Ace Combat coming to Switch. Anyone played any of them? I remeber playing the PS2 one poorly but frequently. It has a really morose anime storyline. Overall fun, but not at all arcadey.
The ending scene was epic, bombs dropping everywhere, plot twists galore. Epic and poignant ending. Then the credits rolled and I was thinking, I love this game but it's a touch too short.
Then mid-credits they announced an encore, the story continued and I'm now in Venice!
Can't put into words how much I love this game. I'm going to get the Sherlock Holmes games too, there's 4 on Switch and they sell them in bundles for deep discounts.
I have a bunch of games I should sell that I'll never play again but I hate dealing with eBay or even, worse one of my local game stores.
I'm chipping away at it on Ebay. Now that I've had to go through gettign rid of family members belongings after they have passed I've realised I'd rather move my collection along then leave it to my family. It feels good to get them into someone elses hands as opposed to sitting on a shelf gathering dust.

My friend who runs the big horror convention over here has come to a similar conclusion. He owns a ton of KISS and horror memorabilia and a lot of it is very valuable. His family, whoever has absolutely no interest in it whatsoever. He's only half joked that when he dies they're just going to get a dumpster and toss all of it out. So if that's the case, yeah, it makes sense to part with it to someone else who will appreciate it.

Yeah, once you havbe to completely empty someons house it re-jiggers your judgement as to what physical assets are important. There is no one in my real life who can apprecaite my collection other than me, so I don't get to enjoy it as a show piece, so at teh end of the day I'll hang onto what I really value and let someone else enjoy the rest.
A big part of having a great collection is showing it off to others that share the value. Instead of reactions I used to get in the States of "OMG I can't bel;ive you have that!" Now it's "So do you still have all those game things?" (Meaning, "so have your grown out of your arrested development stage yet and become a real man?"). Even kids are not that into it, as when kids come over all they want to play is Roblox (which after I have to download patches and updates they are not impressed and have lost interest anyway).

At the very least, make sure you get a lot of pictures of the collection. I've always been kind of curious to see it.
I greatly dislike the lack of ownership of digital games, but also greatly prefer the lack of clutter digital games offer.
That is the same place I find myself. I'd rather save my shelves for books or other things, and I actually think I get more satisfaction scrolling through a digital library then looking through a real one.
But at the same time, I've had a digital purchases effectively taken from me by closed marketplaces or by publishers who make you jump through a ridiculous number of hoops just to access your library. Not a fan of that at all.
Founders of Rocksteady opened new studio. Back when the "founders of Burnout" started a new studio after the EA buy out I was all in on whatever they did, but due to lack of money, nothing great ever came out of Three Fields Entertainment, which is a terrible shame. So I am guarded about my optimism, unless they make a sequel to the transcendent Urban Chaos Riot Response.

2018 - Danger Zone 2 (Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 4, Xbox One)
2019 - Dangerous Driving (Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 4, Xbox One)
TBD - Wreckreation (Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 4/5, Xbox One/Series X/S)[11]

I basically read such announcements as follows: 'Hey, we once did something cool and now got big bags of cash from selling our studio. We're going to return to what we liked best about game development, trying out cool new ideas while seeing what might stick. We're gonna enjoy ourselves and maybe make something that might not be crap.'
I downloaded someone's playthrough of Civ 6 (without commentary or music) from YT. I've been listening to it in the background all afternoon at work. The sounds of this game are relaxing. Now I want to get home and play it.
Update [Tue 16th Jan, 2024 17:50 GMT]: Billy Mitchell has issued a press release claiming that Twin Galaxies has reinstated his disputed Donkey Kong scores, but, in fact, said scores have only been restored as part of an "official historical database."

I "completed" Murder on the Orient Express.

That is me by 8:30 each night, usually a book wins over a game or TV. The LA-Z-BOY furniture doesn't help, that shit induces sleep.
A new The Game Under Podcast approaches. Does anyone have questions for Foolz for that segment?

So yeah, my hopes are never really all that high.
Thanks for the updates, Aspro.
You are welcome. I am more active on the site again as I have the page up all day in the background while I work.
Honestly I thought it was even older than that!
EverQuest begins a year long celebration for its 25th anniversaryHow the fuck is that game 25 years old??
