HOLY SHIT! Those numbers for Modern Warfare 2 are INSANE, and awesome to boot. This is the best multiplayer game I have ever played. Huge kudos to Infinity Ward for totally delivering the goods with a kick-ass game. I knew the sales for the game would be crazy when I saw there were over 5 million people just on the 360 leaderboards alone about two weeks ago.
Excellent sales for NSMB Wii, Assassin's Creed 2, and Left 4 Dead 2. Also nice to see Dragon Age make the list as well. Mario Kart Wii still making the list? Wow, just wow.
Thanks for pointing that out. Now I can't unsee it.
The Sony family of consoles is killing Microsoft... (yeah I know weak).
It's a little disappointing to me that the PS3 did not outsell the 360. COD sales softer on Sony doesn't surprise me, most gamers played MW1 on the 360 so it's natural they would not switch over to the PS3 version even if they had subsequently picked one up.
I can't find Vaders Top 25 games of all time list. Can anyone link me? (Yoda?)
I'm ready to do this.
Which is exactly why we could expect to see a real Conduit announcement from them.
The VG Press Greatest Games Ever list.
Thanks!
"I don't think it's just about console sales month in and month out because, frankly, if someone buys a piece of hardware and doesn't buy any games and doesn't go online then the experience becomes very limited. It also doesn't provide a benefit for our third-party publishers. If you dominate with first-party, you're going to shut out your third party. Our goal is to have as much exclusive content as you can." - Microsoft's Aaron Greenberg
Wow at MW2, that is incredible. And the difference between 360 and PS3 is massive as well. NSMB Wii is no surprise, it will have long legs and be on the list for years. All the usual Wii suspects are there, meh. Great numbers for AC2, L4D2 and Dragon Age. As expected the 360 would beat out the PS3 these two months. Its still rather close though. The Wii is going to massacre the competition again. The DS is a monster that will never be stopped and it will be by far the best selling system of all time.
Oh and the top 10 is useless, we need a lot more info.
Holy blatant copy Batman, Dante's Inferno is GoW with a different coat of paint. Its shameless, everything is nearly identical. I knew the moves before looking at the move list cause I know the GoW combos, like hold triangle and you will knock enemies in the air to do an air combo. Everything is color coded the same way, the way you get health is done the same, the button mapping is practically the same. The only difference is that you get this cross attack which is a ranged attack.
Like most copies they are not as good as the original. The combat is ok but does not feel as fluid as GoW. The graphics are not that good, some of the models are almost last gensh, at least its 60 FPS. The story and setting are the only real differences here. The story seems like it will be told like most game stories, quick cutscenes with minimal dialogue. At least they copied one of the better games because of that it is still fun. There is one boss fight which was ok. You get to ride this big monster dude at the end, that was cool but again GoW is doing that now and it felt better in that game.
After playing GoW3s demo this game feels so far behind. It is exactly as I expected, this game will be the worst of the major action games to hit next year. This is classic EA, grab a license and copy an existing template to fit that license.
I saw that yesterday, if you look since its a UKk site they are all casual UK devs. Even Climax (Shattered Memories) guy is mistaken - hardcore 3rd party games have succeeded on Wii already. Even MH3 has sold over a million in Japan alone.
I agree with a lot of points, but hearing casual small devs (some of who don't even develop for the platform) who churn out junk - complain about other companies churning out junk is hypocritical and patronising.
Everyone is too quick to blame the platform for sales too. Let's see what happens when Silent Hill isn't a blockbuster. Let's try and forget that it's a franchise with dwindling returns, or the fact that the last few Silent games have been shite, let's forget that half the reviews for Shattered Memories are like 50% and that it's on a platform with no experience of Silent Hill games whatsoever, or that Konami is refusing to advertise it and that the game is 6-7 hrs long.
No, lets all read the articles on how Wii fails another mature game. Let's all ignore Resident Evil, Red Steel, three Rabbids games, Guitar Hero, Call of Duty, Monster Hunter Tri et al. They don't count.
This is what I said about Dead Space
I mean they even copied the little animations.
It's been 1 whole year of playing City folk, every day. I think that deserves at least a congratulations in the thread. Uncaring bastards. Tortimer > VGpressers
