Eurogamer is changing how it rates games.  8 years ago they ditched numerical scores on a 10-point system, because they didn't want their reviews to be taken in account on metacritic and thus potentially influencing bonusses devs would receive based on those scores.  In its stead came a system of badges avoid, neutral, recommended and essential.

While a bit controversial at first, I think the system worked great.  A game could be less than perfect, but still receive an essential badge because it would be truely unique and worth experiencing

Now, a 5 star rating system is being introduced, apparently to cut back on the ambiguity of the -now- previous system.

Personally, I don't see the advantages.  Be it stars, flowers or lemon's, it's still a numerical system and thus a step back.  I understand that it's a simpler system to wrap your mind around, but it'll reintroduce all the drawback of the original scoring sytem X our of 10.

It's always courageous for an outlet to drop numeric scoring. I've never seen it last though.  I liked Eurogamers approach as it made you read at least most of a review.

I played Super Thunder Blade (Genesis) for a couple hours last night. Despite its low framerate, it still a lot of fun.

Shame the Switch never got a port of the Arcade Thunder Blade. 3DS version is good but I want to play it on a big screen. Maybe I'll boot up the SMS port tonight.

That's just trolling. You know he's too busy to answer. Might lose his place if he tried to respond.

If I could be there I’d be in line dressed in my Tingle costume.

And if the master sword won't slip into your backdoor, try force.

Happy Frigay! Since there isn't an exciting new game out this weekend to play, I'm going to break out my stick and play some Sega Genesis tonight instead. I gots my pizza, vanilla ice cream and strawberry sparkling water too! Woo!

The Master System game hold up as well. Not sure I could play it for a couple of hours sober though. Master System Longplay [036] Thunder Blade - YouTube

I ended up playing quite a bit of Kid Chameleon, which still holds up pretty well. I remember being frustrated that the game had no save feature. Well it does now!

I also played about half and hour of Space Harrier II, which does not hold up well at all. I remember liking this game back in the day but it's meh now, especially since I can easily play the arcade game now in its full glory.

This week played nothing but work and more work. Hoping to finish Battlefield Bad Company tonight, but probably won't get to it.

This weekend I started up a new game of Stardew Valley. I put away Spirit fairer, once and for all I think. There are definitely some wonderful moments, but unfortunately 90 something percent of it is a very dull resource management game. So in the meantime it's back to a more exciting resource management game?

Anyway, I've still got like a dragon to start up whenever I am up for starting a new game. In the meantime, hope everyone who is playing it is enjoying tears of the kingdom.
