I guess the first things to address first on the site is first the forum? Is there going to be a general forum for everything whilst keeping this feature for news discussion.?

The second immediate concern for me is getting participation on the news posting. I'm still getting some ideas togehter, but I think I may have a system down if people are willing.

I'd love to see a forum, and I'd be happy to contribute in any capacity that you'd want me to as far as writing and posting news.

Agreed, my idea is not something we must do now, my idea is a long term vision. The fist step is to get a forum and have other people participate in the news posting, there is no way you can run the "newspaper" by yourself. See as the newspaper idea as a goal that we will reach in a years time, not imediately. We need to do it slowly, like I said before, the most important thing is stability.

P.S. with editor I means that you have a final say. So you check if there is duplicate news or spelling mistakes. You will decide if a article is posted or not. The lay-out would be done by an artistic editor like Will Overton, he is the one who does the lay-out, you only approve of it or not and give suggestions how to make it better. Yoda will be the technical wizard who will take care of the code and IP ban the two Cs. And I will do abesolutely nothing Nyaa

In short your job will be two fold: fist approving content and second giving ideas and suggestions to the other editors below you. You will be the boss.

P.P.S.

We really have to use this guy, he is awesome.

NEWS VOLUNTEERS

So the first thing I would need to know is who is interested in posting news and what level your interest would be?

HIGH: Doing a full day's updates a week on a particular day

MEDIUM: Doing half days at alternative times GMT

LOW: Weekend updates, saturday or sunday either alone or with a partner

ALTERNATIVE: Someone willing to post more specialist news on portables for instance. Emergency backup in case one of the regulars has a computer meltdown or whatever.

Since we have some big news guys here already, I have some preferences but at the same time I don't want to leave people out. My main concern is just making sure that things aren't repeated and that people are always "on" on their assigned days/hours. My preference would be having people doing a full day update, 1 day a week. Having an onscreen GMT time indicator would be great too, I'll sketch one out on paper later.

Then what I would do is change the banner to Gamingeek(s) Weekly with the brackets intact and on the right aligned right next to it, it would list our names next to the days.

CVG
CVG has managed to get its grubby hands on the final list of features for the hotly anticipated Firmware 2.4 update, which was yesterday rumoured to be due early next week.But that's not the case we've been told...

Update: Since our original story went live, we've received further information regarding the inclusion of trophies in the 2.4 update. As expected full 2D trophy support will be in the XMB update and there will be four types: Bronze, Silver, Gold and Platinum.

Platinum is only awarded when you have collected all other trophies in a game. Also there are no gamer points, it's all done via a levelling up system. Think Call of Duty 4 levelling up system, we reckon. Update Out

Speaking under strict conditions of anonymity,a source has told CVG that Firmware 2.4 is expected to launch in around three weeks' time. A quick look at the diary reveals that E3 is just under three weeks away. It doesn't take a genius to see that Sony's pre-E3 conference would be the perfect time to launch the Sony XMB assault.

Announcing something and making it available at the same time is the way forward, as Microsoft proved by revealing Doom isn't just coming to Xbox Live Arcade, it's on Xbox Live Arcade a few E3s ago. Apple is known for this approach too.

We've also scooped the following list of XMB features that you'll be able to access in-game. Here goes:

* Friend category
* View, send, receive messages
* Manage downloads
* Set the vibration feature of the controller
* Sign in to PlayStation Network
* Register friends
* Manage Bluetooth devices
* Terminate the game
* Music category
* Use the system BGM
* Work the system BGM operation panel
* Settings category
* Assign controllers
* View profiles
* Game category
* Set audio devices
* Use the voice changer

As previously reportedthe update will also allow you to play back your own tunes in-game from the XMB Music column. It's unclear whether this feature will be compatible with all games or just new titles created with more recent development tools.

The system BGM will offer functions such as Play, Stop, Previous track, Next track, Change repeat mode, Change shuffle mode, Change volume (five levels).When you stop the playback of your tunes, playback of the game music will then begin.

Sony has yet to confirm or deny any of this and won't comment on rumour and speculation. If you ask us though, this is bang on the money. Not long to wait and see...
Sounds good to me.  I'm excited for in game messaging and custom soundtracks, the whole trophy thing is just a bonus.

At Ravenprose, err Mike J, nice you went back to the O.G avatar.

Fallout 3 looks absolutely amazing, I think its the game I'm most excited for that has yet to be released this year, with Fable 2 coming in a close second (and bearing that Alan Wake will see an 08 release. Oh yeah and there is Midnight Club: La, geez I don't know its close

At Dead Space, OMG!, it is the sex

I'm done with PoP after buying the worst one in the series (Warrior Within), I was too pissed off to ever support another (it's stupid but thats how much I hated that game).

Love the artstlye of Tales of Vesperia, though it doesn't look as beautiful as Eternal Sonata, I think its more fitting for the style of the game.

What the hell man? LOL You're assigning me work?

I'm not some overlord and the changes and co-ordination needed to make a decent site requires weekly, even daily meetings and communications. And like I said, if it was just me I would make random changes (if I had time too) but again I have no technical skill or authority to make any changes here. I'm no boss. All I have is ideas and you guys have just as many great ones, more so.

I work 9-6 Monday through Friday, so as much as I'd want to tackle a day's worth of updates, I don't know how realistic that would be for now.  I mean, I usually get away with hanging out on the internet for the majority of that time, but there are days when that isn't an option.

I had similar time problems updating when I had the blog on 1up only it was ten times worse because of the formatting and editing. Doing a days updates doesn't mean hanging onto the net all day. Sometimes I managed to do a days worth of updates in 20-30 minutes. If you can get that time free you can do a whole batch at once. I think the biggest thing is to make sure there is something there for the morning, although morning to me is probably night time to everyone else.

Otherwise if you know when is best for you, half days are possible is someone else is willing and able to cover the other half day?

How about Yoda? Yoda has the tech skills. Ahh we can discuss this later. first we need to share the news posting. Like I said we should not rush things, we have enough time to crown a editor.

LOL...yes GG brings back the true colors of Carnage!

Hiresdes has no clue man. Dude you could never even hope to match Carnage nor should you want to. His worst time was actually pre-Wii, during the Gamecube era. Once Wii came out he lost much of his gusto seemingly because it sold so well he couldn't put up his usual "beat up the loser" stance on Nintendo.

Believe me, he would enter every single Nintendo thread, and turn the tables to make anything positive into a negative. Not even in a real funny way...as I said like Pedro used to. Carnage just seemed full of pure hate.

Wait wait wait hold on a sec.....he used to be WORSE. Hrm

Oh snap...I forgot about that period of time where Carnage said Nintendo fans were leaving the Gamecube for the DS (as if Nintendo home console owners automatically were also handheld fans) and that the DS and Wii would "have no full games".

Full games....lol.

Ironically I saw him in a DS thread with him stating that all of the DS games are being casualized. He brought reference towards Final Fantasy XII: Revanent Wings (a game that was made harder for the Western audience anyway) and I dismissed it and brought forth games like Etrian Odyessy, Lunar Knights, and plenty of other games. He dismissed them and kept making that claim. Due to me not having too much of a head on my shoulders (I use to post at IGN and usually posted in System Wars so I wasn't too "civil" with my discussions as you may say) I called him an "idiot" (like I always did to people) and he and Skylock got pist at me. Since then it was like he always held a grudge against me as pretty much every time I posted in a thread he'd quote me and ramble on me like I was some moron.

I mean is really in his 40's or late 30's like he claims to be? Cause he takes some stuff way too seriously. Regardless I still think he was no match for the SEGA fanboy/Anything non-DS related Nintendo hater Panzer_Zwei in System Wars. I don't even know if I should go into details.

(Well Yeah I'm Going to Try and Stop Talking About Him Now. Sorry I Just Don't Want Anyone to Think I'm Obsessed With This Or Something)

New Wii RPG Happy Arc Rise is from the makers of Luminous Arc and is also developing World Destruction on the DS.  Sounds as though it could be good.

Sounds like they are doing something new too. I really hope the Wii follows in the vein of the DS of getting a bunch of "innovative" RPG's.

One of the site's forefathers.

Play fighting games!

jeuxvideo.fr/videos-motorstorm

Jeux-France has some new Motorstorm: Pacific Rift videos and some screens.  This game looks really fun.  All they need to do is fix the load times from the first game and it will stand a good chance of being my favorite arcade racer... outside of MarioKart anyway.

Nintendo annouces four new games heading to the US in a press release

http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=318591

Wario Land™: Shake It!, a classic side-scroller for the Wii console launching Sept. 29, stars Wario, the smelly, bad-mannered alter ego of Mario™. With the Wii Remote™ controller turned sideways like an old-school controller, veterans and newcomers alike can run, jump and smash their way through hectic side-scrolling stages. Players shake the Wii Remote to help Wario take down his enemies, empty bags of treasure or cause earthquakes. Best of all, there are numerous stages each offering multiple missions to keep players coming back again and again to unlock everything, collect more coins or just improve their best times.

Kirby Super Star™ Ultra for Nintendo DS, launching Sept. 29, re-imagines one of the most beloved Kirby games of all time. Kirby Super Star Ultra features new graphics and fully rendered animated cut scenes. With so many adventures waiting to be unlocked, there will never be a dull moment as Kirby runs, floats, copies enemies and uses Helpers to fight King Dedede and Meta Knight. New modes like Revenge of the King and Meta Knight Ultra await, along with classics like The Great Cave Offensive and Milky Way Wishes. On top of the main modes, there are also three new touch-screen-controlled mini-games that can be played with up to three friends via DS Download Play. Not only that, but players can go on Kirby adventures with a friend via local wireless as well.

Mystery Case Files™: MillionHeir™, launching Sept. 8, uses the unique Nintendo DS interface to expand upon the seek-and-solve game play of the popular series from Big Fish Games. Players seek out cleverly hidden items in a multitude of painted scenes. Players progress through an interactive detective story investigating a cast of characters and uncovering new evidence to find the rightful heir to a million-dollar fortune. This new portable installment is available only for Nintendo DS. With interactive logic puzzles that use both the touch-screen interface and built-in microphone and include the first ever multiplayer mode for a Mystery Case Files game, Mystery Case Files: MillionHeir presents a new generation of seek-and-solve games for casual gamers and franchise fans.

Mario™ Super Sluggers, launching Aug. 25 for the Wii console, stars the ever-lovable Mario and his crew of friends. It builds on the social-gaming fun and movements people learned in Wii Sports™ and turns them into a full-fledged baseball game that can be played by every member of the household. Players make a throwing motion with the Wii Remote controller to pitch the baseball and make a swinging motion to swing at the pitch. The game boasts more than 30 playable Nintendo characters and all the madness of a Mario sports game. Just like Mario Kart® Wii, it bridges the gap between experienced players and those new to the Wii console, with fun challenges and beautiful graphics.

Motorstorm is one of the few console games that consistently makes me question whether its images are part of some sort of mirage. Ten years ago I would have never thought gmaes would make such an immense graphical leap, and it seems like just yesterday when I was going bonkers over how great Shenmue looked on the DC.
