Don't worry my sweet Perfect Dark, we know where its at:

Perfect Dark Picture

The thing of it is that the gameplay still holds up if you go back and play it. I think the only difference between it and goldeneye was that goldeneye has smaller, sort of rotational levels which are easier to replay due to their relative length. Perfect darks missions could be a little too long and intricate for repeated play. But on the other hand it felt like there was more depth to it because of that. The weapons were awesome, just had a ton of things like the laptop gun, the robocop lockon gun, that remote camera, the vehicles, secondary fire etc.

I don't think anyone watched this last week when I linked it. It's a badass trailer for this new movie by the director of A Bittersweet Life:

Actually you are an hour behind me GG. It is now 16:32 hours here and it is 15:32 hours in London. Remember the sun rises in the east. Holland is to the east of the UK, so the day starts sooner here. East FTW.

GG don't worry, thats only the intro of the game, the real adventure begins now.

Sweet. If it ended now I would be be annoyed. It's getting good. Not zelda good, but still a decent action adventure game and adventure games are my favourite genre. Smash Bros can wait while I polish this and mass effect off.

How long is Mass Effect guys? Controlling that moon buggy is crap BTW.

If you want the best experience skip doing most of the side missions, and exlploring unecessary planets, as they all tend to play out exactly the same except for a few exceptions. If you just focus on the core of the game you can finish Mass Effect in under 20 hours.

Its 6:42 in the morning here in New England right now. What time is it in London GG? I feel alone when I come to post....nobody's around.

Wow you post early in the day. I can't find New england but if you check the time here in london:

http://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/

You can see the time difference between us. From working out the schedule I've found that a lot of people are 5-7 hrs behind London time which means that by say 2pm where I am, it's 7-9am for others. I was wondering why you seemed to be online in the mornings when I was around. You post quite early in the mornings? Yodariquo posts late at night?

Iga is an hour behind me.

I'm surprised that Microsoft and Rare still haven't released PD and the other Rare games on XBL Arcade. It seems like they'd make a ton of money with fairly minimal effort.

Beaver, I've played both versions and despite what IGN says, I don't consider the lack of that dumb filter to be a disappointment. The game looks way better without it, just like Mass Effect looks way better without the grain and blur filters.

Even controls...I've had no more problems with the Wii version than I did with the PS2 one. I guess it all comes down to preference when it comes to controllers. There's not a huge difference in either version really, but I'd definitely give the Wii version the edge which only makes sense since its a better machine and it wasn't a sloppy port.

Think nintendo has something to do with that. Do you remember the goldeneye on XBLA fiasco?

Regarding Okami:

From IGN: Yet, it's not without its graphic imperfections. The original version of Okami featured a very pronounced filter, which gave the impression that the Nippon world Amaterasu explored was rendered onto paper. The Wii iteration also includes the paper filter, but it is not nearly as obvious or noticeable -- it's much subtler and thus far less convincing, a disappointment since the filter actually added to the authentic presentation of the game. Okami's framerate, meanwhile, often slowed down on PlayStation 2 and Ready at Dawn has made no attempt to improve the fluidity for the Wii build despite the fact that Nintendo's system is more powerful. The admittedly still-stunning adventure therefore remains hampered by regular fluidity dips in wide-open areas.

From 1UP: The gorgeous sumi-e Japanese watercolor world thankfully makes the translation intact, though. It looks more brilliant than ever in 480p and true 16:9 widescreen, which makes the rolling vistas all the more beautiful. As if the narrative weren't motivation enough, the unique art style will perpetually push you onward to the next area, just to see what it looks like. Every corner of the world feels novel; each of the game's bulbous bosses and plentiful basic enemy types revel in their own unique visual designs, introducing new aesthetic palettes and environments right up to the end. The papery-looking graphical filter is toned down to accommodate the Wii hardware, but it wasn't something I noticed until I was told about it (and even then, it wasn't a big deal).

GG, it sounds like visually, the Wii version is best for you if the art style is messing with your eyes. It has brighter colors (which can be a downside, depending on how you look at it), 480p, and 16:9 widescreen.

Found this about the controls: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oQrBojzN1dY&eurl=http://www.mahalo.com/Okami_Wii_Controls

If Ricardo's brushstrokes are similar to those of most other people, it looks like it may be easier to paint in the PS2 version. I know my straight lines look loads better than what I saw in that video, and you can also make "perfect" circles when using an analog stick. Moving the brush around while not painting, however, is quicker with the Wiimote.

Anyway, I think we can both appreciate how great of a game it is no matter which version we're playing. Happy

Ricardo is a fool. Circles work everytime in the wii version, it doesn't matter if they are perfect or not, in fact, who the hell can actually paint a perfect circle without a compass in the real world? If you hold down the Z button on wii you have the option to draw totally straight lines if people are having problems. The key is with the slash move, is to go slow and steady, or fast and slash like.

Gametrailers has a Wii/PS2 comparison video:

http://www.gametrailers.com/player/32960.html

PS2 version is so blurry it looks like it would do if I were playing it at midnight on no sleep. Far too bloomy too. Wii version is clearer and sharper and the colours are far more vibrant IMO.

IGN also has a video of the Wii brushwork and how it makes everything faster and smoother in the "nothing the brush can't do video"

http://uk.wii.ign.com/dor/objects/884970/okami/videos/okamiwii_040308_1.html

Also check out the "using the brush against enemies" videos, the line works everytime.

I agree it's a very good game, I just can't help comparing it to its obvious inspiration.

@GG, well if you go to planets that you aren't directed to go to, you are doing side missions...Avoid them at all costs, or the repetitiveness will consume you. Basically don't spend time surverying trying to find hidden planets, as those are definitely ones that you can skip, but I forget how I was actually able to tell which planet I had to go to, and which ones I didn't.
