Didn't get to play as many games or as long as I wanted at all this weekend. I was completely, physically exhausted after this last week! Feelin' a bit better today, so I put some quality ME3 online and single player time in. Haven't played nearly as much Xenoblade as I would have liked.
I must say Thank You to Agnates, Iga and GG for keeping the hype on this game going, as I wouldn't have anticipated it nearly as much or found it as satisfying to finally get it, of it weren't for you three guys!

Wut about the rest of you Easter Bunnies?
I read a whole bunch on this:
Books > games.
I am such a nerd.
Not much gaming here. Spent the weekend back at my hometown and it was mostly kicking back and relaxing. After beating ME3 I definitely needed some cooldown time. Possible candidates for my next game:
Still wondering if I'll ever find a copy of Xenoblade over here.
I just started Resident Evil: Revelations. And of course I played some Rune Factory: Tides of Destiny. Not too much of that though. I was traveling this weekend, visiting my wife's family in north Florida and that pretty much limited me to a little time with the 3DS and that's about it.
I have a VERY strong feeling Skulls of the Shogun is going to be the next Plants vs. Zombies, but taken to an insane level...
I cannot wait!
Steel, have you looked into it at all?
I see you have been playing PvsZ lately!
Huh? Me? Nah, I haven't played PvZ in a while now, I'd say I played it for about 20 hours or so. The other 350 hours belong to my wife. o_O
I just watched a gameplay video of SoS. Seems a tad complex, but could be interesting.
Playing Devil's Advocate (about the EGM socre of Xenoblade) : he might be more familiar with the genre than many of the "me-too" crowd currently reviewing the game.
I for one will miss the middle-tier publishers. I miss the days of Midway, Akklaim, Interplay and hundreds more. They took more risks than the top tier, had a broader portfolio (at least back in the early 00)'s and beyond) and had a more auteur quality to their work.
Playing this weekend:
Final Fantasy 9 and Valkyrie Profile: Lenneth. I was counting up my VP games and was mildly surprised to see that five game were released in the series.
Anyway, enjoying both. Valkyrie Profile is a turn-based RPG with Metroidvania levels. These days I could imagine it being made by the Maramusa guys rather than Tri-Ace. Unique combat too, they map each of your party to one of the four face buttons, and you can use them one at a time or in combination.
Lenneth is the PSP remake of the original, which I was able to pick up quite by accident when it was released. I went to Wal*Mart looking for Vagrant Story, and by the time I got there I forgot the name, so I got Valkyrie Profile instead. Which was a good turn of fate given how few of them were available (about 70,000) and how much the grey market price went up.
So geeking out with two simultaneous JRPG's. Groan.
This is amazing.
Emerging from my self-imposed message board exile, I've been playing Final Fantasy XIII, Crysis 2 and trying (*TRYING*) to play Silent Hill 2 HD, but it's not connecting with me. I never played SH2 back in the day and it's frustrating the shit out of me. Bad combat, loading between rooms that reminds me of Resident Evil, BGM and sound effect that remind me of RE2, the list goes on. It's only a GameFly rental and as such I can just send it back, but as much as I hate to admit it I don't wanna give up on SH2 because I hate seeing a big "0%" on my trophy list. Heck, I've got numerous games in the low single-digits but not a single zero, and as frustrating as Silent Hill 2 can be I want to finish it at least once.
I've heard that you are not supposed to engage in combat with Silent Hill but just run away instead, whenever you can.
I've also read the HD remakes are one of the few examples of the HD treatment not outdoing the original. Any idea what the very first possible trophy is just to get you into the single digit %'s is?
The SH HD collection goes beyond not outdoing the original. It's an inferior product in every possible sense. A halfassed hack job handled by what seems to be a clearly incompetent developer. It's like the dev team in charge of the port went out of its way to actively fuck up the games they were working with.
^Slow clap for no backward compatibility. Anger/ entitlement rising.
@SteelAttack: So I guess I should be really glad I wasn't a fan back then, eh? I'd be even worse off right now.
@aspro: Just by looking at the trophy list there are things like "Acquire the book of Lost Memories" and "Acquire the Chainsaw" which made me think those are items I'd just find, but turns out a lot of trophies are for NG+. I may just beat the game once and be done with it, 'cause according to both trophy guides I've read the Platinum requires 6 playthroughs to get all the endings.
Silent Hill 2 is so overrated. SH1 is still the best in the series and SH3 is still pretty awesome.
@Dvader: I concur on SH3's awesomeness! I've yet to play that HD version, but back on PS2 it was my first (and up to now, only) Silent Hill. The early scene with the train scared me pretty badly back then. I can't remember much more, but I was psyched when I heard about the HD collection because of 3, not 2.
