Good luck with that Aspro! Not sure how difficult it is to hack Hyperkin hardware.
I skipped the Retron 77 since I have a composite modded Atari 7800 and a flash cartridge. I probably should get a Retotink 2X or 5X, though. Would improve my setup quite a bit.
Massive thanks for the Retotink knowledge! I have been putting off even looking at TV upgrades dreading that there would be none with component inputs.
I've had trouble getting my 7800 to display on anything in Australia, but it's been over a decade since I tried. The Retron 77 is good enough for me, as I don't have a connection to the 7800 games in the same way, so I just need a 2600 solution. 7800 is a damn fine system though.
So Zelda is $70 here in the states, however, Nintendo has a $100 voucher in which you can purchase 2 games with the voucher. Zelda and Pikmin 4 are both eligible. I'm definitely going that route.

I did this, $50 for both games, save bunch of money.
the direct was ok, Pikmin looks great but I need to play 3. That Mickey game, besides the art style being horrible, it looks like a fun game. Fake bayonetta would be fine if it was $20.
metroid prime finally, bought and have been playing it. Looks fantastic but it does that thing where it looks like what I thought I remember it. In my mind this is how the game looked in 2002 even though it was not HD and not even widescreen lol. Oh and the control scheme works so well, twin stick but you can still lock on, also has many options. Great remaster, same game which is fine, still an all time favorite.
and then there is Zelda... wtf Nintendo. That trailer didn't show much of anything. Some vehicles... that's cool but is that it? What is this game?! What makes it different?! We are a few months away and we still don't know what you even do?! What's the goal?? I'm sick of this shit. If there are dungeons show them. What happened to the shrines? What is there? Just a bunch of floating islands, that's it, is that the game. Same old map, some floating island puzzle. I'm getting scared and pissed. I want my dungeons.

Isn't that just digital?
They have a standard 33% off 1st party games but I don't know how long you'll have to wait for Zelda to drop.
Started hacking into the minds of dead bodies. Its very much like the dream sequences from Layers of Fear.
Basically a disjointed fever dream. Problem hits when you're not sure how to advance the dream or specifically where they want you to go.
Environments are fairly tight though, so not much backtracking required. Seems better than Layers of Fear, I prefer the game world. It's futuristic as in what Blade Runner imagined the future would be like with a world of decayed technology that's equally made from Hollow tubes and crude exposed wires and CRTs.
Yeah it was an decent direct but I was hoping for more new stuff to be shown. But I guess it's on its last legs as a console being this old. For me I want to bleed every ounce out of my OLED though.
Metroid looks great, but I need to get the Skyward Sword remaster which to me is a longer, much better game overall -content, complexity etc.
Will definitely be getting Octopath 2 and Pikmin 4.
I do feel a bit like they are undeserving us on Zelda Tears info at this point. The trailers are too short, theres no story or gameplay info. Plus this is like the only Zelda where they reused the art style and some assets even game world to an extent. I'm sure it will be great but I miss not having a complete new Zelda like usual. Is this like FF X - 2?
Metroid is an odd franchise to me. I like everything about it except actually playing them; exercises in frustration for me. I still don't know how I managed beat Metroid Prime back in the day.
I guess I just don't care about physical copies anymore. My movie collection is all digital now and Game Pass provided hours of entertainment without a single box. I also like having Zelda on the go and not worrying about a cartridge.
I prefer physical copies of my Nintendo games as well. Unfortunately, less so for Playstation these days since most of disks don't contain the entire game anymore.
EDIT: I still buy my movies on Bluray too. I have gone completely digital with books and music, though.
I still much prefer physical copies as well, although I regret not getting Splatoon3 digitally. Nintendo's family game sharing mechanism allows for digitally owned games to be played on 2 switches simultaneously. Definitely planning on getting Advance Wars 2 digitally.
I love the convience of digital games, as well as being able to store over a hundred on one sd card.
But in the back of my mind I'm thinking, what happens when my card craps out?
What happens when switches eshop shutters? And since games are tied to your actual console, if my switch craps out I can't just swap the sd card over. Again relying on the eshop staying active.
What happens if Nintendo dies or gets taken over? Will my account and record of downloaded games still stand?
But theres nothing like not having to swap out physical Cartridges. And not having to wait for games to be posted to you.
Carrying your whole collection with you at once. And the prices of digital games can be insanely cheap.
I remember in college when I learned that DP meant something other than a movie term that meant "director of photography."

Did you do that just to see if anyone read that far?
As I recall, it was outstanding for its time, but would really suffer from aging these days without a complete reno.
I bet you were surprised that you could fit two of your frat brothers in.

For the record, I'm more insulted that you thought I was in a frat than your insinuation that I was double teamed.

Vader, check out the video in the news. Prime is almost a remake.
Yeah that voucher thing is a good deal but I prefer getting the physical version of my Switch games so just going to spend the extra money there.
