I finished Assassin's Creed 4, a solid 8.5 rating. Good game, good characters, but the wow factor has been completely zapped from this franchise. Time to give it a rest.
Played a bit more of Luigi's Mansion 2. Real solid game, same great vibe that the original had.
Played some more Killzone Shadow Fall. Its not the best shooter ever but its well made, and I'm having a good time with it. The visuals are beautiful. The controls are very solid. PS4 controller works so much better with shooters than the crap PS3 pad.
And what I have been mostly playing is Super Mario 3D World. Awesome game.....I may actually like it more than Galaxy. It really brings back the vibe I used to get from the old Super Mario games moreso than any other game in the series since the N64 came out. But it does it in a clever, modern way....its not just a NSMB style clone of the old games. I played it all day yesterday and completely lost track of time. Its near impossible for any game to have that effect on me nowadays. I'm almost done with it in fact.
EDIT: Oh and Outlast.....lol geez I forgot all about this awesome horror game. Like halfway through and loving it. Scary atmosphere= great horror game. It actually reminds me of Condemned in some ways.
I'm right there with you. The first weekend I was able to sit and play it, I barely got off the couch. Time just blinked. After some reflection, I actually do like it more than Galaxy. I may have felt differently had I played Super Mario 3-D Land, since that game seemed to have been the building block for this, but since I hadn't this felt extremely fresh and innovative to me. Really caught that older Mario vibe, with a more modern look and feel. And
NEX Remix is fantastic! U finally got a killer app! Make more, Nintendo!
Now if you will excuse me, I'm off to buy Balloon Fight, so I can build up my epic Joust skillz again.
I have not been playing anything.
New job has been taking up about 11 hours of my day, not counting the commute. So by the time I get home I am beat.
Watch Dogs wii u officially delayed so that ubisoft can focus on getting the other platform version out quicker. Their exact quote says to focus where most of their buyers will be.
i think it will be canceled
^ If it does come out on U, Ubisoft will likely release it the same week as Mario Kart 8 or Smash Bros.
fuck I hate UBI ...
Bravely default demo is the GOTY so far. The difference in how I was playing when I started the demo at the star of my flight to how badass I was by the time I landed was just incredible. Complex but easy to learn hard to master. It's totally Old school FF, even with the world map! I still have a lot to do. What a demo!
I'm gonna have to get this...
They may as well cancel it at this point...in fact all 3rd party games should be cancelled on Wii U at this point. The war is over.
What happened to your post?
Anyway yeah man, I can't quite describe it but I'm glad you know what I mean with that old Super Mario feel....the old games just had a different atmosphere. Not that they're gritty games or anything, but they deffinitely had less of a light hearted, mushy mushy feel to them than the newer games. Super Mario 3D World really nails that vibe at many times.
Some of the levels towards the end are fucking tough....shiiit. I can't believe how many stars you need to beat the game.
Which reminds me, there's a certain Aussie Dude who would probably like this game very much. It has all those different jobs like in FF3, is much more fun to play...
...and there's nary a Mini spell to confuse things... or said Aussie Dude...
Wait until you play the main game!
There's an incredible "Help me, Obi Wan Kenobi. You are my only hope" moment that was completely unexpected and uses a mostly forgotten feature of the 3DS in a way that's MIND-BENDING and AWESOME!!
Pro-Tip: Have your instruction sheet that comes with the game handy when you first start to play!!
I crossed an entire airport, my flight is delayed so let me check if I got anyone new.
So is the town thing in the main game? How much emphasis is put on street pass and friend summon and all that.
I got one! There is one other person in the Charlotte airport that basically just started the demo too. He is 2:30 in, I am probably about 2 hours.
It's pretty big --BUT-- it doesn't --HAVE TO BE-- Street Pass. You can register friends online, you can visit Nintendo Zone hotspots and get passes that way...
Here's the thing: If you leave your 3DS on and in sleep mode when not playing, that one dude you have will complete his work overnight while you are sleeping. So the side-stuff is going to get done, one way or another. It's strange, but the timer stops for the hours played for the game while in sleep mode, but it still passes for your villagers doing work.
You can use Sleep Mode, you can get Street Passes, or you can purchase Potions with actual money to get the stuff done. Street Pass is the easiest, most practical and smartest way to do it. This was a very well thought out part of the game. Either they'll make extra money, or advertise their game for free. I don't think gamers will have the patience to wait overnight for results, but the option is there, nonetheless.
Exciting, isn't it? Hey. Did you notice the light for the 3DS street pass and Shang Tsung's soul stealing powers are the same color? Coincidence? Hmmm...
I was reading reviews, lots of 8s. They say the story and some pacing issues is what holds this game back. The demo has no story, I am finding the combat to be such a breath of fresh air, especially after FFXIII's automatic combat. Here you have to be in full control for every fight.
When all else fails, look for Japanese tourists or large groups of children if you want passes...
...just try not to look TOO excited when you spot a large group of children... for some reason parents don't seem to appreciate that much... Hmmm...
So let's recap for anyone not familiar with the demo, guys basically square made a SNES like Final Fantasy game and called it something else. It has FF items, FF spells, FF job system, even some FF enemies.
The demo is like an entire mini JRPG, in terms of leveling and combat. Leo do you progress as fast in the main game or was the demo sped up?
I don't know if this was in the demo or not, because I didn't realize these features existed until I played the full game --but-- hitting "Y" on the 3DS activates "Auto" battle during fights and pressing left or right on the digital-pad Pauses, Slows Down or Speeds Up battles! AWESOME!
Also, the actual game isn't as forgiving as the demo. Enemies you earn 3 points for in the demo, net you ONE in the game. They accelerated your growth in the demo just so you would experience more, faster.
There's also a slew of other streamlined features and perfecting touches in the actual game that I'll let you discover yourself!
