Wired turns out some good analysis pretty regularly. I like how the article was not the usual polemical views we are used to reading about Sonic-related gaming.

Pay at a bank? Fax? Woah. Welcome to 1988.
I'm playing Urban Chaos Riot Response. This game is even better than I remember it. They have bonuses for everything, goals throughout each level. Ah...
It's a lot like Arkham in many ineffable ways.
Story not worthy of the board. These non-stories drive me nuts: (hey Lehto, "Bite Me!").
With first-person shooter Halo: Reach nearing its September 14 launch, developer Bungie is putting the final touches into the game.
But that hasn't stopped the Seattle-based studio from implementing some exciting last-minute features.
One of them involves "vehicles vs. biped physics", creative director Marcus Lehto revealed on the Halo: Reach developer blog.
"We are still having fun with last minute “fixes” (which some could argue are really new features – shhh, don’t tell Harold, our CEO)," Lehto said.
"For instance, I just came in today and met with our campaign design lead, Chris Opdahl, and he showed me something he and the engineers cooked up yesterday with vehicles vs. biped physics that I’ve been begging to see happen since I started Halo1 back in late 90s.
"I won’t spoil the fun by telling you what it is, but needless to say, it will make you a very happy player to finally see this."
What could it be? Who knows? But we can't wait to find out.
Find out what we do know about Halo: Reach over at our hands-on preview.
that is totally unacceptable. you should let NoE headquarters in Germany know of this bullshit.

Yes I was serious, I posted the white flag of surrender because it's not worth arguing about. Why are you still attacking, the Geneva convention has been breached, by a Canadian of all things.
I didn't mean it as a sass to you or something.
I'm not even going to read the rest of your post because it's not worth it so I hope you didn't insult me off hand over such a silly issue. I seriously put my hands up and waved the white flag back there.
I think what bothered me was the "insipid" comment. She said it with such revulsion as if she was going to vomit. I've played a lot of bad games, but never to the point where I despised a game so badly I would call it insipid. How does a game even do that to you? And the 3D comment at the end and the body language she was using, my mind was just blown. It was like a non-gamer talking.
Jesus Christ. What the hell happened here over the weekend?
What the? Half of me is LMAO here and the other half is very sad that we're all arguing here about this.
It felt like being attacked
I guess it felt like you were getting irate with people getting irate at Morgans comments. Kinda like you were saying it was wrong to "talk freely". A lot of people find what Morgan said to be dumb, so said that it was dumb. It kinda felt like you were saying, wha whaaaa whaaaa, you babiesz crying about it, you don't even have the right to say that.
But she did say that she loved platformers and then.... Phoenix Wright points out a contradiction. Most platformers have cutesy, happy presentation. At this point the dramatic court music would be playing.
Then she said it should be more 3D, when the whole game is 3D. At this point the 2D sprite of Morgan would be sweating in the courthouse and the judge would be getting ready to hand down the guilty verdict.
Yah. What's sad is that I invited a friend from another forum telling him how friendly we were (which we usually are) and he's probably seen this mess and decided not to join. Anyhow it looks like you guys have moved on from the weekend bickering, sorry to bring it all back but I wasn't in the mood to be online.
For my part, there are no hard feelings here.
As someone who's perpetually constipated I disagree.
To be honest, that kind of stuff looks intimidating to me. Like how I won't get Sin and Punishment or Monster Hunter.
Woooooooooooooooooooooooooooow.
This still looks too much like an ordinary cover based shooter to me, just with cooler animations and what not, being Japanese and all (though its visuals look Western). I expected more. But the melee stuff do look cool. I just hope that's not all it is, a cool looking TPS, I expected something jaw dropping.
Hmz, interesting.

I was playing this at the weekend. I'm on the final boss. Overall so far it feels like it just gets a 9.0 by the nose. It's a little linear overall but the combat and controls paired with the visuals and setting make it a great buy.
Was also playing this. Game is consistently fun and satisfying now. Much better than the first game IMO. I love the ranked battles. I don't think I've ever enjoyed boss battles as much as this. In so many games the bosses are either too hard (or cheap) or too easy. In the No More Heroes games I feel like I'm fighting against an equal, the difficulty is just balanced perfectly so that I can eek out a win on my last bit of life and get that adrenaline rush.
And because usually you're katana to katana you get that feeling of being in a an intense light sabre dual. Very, very cool game.
Ack, it looks like Gears of War, but faster.
There are so many sci-fi shooters these days I think Mikami might have missed a trick to make the game stand out more.
^RE: NMH2 Personally, I dug the bosses in the first game more for their crazy settings and personalities -- like the guy who wanted to sing at the ballpark, the cheerleader, the mech in the desert. And they were more surprising. Ahh... memories.
A lot of people say they prefer the bosses in the first game because they get more of an intro and exposition. I get that as in the second game they just throw a couple of bosses at you with no intro.
I think I like the bosses in both games, I think in terms of gameplay they are executed much better in the second game with level design, hiding spots for instance, fairer attacks, destructible scenary and all.
I can dig that. My fave boss (now that I'm thinking about it) was that shopping cart lady boss. Once you figure out it is like a vertical shooter it is a much easier level.
It may be, indeed, that I liked those bosses due to the intro's.
