Kill Bill 2 had lots of story and little action. Kill Bill 1 was the opposite and was action actio action. If you would combine them you would have a cool movie. Both were not as great as they should be.
YES PLEASE.
While I love Persona 3 I'm not blind and see some of the points you guys make. Though again while I love the game I've always felt very dishearted to as of why the game got so much attention in the first place. Most of the press gave it attention because it was "innovative". Similar to how the press claims that the Adventure genre is always dying and similar things, for some ridiculous reason they claim that the JRPG class RARELY innovates (which is just purely ridiculous as innovative JRPG's seem to be coming out nearly every other month). Unlike the previous Shin Megami Tensei's, Persona 3 actually appealed much more to the average Joe. Now that the series actually had a game that appealed to the reviewers they saw its uniqueness then praised it. Hell the game didn't even get any attention until it got "RPG of the Year" from Gamespot.
This saying, yes it's repetitive but it has a little extra meat then your average JRPG to keep the player further entertained. Though it isn't surprising that that meat gets stale at times due to this being a completely new formula. Devil May Cry 1 wasn't Devil May Cry 4 when it came out, Resident Evil 1 wasn't REmake when it came out either. People should give developers a little time to develop a new formula.
As to why Lost Odyessy gets shit on? Well I haven't played the game myself, but it seems to be the very opposite of Persona 3. It is a game that gears towards the tried and true and because JRPG's supposedly never innovate this is seen as a bad game because it leads JRPG's towards a negative direction that they have supposedly been going since the original Dragon Quest.

IGN's Sonic the Hedgehog (SMS) VC review
Wow, they gave it a 7.5! I honestly didn't expect it to get a good review. I downloaded it today, and it is a fun Sonic game.
That's what I find funny about it. Whether LO is innovative or not....whatever. (Though I think it is in the ways of character interaction and dialog) All I know is that its a very polished, very well paced RPG that keeps you hooked from start to finish and actually has an entertaining, mature-ish plot and some very interesting and likeable characters.
I've said it before....if it was called "Final Fantasy" there's no doubt in my mind places that gave it an 7.5 or 8, would have given it a 9. Because it really is the true FF11....minus summons and girly men.
I don't see much true innovation in many genres at all anymore...look at the shooters that come and go and get praised like they're godly when they're just the same thing as the last 20. Yet JRPG's like LO...clearly a step above most, get fucked with. Makes zero sense to me. Double Standards.
Another thing is, IMO, games don't need much innovation as long as they're inspired and done well. Was RE Zero the worst game in the RE series because it didn't innovate? Not at all....in fact they TRIED to innovate and do new things in that game, but all it did was make the existing RE style worse. What's unfortunate in a way is that this gets lost because RE4 came out next and was a total departure and an incredible game....so people assume now that the old RE style was dead when it really wasn't, because if it was, then REmake wouldn't have been so incredible. Its too bad Capcom didn't release another truly GREAT game of the old style before RE4...one actually on the level of RE2 and Code Veronica and REmake.
Basically, if a game is polished until it shines and has an amazing pace to it, and its clearly a step ahead of the others, it doesn't matter if its innovative at all.
I picked up 2 Xbox1 games yesterday.
I got Oddworld: Stranger's Wrath for 10 bucks, and Enclave for 5 bucks. I only picked up Enclave because its made by the Riddick guys, Starbreeze. I know its supposed to be a flawed game, but I want to see what its like...what kind of idea's it has.
Oddworld I've wanted to try for a long time, I've heard great things about it. Unfortunately, neither game is supported by 360's crap-ability, hahaha.
I may as well just pick up an Original Xbox again, just to have.
*Error on page*
If things go to plan (as they should) could be sooner than you think!
EVERWHERE has their gems. Even Australia, though I'm yet to find one in filmic form, but there's a hell of a lot in the outback.
Hey, I should be picking up Stranger's Wrath on Thursday or Friday. I'm hoping it's better than Munche's Oddyse. Not that it was particularly bad, it just didn't have OOMPH factor Oddworld should have.
Speaking of OOMPH factor I just finished Killer 7. Like No More Heroes it had some MAJOR problems, but overall what a great game! Kinda a disappointing ending, but I suppose it had to end that way. Reminds me of Deus Ex, actually, but even more anticlimactic. Overall I'd probably put it above No More Heroes even though the gameplay is substancially worse.
The only reason shooters don't get nagged on for rarely changing their formula is because most people didn't play the previous shooters. I mean what's sad is that the shooters of the past piss all over most of the new ones. Deus Ex and the Original Half-Life are light years ahead in their design compared to the games that come out now. I can't really explain how all I can recomend is just buying them each for $10 on PC to see for yourself. I mean even in terms of multiplayer this is true to an extent. Counting out Team Fortress 2 and a few others Unreal Tournament 2004 just kills anything that comes out (including Unreal Tournament III). I mean PC gamers often rag on fighting games or JRPG's for being uninnovative, yet they don't practice what they preach themselves.
I am aware that there are some innovative FPS's like S.T.A.L.K.E.R., Crysis, and Portal, but for a genre that was eating the market alive last year you'd expect to see a bit more. Perhaps I'm being too demanding. Either way JRPG's often get nagged by PC gamers and people who just occusionally play Final Fantasy. It's pretty obvious that they don't even play the games, I even had someone claim that Odin Sphere wasn't an action-RPG and that just because a game is a action-RPG then that means it can't also be a JRPG (completely ignoring games like Kingdom Hearts and Secret of Mana as they are often called the definitive JRPG's as well as being called the definitive action RPG's as well).
All in all people just like to be critics, and unfortunately not only do these people make up the majority of the gaming community but they as well are very uneducated about games in general. Lost Odyessy got backlashed for being tried and true? Okay then how the fuck did Bioshock get called "the most innovative and best game ever"? How is that game innovative? All it was was a corridor shooter with real-time in-game cutscenes. This is nothing new, Half-Life did it and did it better long ago. Even for other titles it is true. I could go on but I think you know where I'm getting at here.
It seems that now a days people are concentrating more so on being "hardcore gamers" by criticizing them and conforming to what others think then just playing videogames.I don't need to link you to pages just go to the Gamespot boards, Neogaf boards, 1up boards, or IGN boards to see what I mean.

^ Case and point, Twilight Princess. Seriously, the backlash on that was just ridiculous.

Tell me to get back to rewriting this site so it's not horrible on mobile^^^"Hey Nintendo! I HATE YOU! Because Zelda sucks.
There hasn't been a Zelda that has followed in the same vein of Ocarina in almost 8 years.
So do the following:
- Make the game resemble Ocarina
- Have the game darker
- Give the game a "T" rating
- Give us a realistic art-style
- Have deeper dungeons
- Polish the hell out of it no matter how long it takes
- And oh add some Link to the Past elements to it too
*Nintendo releases Twilight Princess*
WTF is this! First off this game resembles Ocarina way too much. It's too dark and doesn't seem Zeldaish. The "T" rating is okay but isn't that important. I prefer the game to be cell-shaded. The dungons are a farcry from Windwaker's as they are too confusing at times. The game took too long to come out. And the twlight flip world sucked."
...that's pretty much how I read things.
I also love it how people complain about the Wii when in terms of quality it is so far offering far more then the what the N64 or GC did on paper at least.
One of the site's forefathers.

No wrong. Zelda is a special case.
*A new Zelda releases*
Wow best game ever. This game is awesome.
*2 months later*
Well this Zelda is overrated. It not as good as *insert name of previous Zelda game*
*Game is bashed for not being different, while they are complaining that stuff what used to be in the previous Zelda game is taken out. Plus the game is criticised for an error and compared unfavorably with other Zelda games, who have this error too*
*People who never liked Zelda join in the bashing*
Nintendo never innovates. It's only save the princess this and that
*A guy comes that claimed he always liked Zelda, but is dissapointed with this one*
*A discussion start were Zelda has to go next. Useally I means that change a lot and be a RPG or Oblivion clone*
*A New Zelda is released*
Best game ever
*2 months later*
Well this Zelda is overrated. It not as good as *insert name of previous Zelda game*
And the circle of love hate continues. I happens to every Zelda game. It happened to Majora's Mask, Windwaker, Twilight Princess and Phantom Hourglass. It is tradition.
