I played a good bit of Super Mario RPG this weekend. I'm a little over halfway done with it.
This weekend I finished Persona 3 Reload and played a bit of Dead Island 2 on Gamepass.
I do wonder if I will pick it up. I've played the original 3-4 times, including once in the last 5 years on the SNES classic. I could say I'll do it after Dragon Quest on Switch, but I probably won;t beat that for another 13 years!
Just started playing DQ again. God the voice acting is bad.
Enjoying Spirit Farer, very relaxing game.
Worked out how the trains work.
Now have a fairly large sprawling complex on my boat. With a garden, field, sawmill, Foundry, houses etc. Thankfully it's all rather intuitive and easy to make and move buildings around.
I was expecting it to come out, flop and be discontinued within a year. There's a market for these then. Good for them!
PSA: Dead Space Remake Deluxe Edition is $10 and Wild Hearts Karakuri Edition is $11.50 on Xbox right now. Those are Canadian prices.
The new Pokémon Legends game is rumoured to be cross-gen. If so it'd be interesting to see how cross-gen trading will be tackled. It'd also mean backwards compatibility is much more likely.
Then again, if its cross-gen, the def will be hamstrung by the aging Switch hardware and unable to push the boundaries both in terms of gameplay and graphics.
Yeah, good for them. Maybe this is how they can move their [rumour] stock of PSVR2's that they haev discontinued [end rumour]. They could do a BOGO (buy a portal, get a PSVR2) deal.
There are so many layoffs announced in the game industry in the last 3 days I cannot spam the news board with them. Here's a simpler way to put it:
Headline: Nintendo Has Not Announced any Layoffs
Sub Head: Everyone else has
Link: https:/noshitsherlock.net/layoffseveryhereholychristwhowillbelefttomakethegames#42069.html
^ It'd be interested to see how much all these companies grew during the Covic pandemic and how this now compares to the layoffs. Is the industry indeed in such dire shape, or is it just a natural correction? If the latter is true, all these layoffs now are a result of the shortsighted recent growth.
Spirit Farer has a little wind waker in it.
There are things like rocks to break and ice barriers you have to break, by upgrading your ship. This is my third Thunderlotus game and I'm still impressed by their 2d animation work. They did this metroidvania I can't remember the name of which was really good. You can see some of that dna in the way Stella moves and the showpiece moments like firefly attacks etc.
Currently I'm desperately trying to find marble to upgrade my ship.
If anyone else gets this game (and I'd recommend it whole heartedly) make sure the glide ability is attained after the double jump and zip line, as it makes life difficult, not being able to enter a specific mine.

I'm sure there's some truth to that; they were released 2-3 days apart. Superstars is a fun game. I enjoyed it more than Mario Wonder.
21 hrs into Spirit farer and only 24% progress. This game is much bigger than I expected. There are a few quirks, but it's very rewarding.
That appears to be the consensus view. That the execs are to blame for taking advantage of 0% interest and the COVID boom and now they have to cut back. I don't think the industry is doomed, but it is overdue for a shakeup. When you combine this mess (above) with the AAA devs coming to terms with the risks of 7-year dev cycles and a changed consumer base.
My copy of Final Fantasy VII Rebirth Deluxe Edition has arrived. It’s a very nice bundle. Came with two very nice steel books, a hardcover art book, and a music CD. Top notch quality stuff. I’m quite pleased with it.
I bought a couple 10' (3.048 meters) Anker USB-A to USB-C cables for my PS5 and Xbox controllers. Much more durable than the official one too. Rockin' it like 90s.
They are too long, though. I wanted 8' cables but those don't appear to exist. Oh, well. Too long is better than too short.
