Anyway, the real point of this post is asking for the next movie to watch. I'm personally deciding between either Totoro or Mononoke (if I spelt it wrong, apologies). Spirited Away is on the list of stuff I need to watch again. Anyone wanting to help out?
Mononoke Hime is much better than Totoro, so start with Totoro first.
P.S. did you finish Haruhi suzumiya? And what are you impressions of it? And GG why haven't you made a anime thread yet?
Depends if you saw Howl in English or not, as I've tried both and English is horrible. As is the Mononoke dub. The problem with howl is that they try and tie up the loose ends within the last two minutes of the film. Watch it a second time and it becomes much better.
Coming off Howl I would go for Totoro next as Mononoke is another long, big picture, whilst Totoro is lighter although slow at times.
I did a couple of big animation threads, not much of a response.
Yeah but not of anime in general, only 80s and one anime movie! We need an anime and manga thread, I has links!
I tried watching the English version of Howl over Christmas and it was just completely flat. There is something about Japanese voice acting where they just give it 100% emotionally. The only bad thing about japanese audio with Howl is that if its your first time watching it, you have read a high volume of important story details within like a minute right at the end of the film.
Princess Mononoke takes the bullet though, firstly Claire Danes:
"I'm gonna cut your throat hu-man." Then a flat boring Billy Crudup as Ashitaka. Then Bender from Futurama hamming it up, oh my god Minnie Driver did the pantomime villain and couldn't get the duality of her character. And then you have Gillian Anderson as the wolf mother? And they run a really bad distortion effect over here voice, not present in the japanese original. Then to top everything off you have Billy Crap Thornton, voice ACTING is not just saying the lines like you were reading a newspaper.
It wasn't just 80s. It's classic cartoons from any period really as long as they are TV series and not movies, although if anyone wants to throw in some Fist of the North Star flashbacks or Flights of the Dragons or even Lord of the Rings the animated version, feel free. The Ponyo thread I spend a lot of time on and there just doesn't seem like there is the interest there. I just got Darkwing Duck and Gargoyles and more turtles in the mail, but I'm just talking to myself. I keep it up but it can feel futile.
When did you buy your Wii and did you leave it on stand-by mode (or whatever the amber light indicates) for too long?
I had a launch system, which are the ones suppossed to be affected and I left it in WC24 orange light mode virtually all the time. It crapped out just over a year later out of warranty. Only $130 to repair
It's horible on Zack and Wiki and World at War, it semi-ruins Endless Ocean. It's barely noticible on Galaxy. It really depends on the game. On an HDTV though it really shows up badly.
Killzone 2 pics
You know what I love about the visuals? It's not just harsh shaders and realism. It's art, colour, lighting and more. It reminds me more of concept art than say a hyper detailed shaded game.

Anybody out there?
Awesome! Halo Wars demo coming out Feb. 5th. Sounds like a pretty good demo for the game. The inclusion of the Halo 3 Mythic Map Pack for the Collector's Edition of Halo Wars is a really sweet plus. I'll definately be snagging that version.

Yes I am here! I am going to read the news now!
P.S. guys read my blog now! Especially you Steel!
Edit:
HoTD Overkill has some of the most awesome trailers ever. A stripper oh boy, boy, can't wait!
And LKS has a mail cow, how awesome! Fragile looks awesome, Namco sub it release it here, please!
There being no auto-aiming is quite interesting considering that Killzone had some of the worst controls of any FPSer I've ever played. In fact the averageness wouldn't have been so bad, for me, if the aiming actually worked. And if the controls are as inaccurate as in Killzone without auto-aim, then it can only be even worse.
My lord those Killzone 2 shots are so sexy. Uncharted 2 is like the dessert. Two must buys for me.
Foolz, I think Killzone 2 will be nothing like Killzone 1, from all the previews it sounds like this game will deliver. What is this??
Even though it looks really awesome I have this nagging feeling this game will not be good. Thats just going by these pics, hopefully I am wrong.
Didn't the original have hugely positive previews? In fact, doesn't everything have hugely positive previews? Then again everything that is being hyped at the moment scores 10s so it probably won't flop.
