The biggest problem I see with Kinect is that it is clearly greared toward the non gamer. But its on a console that has a reputation of being THE gamers console. Its going to cost a lot. Its going to have a ton of menus, Xbox Live accounts, a bunch of stuff that will confuse mom. I don't see it mixing. Kinect should be seperate from the 360, if it was I can see it doing very well but as long as its tied to a console I don't see it working that well.
That said it is unique enough to survive and make a name for itself. I do think it will do better than Move even though I think Move will be much better for gaming. Move has hook at all, its going to be a mess to sell the thing with the camera and wands. It is so much like the Wii they will have an extremely hard time convincing people that its something new. I think it will get lost as just a PS3 add on that for the most part gets used by gamers. Kinect can have a life outside the gaming world.
Uh-oh.
No way are the motion controllers going to give MS and Sony another 5 years. Nintendo is using 3DS as a bridge to their next console, so how well it sells will determine when the next Ninty console comes out.
Yeah I can live with the $150 price for Kinect myself. Would have loved a $100 pricetag, obviously. The prices for the games though seem a bit too steep. They should probably be at least $10 cheaper.
Did they say what the pricing was going to be for a slim without kinnect? Or do you have to buy kinnect?
That's the real question. Lifecycles are usually 5 years, which means all things considered, a new Nintendo system could conceivably come out at the end of next year. Would people feel ripped that the Wii couldn't last 10 years or would the next Nintendo system be able to leapfrog the current systems with something totally new?
I think Kinect would be cool integrated into TVs.
So it is $150. F***
That's:
£150 USD
£103 UK
$180 Aussie
$157 CDN
124 Euros
No way am I buying that.
holy crap, really? let me know about these things in advance and if you're willing to put money down.
Generally agree you you dvader. I'm thinking move will sell just a little bit better though. Especially with the high-ish price to opt in.
Excellent. Yeah, that's a fair deal. I wonder if they will discount the existing ones (it's surprising we have not heard abuot supply chain problems / shortages, as they had to have dried up production).
And HDMI too I assume. Sign me up for one, that's for sure. I still have a 12 gig 360![LOL](/tiny_mce/plugins/emotions/img/smiley-laughing.gif)
I am guessing $250 Australian (if at all).
LOS ANGELES – Performance Designed Products LLC (“PDP”), a worldwide leader in the videogame accessory market, today announced the upcoming launch of the first licensed online chat headset for the Wii™. PDP’s Headbanger® Headset brings online headset chat to Wii for the first time. When used with compatible games, players will be able to send voice messages, converse online, and chat simultaneously in real time.
“We’re delighted to be working with Nintendo to create this exciting product,” commented Tom Roberts, Senior Executive VP and Chief Technology Officer at PDP. “This important project is a testament to our engineers’ software and hardware expertise. We look forward to working with developers and publishers across the world to bring their players a new way to chat online using their Wii consoles.”
Steve Singer, Nintendo’s Vice President of Licensing, added “PDP has shown its ability to create innovative peripherals that meet the high quality expected from a Nintendo licensed product. We are pleased to partner with them as an official licensee for both Wii and Nintendo DS accessories.”
Among the first titles to be supporting the new headset are Sega’s Conduit 2, a science fiction military FPS with co-op and competitive online multi-player game play.
“Being able to bring headset network chat to Conduit 2 on Wii is a huge win for us, and for Wii gamers,” said Eric Nofsinger, Chief Creative Officer at High Voltage Software. “By incorporating the new Wii compatible headset into Conduit 2, we are able to immerse gamers into the action like never before. The microphone allows for crystal-clear communication to your Conduit 2 friends and foes alike.”
PDP’s Headbanger® Headset for Wii is anticipated to be at retailers across North America and Europe by October 2010.
Features:
• Seamless, high-quality online chat for Wii gamers
• High-quality, noise cancelling microphone and earpiece
• Usable on either ear with no need for adjustment
• Aesthetically matched to the Wii console and accessories
• Mute button and volume control integrated into earpiece
• LED indicators for system live and mute functions
• Adjustable, flexible microphone boom for maximum comfort
• Fully licensed by Nintendo
MSRP: $24.99
Glad I didn't get a Wii Speak if this ends up being a fully compatible alternative.
Edit: Nevermind, single earpiece, lame. Or maybe functional. Maybe the earpiece will only transfer the chat sound and you get the game sound from the regular TV speakers? Idk...

.07 hours I think.
I started out with a 20 GB 360 but picked up a 120 GB one over a year ago. With all the games I have now and how I use the full game install feature along with all the other games and content I download I'm constantly juggling for space. 250 GB's will be much welcomed for me.
EA is 5 minutes away. Get in the dustbin thread nao.
A years late headset, working with Conduit 2. Yay.![Hrm](/tiny_mce/plugins/emotions/img/smiley-undecided.gif)
