I start off early this weekend:
What have you been playing?
SKYRIM for me.
Been drifting in and out of several games without ever getting hooked into any as of lately. Finally settled on Skyrim; got married, crafted an epic glass armor set and have been fooling around with my recently married Lydia. To be honest, there's nothing in the marriage interaction that ever makes you actually care about your significant other in Skyrim, however, I was shocked when I instantly hit the "load" button the moment a deadly dragon/dragon priest combo killed her while adventuring with me. Guess I'm too soft for letting even a fake wife die on me. Closing into the 50 hour mark and just joined the empire legion. I haven't even seen a couple of the major cities in the game. Playing at the adept difficulty but thinking of raising it.
I've played a bit of Uncharted 3 this weekend. I just started Chapter 19.
Nobody likes the Wii anymore. Even Zelda fans.
PC version FTW.
Saints Row: The Third. Being an enthusiast of the prior games it took me a while to adjust to some of the minor changes, but once I got over that I completely enjoyed the game.
It is clearly a labor of love from people who have thought a lot about what makes a game fun and also drops the elbow on the GTA franchise a few times in nuanced ways.
Almost anything I say about the game is a spoiler, but they keep topping the outrageousness of the game about every 40 minutes for 17 hours (if you go through it fast).
Skyrim. It's a testament to how enjoyable a game can be when time and again I've said "I'll never give Bethesda my money EVER again!" only to buy it again on 360...
I know open world games and their multitude of possibilities opens the door to lots of bugs popping up, but if they could only find a way to make their games as STABLE as they are deep, Bethesda would be one of the (if not THE) premiere game development house(s) out there. I love the idea of this game. I love the way it plays. I love the graphics, the music and the character and creature designs, but I'm always holding my breath while playing, expecting something bad to happen. So far, save for a few hard lock ups where I couldn't even go to the 360 dashboard, it's been OK... well except for that one time I saw a horseback rider literally ricocheting off of mountains and then flying off into the air for no apparent reason whatsoever... I just hope it continues to run as well as it has been! (I LOVE the cinematic kill sequences they've thrown in there too!)
Demon's Souls.
Game is fucking hard. A quick save feature would have been appreciated.
Haha yeah Leo. I've stood in awe as mammoths spawn out of thin air a few hundred feet above ground, only to fall down in slow motion unharmed and start doing their thing, like a godlike majestic descent was the most natural thing in the world.
I love when things go wild without warning. Being in the middle of a dragon/2 giants/ 2 mammoths/ pack of wolves/sabre cat fight is something that no Skyrim player should miss ever. Like a wrestling cage fight, only cooler.
