Anyone have recommendations for steam games that fit the following criteria

- 2D action and/or platforming
- Not a puzzle game
- Doesn't have randomly generated levels

Tell me to get back to rewriting this site so it's not horrible on mobile

Yoda, give SteamWorld Dig a try. Its a platformer, but has a lot of similarities with the original Metroids (much less backtracking though). A little tough to describe otherwise, but it's one of my favorite games from this year and absolutely meets your other two criteria.

LOL Every game is randomly generated now. Its the indie thing to do. Maybe Guacamelee fits that.

Paper's Please is awesome!

That said if it were an NES game from the old days it would be viewed as a cool unique game and nothing more. Really cool game, I dont think its award winning level though.

I hope you played deep enough into the game to get pass the simple document matching segment. I'll go deeper into why I think it is award worthy at some point, probably in podcast form. But it mostly has to do with you doing the thing in the game exactlly as you would if you were doing the job in real life.  There is very little separation.  That's just one reason why I juggle it back and forth with other GOTY contenders.

Also, Vader, you are falling down on the job.  Where is your annual thread summarizing all the GOTY's from all the different outlets?  Where are the conversations about the hot-cold reception of Bioshock Infinitie and the shunning of GTAV?

Stick with it if you can, you will get rewarded. Even if you drop down to the level where they give you 5 credits a day.  I'm not sure it will change your mind, but at least then you'll have played enough to see where some of the proponents of the game are coming from.

I'm sort of addicted to it. It does keep things rather interesting too almost always adding some new element after every day. But the whole family thing is terrible, my son died and its like nothing happen, it just made the game easier to manage. That whole aspect of the game is poor.

Most people I've known labelled as artists would have made that post for the sake of posting the link.

That's kind of strange. I played through twice and didn't notice anything different the second time around. I guess maybe the placement of the minerals, dirt, and gems that you dig through. But all the platforming sections were identical each time. I call bullshit on their own description!!

Where did you see this? I would love to have an exclusive like that.  If true, let's hope Ubisoft does it right.
