Holy shit! Sega did it! They're buying Rovio for €706 million.
I doubt anyone really cares at this point.
Probably about 10 years ago a senior VP at rovio claimed that the company was worth $800 million, which was more or less based solely on what he claimed the value of angry birds was. I asked Pachter about that on Twitter, and he actually replied back to me and told me that this guy was an idiot. No individual IP would be worth that much.
I still think he's right, but it's amazing how much things have changed since then. And I guess a few fairly profitable movies and merchandising have raised the value of angry birds.
My surface pro is slowly dieing. Every so often the screen will go black for a couple of seconds and sometimes Bluetooth disappears. Every time that happens I have to dive deeper and deeper into some arcane Windows settings to get it working again.
I'm a bit reluctant of getting a newer model, as autodesk has kindly told me that they can't stop me from using an antique version of their software that I bought back before all you could get was a subscription model, but they can and will stop me from migrating my license to a new computer. Fuck autocad. Fuck subscription models.

I made the mistake of choosing Neon cab.
It's just like arcade spirits in that you're basically just endlessly reading. Both are western games, I assume the subject matter of Japanese visual novels is much more Anime inspired and engaging?
In Neon cab the main character is struggling to get back on friendly terms with the bestie she used to live with. It's like a freaking women's drama I'm playing!
So apparently DOOM was released closer to the first moon landing then it is to today. Just in case anyone wasn't feeling old when they started the day, I'm sure you are now.

If you look at old space rockets and capsules, the achievement was much less about the technology and much more about an amazing understanding of physics. So even if you ignore the physical evidence that's on the moon, yes, we definitely were up there.
It's a matter of cost. Sending people to other planets has no chance of turning profits. There's nothing there that we need, and the costs are exorbitant. We can do all the experimenting we want in space stations circling the earth, why venture all the way to Mars?
The moon landing was a prestige project and was pulled off in a relatively short timespan. The kind of timespan that can keep the attention of the public. Going to Mars takes 7 months, by the time the astronauts return, everyone will already have gotten bored and will have moved on.
