for multiplayer.
Also, I hope to never see Diddy Kong in Mario Kart ever again. Get your own kart racer, or be on your way!
Interesting to see that only about half of the people who downloaded Portal from Steam played it.
It sort of is, sort of isn't. Split screen rendering is demanding and Cryengine couldn't do it before. So technically yes they had to enhance the engine for it to work.
They had to implement split screen rendering. It's not like it was beyond what the engine was capable of producing, it just wasn't a feature. The article implies that CryEngine couldn't cope with what the WiiU is capable of, but such is not the fact. Having read it I find it to be a very biased article, of which the goal is to show that the WiiU is capable of some stuff that for example PS3 and X360 are not. It seems to me to be more of an issue of no developer having created a split screen game with the engine before, and the engine simply not providing a cookycutter solution to do so.
One, you have no proof of that and two: Semantics.
"Well, it was the one thing the CryEngine is missing as a native feature: split-screen. the ability for the engine to render two images at the same time on the television screen and on the Wii U's gamepad."
Cryengine did not do split screen rendering, BRB needed it for Sonic Boom so had to modify and enhance the engine, so it could do it. The article title is:
~~Sonic Boom Required An Enhanced Version Of Cryengine
And it did require an enhanced version, for split screen, because it didn't support that feature.
Split screen rendering is more intensive, PS3 and 360 likely couldn't output a 720p + 480p image to a separate source like the Wii U can. If it can please pony up the examples. And there is no indication that Cryengine could do split screen rendering on 360 or PS3, we haven't seen it, we won't see it so that question is redundant.
I don't disagree with you on the article bias though, William Usher the writer is a huge Sony and Nintendo Fan and rags on the Xbox One repeatedly for fun. Reading his articles are sometimes the highlight of my day. We need more blatantly partisan, but often funny and creative writers on the net, instead of a bunch of characterless fanboys pretending to be professional on most other gaming sites.
I am in that store that has a ton of old games. Time to ask if you guys have head of some of these weird ass games.
Anyone play eternal Ring for PS2. The tag like is "who said fantasies had to be final?" Oh man this has to be good just cause of that . I see you fight dinosaurs.
how about cold winter on ps2. "No tux. No license. No mercy ." Yeah! "Battle intel legend enemies who hide behind cover and call for backup!" Wow! Lolol.
Semantics? To enhance: to raise to a higher degree, to magnify, to intensify. Cryengine can do 1080p 120Hz with a bunch of effects enabled the WiiU could only dream of, which, to me, is beyond 720p+480p, regardless of the fact if you're rendering one or 2 viewpoints. Perhaps it is something PS3 or X360 couldn't pull off, but really, that's besides the point.
They did not have to enhance their engine, they needed to implement a feature.
And if you read the whole article, it is beyond doubt that the author is twisting the facts to make it seem as if the WiiU has some secret powers that nobody knows of that will now be tapped into. You don't prove anything by quoting the few morsels that seem rather objective when taken out of their context.
Eternal Ring is from From Software. It's a King's Field of sorts, or one of the Grandparents of Dark Souls.
Wow! I can honestly say I don't remember Cold Winter. That's pretty rare!
10 Little-Known Facts about
Mr. NeedlemouseSonic the HedgehogSo. I am playing an RPG about High School-age students dating and having babies with multiple partners, taking those babies into battles with you in a 3D Persona style dungeon. Where old men speak fondly of firm teenage breasts. Where young girls talk about how their breasts feel and how the shape and size of them attract boys to them in an almost erotic style. Where teachers routinely hit on their students. Where there's soft-core, suggestive cut-scenes and the touch screen is used to, well, touch the young girls over strategic parts of their bodies. You literally play God's Gift to women and all the guys in your school constantly tell you how jealous they are of your prowess and often try to spy on you "mating" with all these girls.
God Bless you, Japan, God Bless you, Atlus! Ridiculously fucking fantastic!!
DAMN IT, if I read this earlier I would have bought it. Did you play all these games or just know about all of them.
Errr... You've seen my BackLoggery...
