I wasn't a big fan of the art style for the new 2D Super Mario Wonder, but it looks like they want to lean into the look of the movies. It looks like they're throwing a ton of new ideas into it though, and I'm happy to see they're maintaining the co-op play. Really hope they let you play online this time though.
As far as a couple other thoughts with the direct:
an updated Mario RPG is only a good thing, even if all they do is update the graphics.
too soon to really say anything one way or another about the princess peach game.
very happy to see a new Dragon Quest Monsters. And very interesting that they showed the hero from Dragon Quest 4. I hope it's not just a stupid costume or skin.
the metal gear collection looks interesting. I've never played one before, so this could be my chance to finally catch up on the series. I'm not going to, but it's nice to know the opportunity is available.
It's interesting how of all the comic book characters out there, Batman is the one that's never really had a lot of bad games under the license.
Spider-Man games are probably 50/50 for quality. X-Men are probably even a little bit worse than that, mainly due to some really bad early games and some bad licensed games from the movies.
A Batman title is usually a sign of a decent game. On top of that, I believe there have been more Batman games than there have been games for any other character.
That was a great direct. Super Mario RPG remake, I'm in. Pikmin 4 looks incredible, already used a coupon thing for it. Star Ocean 2 remake, never played it, don't know much about SO but good lord that's how you do a classic RPG remake, what amazing graphics. That Penny game from the Mania team looks fantastic.
And then we get Super Mario Acid Trip! Finally the mario gang gets high from the mushrooms! It looks so good, loads of wild gameplay ideas. Crazy that it comes out the same day as spider man 2, so many great games this year. Zelda, Mario, FF, Sonic, RE, and so much more, magical year.
Roblox is adding a 17+ community that requires age verification by ID. What are everyone's thoughts on this? And I don't mean on Roblox specifically, but on having your online presence coupled to your ID?
I get that there has been a lot of harassment on Roblox directed at children. I'm not sure how this would prevent any of that though. I guess maybe by limiting what games and features are available to anyone under 17?
At any rate, I don't like it. I'm not comfortable when game companies have my credit card info, and even more so when it comes to a government id.
Edit: just spoke to my son about it since he still plays Roblox, and apparently it's to be part of a voice chat network. I suppose I could see the reasoning for that, specifically to keep kids off of it. That said, there's no way in hell I would give a game company my id. Apparently, the kid feels the same way.

Completely unacceptable. There are plenty of good, even necessary-for-your-own-safety reasons why your online identity wouldn't match your ID, without even getting into all the data breaches.

So they are keeping the gimmicky dice a secret?
And the new...errr I mean Super Mario Bros. Wonder looks trippy enough to separate it from the previous 2D games.
Lots to like in this Direct.
Haven't played Arkham Knight.
City has been bought and lost before cause it was faulty so I only got to the Penguin boss fight.
Still have Asylum but I'd rather play on Switch, portable too.
Pretty good Direct. Really liked:
Batman trilogy is cool but I’m satisfied with just owning the Xbox version of those games.

The only Batman game I need right now is Origins, the one that gets no love.
Yeah I never did play that one and wouldn’t mind checking it out.
What about the Sunsoft NES Batman? That was pretty awesome.
Yeah that one was pretty good. I also really enjoyed Batman Returns and The Adventures of Batman and Robin. Both by Konami on the SNES.

And the SNES game.
SNES Batman Returns was a fun beat 'em up. And the Sega CD Batman had cool driving levels. Now I want a collection of 8-bit and16-Bit Batman games.
