In regards to Pride month, it's still a very new thing and I think a lot of the world is trying to figure out the lines and balance between acknowledgment, celebration, and "look at me I'm a part of this and deserve recognition for it."

But yeah, I do think it tends to be a little overboard. My son is gay, and around pride month I know he starts rolling his eyes really really hard because he just gets bombarded with messaging. Plus he gets pissed off when we go to Target and stuff he wants is moved around because of pride displays.

It's all just very matter of fact for him, and he's like "tone it down." But he's a gay teen with a super supportive family in a super supportive city were somewhere in Oklahoma, he'd feel very differently about it.

In conclusion, now that I've looked over what I've written, I think it's clear I pretty much just babbled and there you go.

All my devices this month really try to get me to watch "gay programming", which is totally fine but I know plenty of people get upset that their amazon stick is "trying to make them gay!"  But yes there should be a month but might come on so strong that it starts to have a backlash, though for some there would always be a backlash cause they are bigots.

Sonic Frontiers is looking better, at least it has Unleashed style stages which is a good sign. It seems to be reusing levels from Generation which is just lazy but whatever Ill take it.

Tomorrow there should be some God of War news, should be coming this year.

You know that video for the Atari collection is probably the slickest piece of marketing they have done since the 2600. I've watched it a couple times, and that was just really well put together. I really don't have any interest in playing Atari games anymore, but that video created a spark of interest in me, so I have to give it credit.

I was in NY last week and was proud and amazed how the whole city embraced pride month. I guess I dont mind seeing all of the support because, from where I'm from, this kind of support is not that common. Things are certainly changing but you can tell we have quite a ways to go in SC.

Videogame sites have always been obsequiese when it comes to broader cultural touchstones. In the past this was expressed with casual homphobia, now it's expressed in stringent homopositivity. It's all the more amusing when you see the same writers making the switch. People are, of course, welcome to grow and change their views. But one can't help but think they actually don't have any views.

Vgpress, do you have any favorite summer movies? Movies that you prefer to watch during the summer season. It feels mandatory for me to watch Jaws and The Great Outdoors at least once during the months of June and July.

Jaws is the official 4th of July movie around here.

Michael Keaton's Batman will always get played at least once a summer, since that was pretty much my introduction to the concept of a summer blockbuster movie. I don't so argue it still might be the best Batman movie ever made.

I have a four day weekend starting tomorrow. I should watch Keaton's Batman, Batman Returns and Terminator 2. I haven't watched them in quite some time.

Independence Day, one of my all time favorites, is one I see a lot of 4th of July.

I reached some of the old Batmans around the time The Batman came out. The first is a classic, so perfectly stylized, great score and acting from Jack. Then I saw Returns, I don't get the love, it's nearly as campy as Forever but much darker and not as fun. The concept is ridiculous.

Then I saw Forever and you know what, it's great. It embraces the campiness and has just the right amount. Val Kilmer has a lot more depth to Batman than Keaton does in Returns. Jim Carey is awesome as Riddler. TLJ is doing something with Two Face, don't know what but it's something. Fun dumb movie.

and I refused to see Batman and Robin.

I only managed to watch Batman Forever once. That was more than enough for me.

I liked Batman returns for two reasons.

1. It's a gorgeous movie. It's Tim Burton unleashed, but still in control, unlike the disaster that was Charlie and the chocolate factory. It's one of those movies I can just watch and not even pay attention to the characters.

2. Michael Keaton and Michelle Pfeiffer's chemistry. They gave Catwoman kind of a dumb backstory, but that didn't change the fact that every time the two of them share the screen together, in or out of costume, you got to see magic.

That said, overall the movie is not great. The penguin and his whole story arc was kind of a disaster. Even Christopher Walken didn't really bring much to the table as Max shrek.

And I liked Batman forever back in the day, but I don't think it's held up well in recent years. I like the switch in visual style to something much more colorful and comic bookish. Excellent soundtrack too. However I thought the villains sucked. Plus it gets really plodding and slow during the second half of the movie.

And yes, there is nothing redeeming about Batman and Robin. Literally, there is not a single good thing about this movie.

EG's hosting a whole slew of articles about queerness in games during the Pride Week.  I'm all for equality and everything, but EG is faaar to the left when it comes to stuff like this.  Sometimes I'd rather they'd be a bit more neutral.  I'm all for diversity, but they can go really overboard to the point where it feels I'm being forcefed articles about the queer community.

Neutral isn't really the right word here. There's no neutrality in terms of human rights and acceptance, but I know that's not what you mean. There's definitely a rainbow capitalism problem, and backlash within LGBTQ+ circles, because the corporations putting up pride logos are the same one donating to Republicans to take away our rights. It's more important for these companies to take internal actions to allow diversity to thrive internally and not do work behind the scenes to undermine that. I do think it's an important time for aggressive show of support, though, because there is an onslaught of hate right now.

Oliver's team are probably the best at investigations. They always bring the goods.

Going back to Batman 89, I'm sort of in the same boat as Robio, having a fondness because it was the first time I was old enough to recognize a movie as a summer blockbuster. I actually paid attention to all of the money it made because it was always in the news. That movie was considered a phenomenon. Returns was just as good because of the stylish visuals and Batman/Catwoman chemistry. Forever definitely aged badly. I loved it at the time but its too campy for me now. Batman and Robin wasnt even good back when it was released. A truly awful movie.

Batman and Robin is great, not only is it top tier gay kitsch, it also features Uma Thurman's most underrated performance...and she's in leggings spouting innuendo the whole time!

The only thing worse than thevgpress's taste in Limbo/Inside in Playdead games is its taste in Batman films. The next absurd thing you people will claim is that The Dark Knight is a good film!

You're paid a nickel every time you put out a contrary opinion aren't you? I see that as a more likely scenario than someone actually willingly defending Batman and robin.

Oh and since Foolz brought it up, here's a few thoughts on the other Batman movies.

Batman Begins - okay, but honestly kind of boring. Personally I prefer my superhero movies aren't completely grounded in reality.

The Dark Knight - really good. Heath ledger's take on the joker was fantastic. Honestly though I think it would have been better had it been split into two movies. I kind of felt like the end was very rushed, and that's saying a lot since it was already clocking in it over two and a half hours.

The Dark Knight Rises - Awful. It first, I kind of thought it would end up like Batman Begins and just be a little dull. But that last 30 minutes pretty much destroyed everything Nolan built in the first two movies.

The Batman - I liked this, and while it was a little dark for my tastes (and maybe a touch too real world), it did a good job of juggling a very large cast of characters and still making it feel like everyone sort of evolved throughout the course of the film.
