On rails-wiiware bionic commando confirmed!
Icarian looks really nice.
Judging from both the game's website and, more importantly, its official press release, it appears that Infinity Ward have dropped the name "Call of Duty" from upcoming title Modern Warfare 2.
Oh crap. This means only one thing. Activision wants to bring out Call of Duty with Trearch EVERY year and Modern Warfare with Infinity Ward EVERY year.
Joanie loves Chachi.
Just got a copy of Dragon Ball Evolution.
Wish me luck lads.
Interesting that they're dropping Call of Duty name - can't read links either (blocked, and unfortunatly, proxy servers have already been blocked too) Have they said officialy why they've dropped the name?
No info why they dropped the name, just that they have dropped the name. Probably they do not want people to confuse their game with the other inferior Call of Duty's.
I wouldn't like to see a new game from both each year though!
What the hell? Open world Metal Gear Raiden? I just dont know what to think. I have MGS 1 and 2. No PS2 or 3 so no 3 or 4.
Now this weirdness. I would prefer a DS MGS like GTA.
I would assume you have MGS2 on something that's not a PS2 then?
I'm sure they'll pull it off! Sounds wierd though. Have to agree with GG, an MGS on the DS could work so well, aslong as they made good use of the DS features and didn't just make silly mini games
Has there been more info on it and does it look good? Will check later anyway
Yeah just did the updates. I have it on Xbox. Only played up to the bit where you are shooting that boss behind crates. Cannot be jacked. I want a top down DS game. Like GTA DS. Having a fixed top down perspective and some nifty touch controls would work really well.
It's by Level 5, in co-operation with Studio Ghibli, 20% done on DS and there may be a home console version. We all assume Wii. As you noticed we post a lot of news each day, like 40+ updates a day multiplatform. Which means our search box is totally awesome. Type in another world or the japanese name Ninokuni.
Studio Ghibli DS game site opens Wow, that certainly looks Ghibli
Here, pics from Ninokuni Another world:
Here is the stuff you're after:
http://www.thatvideogameblog.com/2008/10/09/level-5-president-talks-to-famitsu-part-2/
Level 5 president, Akihiro Hino: Ninokuni’s most outstanding feature is that Studio Ghibli with be in charge of the art and animation. Now that Studio Ghibli is handling the visual side of the game, it has a very charming look. The plan to work with Ghibli has been advancing since we announced that we were working on “an RPG in which you fight with your heart.” It was only very recently that the deal was finalized, but now this project, which has been in the oven for so long, will finally see the light of day.
Hino: The packaging is still a moving target, but the game will definitely include a book. The book is designed to look like an old spellbook. It’ll have all sorts of stuff inside like a bestiary, magic spells, and so on. For example, you might find a door that can only be unlocked by magic. So you have to look in the book for an unlocking spell and use the stylus to draw the spell you find there.
Kato: So you play while looking at the book?
Hino: That’s right. You play as if you were a real sorcerer. If there’s information you want to know, you can get it from the book and use it in your quest. For example, you may come across a demon that’s so strong you just can’t beat it. So you look in the book for information on the monsters that inhabit Ninokuni, and you might find a hint on how to kill the demon, or you may even find that you can feed the demon a certain item to put it to sleep and continue on without killing it. There’ll be short stories, and hints within stories that will help you clear dungeons and such.
http://www.thatvideogameblog.com/2008/10/10/level-5-president-talks-to-famitsu-part-3/
Level 5 president, Akihiro Hino: At this conference, we announced the Nintendo DS version of Ninokuni, but actually, there will be a console version available as well.
Weekly Famitsu editor-in-chief, Katsuaki Kato: Really?! Has the platform been decided?
Hino: No. Right now, we’re focused on the development of the DS version. First, we want to finalize the game mechanics. The Nintendo DS is well suited to development through trial and error; it’s easy to work with. We want to establish the link between the book and the game well, and then when it comes time to switch to the console version, we can make an even more polished product. We also want to add some story and remix the game a bit so that even people who played the DS version will enjoy it, but we’re still deciding on exactly what would be optimal.
We’re also working on incorporating different mechanics into the book itself. For example, you might need to use a special magnifying glass to reveal an image or something. So we’re examining designs along those lines as well…
Kato: It will also come with a magnifying glass?
Hino: Well, we’re still discussing that, but we’d like to try. The lens uses a fiberous, silk-like material, and it can reveal images. Glancing at the page, you can’t tell there’s an image there. You wouldn’t so much as think there might be something hidden there. But when you find the right spot with the magnifying glass, the picture becomes visible. It’s an incredible technology.
Kato: You can do that?!?
Hino: Yes. I was surprised too when I saw it in testing.
Kato: Wow, that’s some real magic.
Thanks again for that, really appreciate it!
Any of you guys fan of Ghibli? Any one else interested in this game at all?
You be better of asking who is not a Gibli fan over here.
You'll appreciate this thread:
http://thevgpress.com/forumtopics/ponyo-on-the-cliff-by-the-sea-the-movie-event-of-2009_100.html
Let me describe the pics and video for you till you get home. It looks like your typical top down rpg only all 2-D and with glorious Ghibli art. Imagine the town from Howl's Moving castle, european city.
Some other pics and video show a lower almost side viewpoint with a 3-D character in the foreground and 2-D backgrounds. The main character is a young boy, brown hair with blue trousers and braces and a yellow shirt. He wields a wand. He has a sidekick which is a weird shape. The trailer had a cat king sort of like the Cat Returns and it seems like.... holy crap Joe Hisashi is doing the music.
