Now to choose........... this or Splinter Cell. Any ideas guys?
I loved the game but see it as a huge missed opportunity in many ways. On its own terms it failed to show ambition in some ways. The story was bare bones, there was no quest system and it failed to be expansive. It could have been like a tighter Oblivion type game with those awesome controls.
As a sequel to Red Steel 1 it was a total curve ball, it took a mainstream Yakuza, explosive shoot em up and turned it into a cel-shaded sci fi western? And it released far too late to capitalise on the goodwill from the first game. I would take Red Steel 1 with a solid frame rate and RS2 controls anytime over RS2. I just wish Ubisoft would do it. Thankfully Goldeneye 007 came along and finally delivered a great Wii U FPS.
That said, RS2 is still a great game in its own right. Just needs a bit more story, more diversity in environments and a bit more ambition.
From the demo the block move is essential but it sounds like you just upgrade to it. Not seeing the problem long term. It sounds like this guy needs to play the game on the easiest setting. The only problem I had with the game demo is using unite hand when you were short on heroes. I beat the demo on all difficulty settings and its a pushover on the easiest but still enjoyable. Organised chaos but unabashadly fun.
Agreed....beautiful too. Some of the scenes look so good it makes you feel THERE.
The Wonderful 101 (7.4) IGN
IGN Italy gave it a 9.5
Mama Mia.
A lot of reviews are mentioning control problems in general terms but I've yet to read more of them to see exactly why, I found the demo was pretty much solid control wise.
So last night, my front tire collapsed as I was taking a corner and I had to have my car towed to the mechanic. Either the ball joint or axel gave out and my car just came to a dead stop. Fun.
What pisses me off is that I've known about this issue for over a year. My car has been making more and more thumping/ squeaking sounds in that time, and I have brought it in to be fixed 4 fucking times with some excuse each time like "oh it just needs to be greased up" or "we didn't have time to get to the front end but it should be fine".
Then my fucking wheel falls off. Luckily I wasn't hurt and wasn't going fast, but fuck man. Assholes should be cutting me a deal on this one.
I have been playing:
GRAND THEFT AUTO 4 PC:
Game is still fun as hell to play.
METAL GEAR RISING PS3:
This game is a lot better than I expected for some reason. It feels tighter than Bayonetta (who isn't) and plays like a Ninja Gaiden game set in the Metal Gear universe. The production values are much better than they were in early demos too...its very nice.
DARKSIDERS 2 Wii U:
This game is really fun so far...I am liking it more than the 1st game, which I also liked. The whole loot system is much better here...you actually get excited about picking items up. What's nice too, is that the controls are actually almost identical to Metal Gear Rising, so its easy playing both at the same time.
If you're looking for a genius use of motion controls, look no further: Family Ski 1&2. Laugh all you want, but the game has you holding the nunchuck and Wiimote as skiing poles, and it works flawlesly. Pure magic. It even supports the Balance Board, although that was a tad too much for me.
Resort is ok. A couple of games are real duds, but jetski and archery make up for it.
It's an Ubisoft game, and a sequel to a not so very good game. What did you expect? Not every game requires the scope of games like Xenoblade Chronicles.
I am a big fan of Wii Play, Family Ski is not below me.
What about The Conduit 2?
As long as you realize it's just a game in which you ski, you'll have a blast. Me and my friend, we totally 'got' it and could play it for over an hour at a time. Then we had this other guy over and he was hurrying so fast to get down first, striking a victory pose and everything. Nothing happened! He's like 'what the fuck is this?' 'well, you know, we're not really racing, we're just chilling on the mountain, enjoying something we'd normally have to travel 800km for' He didn't see the amusement value in it. So then we beat him at Mario Kart.
Is that you Reggie?
My body is not ready.
I bet he's hung like a horny burro.
I've gone to 2 different shops...its like all the shops around here take on so much work that they can't do the job right. Fucking annoying. This time, they have no choice. I really need to just get a new car as mine has reached the point where its still in good shape but has constant small issues. I'm just not ready to go back to monthly payments and jacked up car insurance.
The hell? Just watching Splinter Cell blacklist video reviews, the 360 PS3 versions cutscenes have insane screen tearing, the wii u version has no tearing but drops frames during cutscenes instead.
Oops! If you Google The Bureau: Xcom Declassified as of 5:50PM EST, you'll notice a "dead" link to the Destructoid Review. Looks like someone jumped the gun on the embargo...
Bad news, if you were even remotely interested: It's a 4.5 out of 10.
CRAZY BUTTOCKS ON A TRAIN!!!!
Super reliable industry insider "Crazy Buttocks on a Train" over at gaf has posted his usual criptic insider info. I wont bother posting the original post cause its a mess on purpose (so they cant track him) so here is the translated info:

ruthfact1+
No Live Stream at Gamescom for "real reasons." Xbox 1 architecture not fully complete. Latest version of SDK from a couple of weeks ago dropped performance by 15-20% across the board. He says this thing happens all the time as a part of console develoment, and will eventually get fixed. But there is NO chance of early October release...
truthfac2+
... Certainly not for all 21 countries. Localization is BS; look at official/spoken languages in countries that did/didn't make it. I was right on yield issues, and this is pushing launch titles, Smartglass, etc. back. (One unified process having its costs?)
trythfact3+
Late October Launch is set for PS4. Sony's SDK is fully ready, and you can basically "master2 final right now. Today." Not sure what that means, but sounds like the console is basically ready.
truthfacte+4
FYI, though people were mad about Bayonetta going exclusive to Wii U, you'll be somewhat unhappy about what MS is moneyhatting with Platinum. Other Japanese devs are "in play" too, but Kamiya is the only 1 he's 100% sure about. The game is not for North America or Europe, which doesn't make sense.
truthsfact$5
Big Park cancelled a game. It was a MOBA. 100% Dead. The whole studio is now focusing on TV services. All the best talent went to Big Tusk or left MS entirely. Rare is still Kinect focused, regardless of what you guys may have heard.
truthfact6
New Indie publishing policy is not yet set. It will be post launch.
trutgh fact*#7:
Early September surprise.
Apologize in advanced. Everything I saw over the last 24 months was no chance of Kinectless SKU. It was solid and concrete info.
Well, about that...
Whispers of optional Kinect (not in Box, SKU happening early next year).
Enough smoke now to point out the fire before the announcement in September.
So in summary no Xbox One till Nov. Localization is screwing MS over in other countries or something like that. PS4 on Oct. which everyone has been saying so at this point it might as well be official. Platinum games exclusive for Xbox ONE. Maybe kinect less version next year but dont hold breath.
