SFA3 felt like they traded presentation and balance for a bigger roster (and more features in the console versions). Case in point, the endings.

I know it's not a big deal in fighting games, but all the endings switched from the beautiful full screen portraits for each character to very similar endings with the ingame character models just running across the screen and exchanging a little dialogue. I felt like that was a giant step backwards and it never sat well with me.

And I spent my weekend with Cult of the Lamb. Really enjoying it a lot now that I have my commune nearly self sufficient. Much easier to act like a religious leader when you can focus on conducting rituals and going on crusades, instead of cooking all day.

Yeah, that’s similar to how I felt as well. The endings just weren’t as cool as the previous games. I know most folks don’t care about that stuff in fighting games but it’s an aspect of them that I enjoy.

Been trying Ghosts n Goblins resurrection.

Seems great, love the art. Seems fairer than the OG game.

Can still be tough though.

Once you beat it the first time, a second mode will open up. That version is pretty nasty, although once again it's still a lot more fair than those original games.

After playing more, I think they somehow managed to make a game as hard, if not more than the arcade game.

It's partly because my dpad is not wireless. Having to play in handheld mode the screen sometimes zooms out so far I struggle to see incoming attacks.

The weapons still screw you over, you get stuck with blue fire or a hammer.

There's lots of screw you moments, instant deaths, platforms that suddenly drop.

I finished Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom last week and really enjoyed my playthrough of it. It is, however, a middle of the road Zelda because of the dungeons. Sure they are a lot of fun but there's really no challenge, with the the exception of the snowy one.

I started up Assassin's Creed Unity, thanks to my Ubisoft Plus subscription. It's nothing earth shattering, but I do love the location and it is a lot of fun.

What endings? Hmm, I can't seem remember endings to any fighting games come to think of it.

I bought Streetfighter alpha 3 a while back as I saw videos saying it was the best version so I'm suprised about 2 seeming to be preferred.

I'd never really played any of them.

BTW, that Switch Online playtest game is a massive multiplayer planet building game.

I find it remarkable that Valve is opting to self-impose hardware stability for the Steam Deck in a time when to consoles are seemingly on a path away from clear generational gaps that allow developers to focus on one sku in name for optimalization.

As for the weekend, I inched a little bit closer to the ending of the Metroid Prime remaster.  Still ways off though.  I don't think I've ever completed as few games as I did this year.

Been playing Ghosts n Goblins resurrection.

This game breaks the rules of gaming when enemy bullets can travel through walls to hit you, while your projectiles can't do the same.

Very frustrating.

I enjoy all of them. Played them to death on Saturn. I looked it up and some prefer Alpha 3 and others prefer Alpha 2. They're all great, though.

Yeah, Ghosts n Goblins resurrection is bullshit.

It's completely ridiculously difficult. It screws you over in so many ways it may as well be pulling a literal rug from under you at any given moment.

It breaks its own rules, if it has any rules. It sticks you with crappy weapons. They still haven't fixed the flaws from the earlier games.

You still have no control of yourself in mid air, you still have no double jump, you still can't do something as simple as jumping onto a ladder.

Enemies have so many cheating moments and unfair AI it's literally a joke. I've died a million times, where I can cruise to the last level in arcade Ghouls and Ghosts.

Yeah, for sure. I think all three are great and worth having. My preference just leans towards 2 over 3.

Anyine here play Soul Calibur 6? I haven't played a game in that series since SC2 on GameCube.

I wish Capcom didn't delay the physical release of Marvel vs Capcom Collection. I really want to play Children of the Atom and X-Men vs SF. November 22nd is too far away.

Yeah, I played some of it. Found it to be quite good. Unfortunately I don’t think it sold all that well and the series is essentially dead right now. It goes on sale fairly regularly and pretty cheaply.

I’m also impatiently waiting for the physical release of the Marvel vs Capcom Collection as well. Really looking forward to playing all those games again along with playing The Punisher for the first time.

Yeah, SC6 is on sale on PSN for $10. Think I may give it try. Sad to hear it's a dead series, though.

I never played The Punisher before either but it looks fun.

Man, I hate Ghouls n Goblins resurrection.

But I can't stop playing it.

That dragon boss is pissed off.

I started playing SF3 Third Strike last night. Great game. I love all the little animations. I completely suck at parrying, though.

Omfg, what did they do to the Red flying demons in this game?

Virtually invincible.
