Nintendo Power said

Wii U GamePad technology is more advanced than you think - Michel Ancel

Rayman Legends chief gives the Wii U controller the thumbs up

Of all the Wii U games confirmed so far, there probably isn't one that uses the GamePad better than Rayman Legends. Perhaps one reason is because Ubisoft's Michel Ancel loves it. Indeed, he thinks it's even better than you think it is!

Ancel eulogised about the Wii U controller in the latest issue of Nintendo Power, saying that the main reason why developers are able to use it for clever ideas in games is because the response time is so good. In fact, he thinks, Nintendo's rivals have something to worry about.

"I think this is where Nintendo is really out in front of things," said Ancel. "The technology inside the controller is quite a bit more advanced than what people might think. It's really responsive The response time is crazy, in fact, and I think the competitors will need some time to [get their solutions] this responsive."

He added: "It's crazy because the game is running in full HD [on the television], we are streaming another picture on the GamePad screen, and it's still 60 frames per second. And the latency on the controller is just 1/60 of a second, so it's one frame late. It's crazy, it's so fast. It's almost instant. That's why it responds so well. So it can be used as a real game-design thing."

Rare is "working with extremely early prototype hardware", job ad reveals

New info suggests Rare has its hands on a 'rapidly changing' next-gen Xbox.

A job listing for Rare has revealed that the studio is "working with extremely early prototype hardware co-developed with teams located off-site", adding credence to the rumours that the Microsoft-owned studio is developing a title targeted at a next-generation Xbox.

"In this role, you will be a crucial part of a passionate team of gameplay engineers, working with designers and producers to create stunning, groundbreaking game entity reactions & input interpretation," reads the job ad for a gameplay engineer.

"During prototyping you will occasionally be working with extremely early prototype hardware co-developed with teams located off-site. You will need to showcase possibilities to inspire our designers, quickly iterating even when the underlying platform may be unstable or rapidly changing."

The ad refers to Rare's unannounced title as a "jaw-dropping, never-been-done-before Rare project," and drops further hints that it may be built around a next-generation Kinect, listing "natural user experience work, such as touch, motion or voice assisted games," as a requirement.

It was previously rumoured that Rare is developing a next-generation Xbox title after job ads revealed that the studio was working with DirectX 11, the API around which Microsoft's next console is expected to be built.

Microsoft has yet to announce its next-generation Xbox, despite the console being referenced in interviews and job ads.

Earlier this month, it was reported that Microsoft had boosted security at its Redmond offices to prevent next-gen leaks.

Sweet. I can't wait to see what this next gen game is that Rare is working on. Also rumour has it that the 720 may have a total of 8 GB of RAM with 6 going to gaming and 2 going to OS functionality. That'll be totally awesome if true.

Sounds excessive, windows 7 only allows you to use 3 gb of RAM.

Did you guys know that there is a Tales of Vesperia movie?

I agree...but I can't bring myself to wait until the whole season is over and it comes out on video. I got lucky when I 1st got into it, a friend of mine told me to check it out and said I would love it, so I went and bought season 1 on blu ray, watched it all the way through. And season 2 was about halfway done at that point, so I just watched all those episodes on demand.

Now its week to week....too much waiting. Same thing with the game. Its awesome but I'm not into the episodic content...I'm waiting until they release the entire thing before playing the rest.

That major boss music is by Ian Gillan from Deep Purple.  It's cheesy, but I love it.

You have problems with the camera, but most of the time the player controls it no?  At least that is how I am playing it.

Now I am deeper into the game I am enjoying some of the darker elements.

Oh and also, not sure if I talked abuot this before, but they occasionally apply DoA bobo physics to these characters that are otherwise very innocent and cartoony.  At first I thought I was imagining it, but later on they do it more and more in cutscenes.

I am completely enjoying this game, I could play this kind of HD RPG all year long.

Yeah the player controls the camera, it's not fixed, but the overworld view is quite narrow and with no tilt, so it makes you feel kind of claustrophobic. Indoors for some reason it always gets in my way. I can fix it most of the times but when I change screen or whatever it starts all over again.

Oh, Oh!!! I'm excited!!!!  My only problem right now is that every game I wanted to get at launch got delayed. No Pikmin 3. No Rayman Legends. Just Mario is left. I'm still considering the new Sonic Racer but the impressions of that game have been uneven as hell, which usually means it's shit.

As long as Sumo Digital is making it it will be good. (Just checked, they are developing it). EDIT: Racing games should be "interesting" with the asynchronous controllers.

Photos of the 38 Studios auction are up: It appears that this is just the Big Huge Studios equipment, they have not put up photos of 38 Studios home office yet.

Nothing too interesting, but it looks like they are still austioning off dev kits (MS was going to intercede on those).

It's too far away for me to be excited, 30 Nov for us. Also I am probably more excited about the features than the actual games. I want the wireless screen, gaming free from the TV, touch screen and services, net browser etc etc. IMO Nintendo has yet to even show us the big guns, mario zelda, metroid, Xenoblade equivalent etc.

Wish Ass Creed 3 was a day one game and Pikmin 3.
