I'm still playing Crysis 2 and Ballad of Gay Tony. More frequent posting here and work has been killing my gaming drive.

I hope to finish them up this week and get to some other stuff.

I think I'm a bit leery because I just did the pre-big boss (on the ship).  That was tiring.

That was one thing that annoyed me at times with the game. It just felt incredibly archaic; I would have liked a bit more freedom in what I could do to take out the bosses. I don't know why it didn't bother me in RE4, though.

I've also got The River King - Mystic Valley for the DS. Actually found it after getting it a couple years ago and then having one of the kiddos lose it. Going to have to spend some time with that this week. It's not Harvest Moon, but it's in the same ballpark.

In other shitty news I dropped my Droid and the screen shattered so now I'm going without a smart phone. Hope I can make the transition to the stone age (aka 2009).

I have that for the PS2. I think it's the same game The River King: A Wonderful Journey.  I did not know there was a DS version.

The DS version flew under the radar of everyone. I had no idea it was out either until I stumbled across it at a store and snagged it up. Frankly I'm not a fan of the series, but River King games are a far and few in between and I hadn't played one since the original on the Gameboy. I figured I'd give it one more shot. Then again the reviews for it are awful so maybe I'll just lose it again for a few more years.

I myself am a European translator who worked on several point and click games from small studios over here, and when Sven said the sales for AAI 2 wouldn't cover the translation costs, I couldn't help but feel quite skeptical. So the first AAI sold 284.000 copies in the west, with a mere English translation : for the sake of the argument, let's just say that the second AAI would sell only 220.000 ; if we are to believe you, you would lose money in the process.


What bugs me is that every point and click I've worked on, let alone played, were not only translated in 5 languages at the very least (French, English, Italian, Spanish, Deutsch), but DUBBED, which costs significantly more money than a mere textual translation as you surely know. Not only that, but point and click games rarely sell above 50.000 copies worldwide : and despite that, the publishers manage to make money in the end most of the time (which I know either because I keep in touch with the development team, or because sequels keep getting released). And in case you're not familiar with the genre, yes, a quality translation is every bit as important as it is with the AA series, and most of the scripts (everything included) total several thousands pages.

I haven't really been paying attention, but I think I'm like 10 hours in. It seems to be winding down now. Great game, but unlike the original and the expansion pack, this game kind of loses some steem towards the end IMO. Maybe it will pick up again. The 1st game was just so incredible that it can't be matched.

EDIT: Scratch this....it just got badass again.

Are we looking at a game in the mid 9 range like Crysis & Warhead? No. But definitely mid to high 8's. They stumbled a bit in a few areas here like lack of open world gameplay, lack of destructibility, and blatantly copying shit from Call of Duty like is all the rage now.

HV wont be making it, they probably found a good way to code water effects in Conduit 2 and Nintendo asked to see the code.
