Apple announced its own AI, claiming it'll be better because it'll know you better, it'll be 'more personal'.

That's about the most evil, dystopian thing I've ever heard outside of fiction.

Yeah for sure. The old gang is back baby! Saw some reactions from people online and see them very happy about it because it reminds them of playing the first game on the 360.

Apparently the 309 GB file size for Call of Duty Black Ops 6 is for the whole Call of Duty app which includes MWII, MWIII, and Black Ops 6. I think you can just get BO6 on its own when it comes out. Will probably still be pretty big though.

And now it is online only even in single player because they are streaming some textures in!  So even AFTER you've installed it everytime you play it is is using more data to stream assets.  That's so insane I could not come up with that if I tried!

I feel similar. 10 years ago, these trailers would have been a much, much bigger deal to me. Not really anymore. Doom and Perfect Dark look great but will I play them? Maybe. Will I finish them? No, not likely. Same with a lot of PS games too.

My tastes in games have changed. I'm  preferring slower-paced games now. Give me Civ 7, Phoenix Wright, and SimCity instead these days.

Yeah, I mean I should frame my thoughts better.

A couple of things have changed for me, firstly I will very rarely buy a full priced game. To me the value equation has changed. When I can buy five 10 dollar games for the same price as a new boxed release. Or ten 5 dollar games instead, I prefer the variety.

Even when I do buy a full price game, I probably won't play it, like Pikmin 4 or Splatoon 3.

When I look at my backlog I tend to leave AAA games on the shelf and choose whatever game is 6 to 10 hrs long as I know I won't be stuck in it for months and get bored.

In terms of games that I see that interest me, games like Fire Girl DX or Minekos Night Market are the ones that peak my interest, even if, as I said, they may turn out not to be that good.

In terms of watching trailers I have the patience of a youtube viewer. I'll know if I like a music track within 3 to 5 seconds. And I'll bail if it's not my thing.

In terms of game trailers I'll give it 30 seconds to 1 minute to see if it interests me.

But since a lot of game trailers don't actually show me gameplay, I spend 30 seconds watching some well rendered character giving a monologue and I just want the past 30 seconds of my life back.

Otherwise, games like the new Doom, there are two Doom games on Switch I haven't bought so I'd never get the newer game, probably for years if ever.

Never been a MGS fan, liked the first on PS and the GC remake, didn't like 2 and didn't like the admittedly gimped controls of the MSG3 demos I tried.

No need to apologize, you like what you like. Personally I still get very hyped for this big AAA stuff as much as ever.

I'll admit it was a very good showcase if you're into the big, style games.

I'm just jaded. I guess partly because of how badly I've been served as a AAA gamer on Nintendo hardware.

Wii U and Switch were hardly AAA paradise. So I got used to playing alternative stuff and was surprised I enjoyed them so much.

I got stuck on a puzzle in The Dig for days now. I finally cheated and looked up the solution. Turns out, there were two items I needed that blended into the pixelated background so we'll I couldn't see them. Not sure if they were more visible back in 1995 on a CRT monitor, but they were impossible to see now. The only way I could find them was moving my mouse cursor around slowly watching if it'll change color. That's really annoying.

Every stinking adventure game has some lol moment like this. Some games have many chained together and are barely playable like Memoria.

So....

Ah....

I guess this is not a new thing to you guys, but this is the first time something like this has happened to me.

So here's the story. When I bought Snowrunner physical, I was surprised that it downloaded a 9gb patch.

Okay, I thought, a bit large, but there is some content they added once the main game was out. That you could play for free, rift level, free trucks.

There's 4 years of dlc available, to put things in perspective there are like 4x as many dlc maps than are in the main game (and the main game lasted 230 hrs)

These long games I can play as they're broken up in shorter tasks/missions.

Anyway so the dlc went on sale yesterday and I bought 3 years worth of gamepass.

I cleared out like 28gb of data expecting a massive download. But when I looked at the data requirement, it said 60mb.

When I purchased it, the software downloaded in about 30 seconds. I was perplexed.

I still haven't tested it yet, maybe once in game they will ask me to download a massive content update?

But I suspect that the 9gb download that downloaded when I bought the main game, was all the actual content from the available dlc. And when I bought it on the eshop, they just sent a key to the game which unlocked the 9gb of content it already downloaded months ago.

So what freaks me out is that, if I had never been interested enough to buy the dlc, did this company just force and appropriate 9gb of my storage space for something I might never play?

Is this considered normal?

https://www.vg247.com/prince-of-persia-sands-of-time-remake-2026-30-seconds-candle

This made me lol as it's like the big joke we've had for so many years with games presented with nothing in the videos. Like the Metroid Prime 4 announcement.

Or cgi trailers. These days indie games often have glorious looking animated trailers, then it cuts to the footage which looks ridiculously bad.

Seriously, stuff like that should be prohibited by law.  Or it should at least be mandatory to warn of it on the box.  Kind of like those warnings about smoking damaging your health.

Omg just checked Snowrunner dlc I bought, years 1 to 3 has 29 extra maps.

The base game has 12 maps.

The new dlc trucks have to be found in game in the new maps.

As suspected no additional downloads were required, they preloaded it weeks ago as an automated 9gb download with the dlc all there, stored on my SD card.

Mark Cerny did an interview recently stating it takes longer to develop a game now than it does to design the console hardware they run on. The reason for it is because game devs are choosing to build larger and larger games, so they take longer and longer to make. It's not just the graphics.

I wish devs would focus on creating more 8-12 games again. I've become bored with nearly every AAA story-driven game I've played that goes over the 10-12 hour mark. 12 hours is my max. I'm much more likely to replay a shorter game too.

I remember when, at the start of the PS2 generation, Nintendo stated it'd be focusing creating on shorter games, which led to the development of Luigi's Mansion and Pikmin.  Thanks haven't improved over the last 20 years.

I quite enjoy shorter games these days. I get the sense of completion after beating them, with the knowledge and feeling that I'll play it again someday.

Game length is why I haven't picked up the Paper Mario and Xenoblade 1 remakes.

Most adventure games are under 11 hrs, usually less.
